I hear where everyone is coming from, but I didn't hear mention of the fact that 2 guys on the "team" came close to dying, and are fighting back. Of course I'm talking about Sammy Sasso and head Coach Tom Ryan...I'm not an OSU fan, but I am a Tom Ryan fan. He's had some really good teams/individuals, including the national title in 2015. I like to think he'll do all the right things.5 points

He was the only coach who would let Snyder focus on freestyle over folkstyle. That alone, is one of the best coaching decisions in recent wrestling history.4 points

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think Ohio State has equipped themselves very well as a program that hasn't been able to land any major transfers in this current landscape. They are still in recruiting and development mode at the moment, and have a very respectable line-up which will only be improved next year. Show me Iowa or Oklahoma State's line-ups this year if they didn't bring in reinforcements over the off season? Unfortunately, it doesn't appear Ohio State is competitive when it comes to bringing in transfers. It also doesn't help that Tom Ryan has expressed disapproval of the current system where you give up on a guy if he isn't producing right away and bring in a transfer to replace him. It's become a cutthroat game between development and replacement.4 points

Hear me out. It all makes perfect sense, starting with a win by Lucas Byrd. As has been stated by none other than Peter Griffin, Byrd is the Wyrd, and the Wyrd is Byrd. Then, sometime later in the dual, Carl will duck at least one wrestler, just like he ducks the National Duals every year. According to statistics being suppressed by the deep state and @Wrestleknownothing, Beau Bartlett has won or lost 114% of his matches by three points or less. That is exactly the type of opponent that Danny Pucino upsets. He has used different exotic moves to beat AAs like Cole Matthews (misdirect ankle dive), Vance Vombauer (inside trip) and Dylan D'Emilio (I forgot but it was fun-KEY). There's actually a word for it: "PUCINO'D." To make matters worse for Beau and his dashing Princess Bride mustache, he has to wrestle Jesse Mendez two days before facing the Irish Italian Turbo Leprechaun from ILLINOIS. This may turn out to be the worst weekend of his life. Single tear. Kannon Webster is a huge 149 pounder, and he's struggled a little this season with the Food Monster, but he's now acclimatized. That's bad news for Shayne Van Ness, a guy who has somehow managed to misspell his own first and last names. HOW DO YOU MISSPELL YOUR OWN NAME? He does it twice. The Nittany Lion will have to face Dylan D'Emilio on Friday and two days later, Kannon Webster. Van Ness has been majored less than a month ago. This match will not go well for him. At 157, I'll let this graph speak for me: This match is still two weeks away, so this is only volume one of my proofs. Things can change between now and then, but Wrestlestat.com has Techenbrink only getting a decision against Braeden Scoles. (It was a major two days ago). What will it be in two weeks? And, Stallrocci lost to Donnell Washington, somebody who is 0-2 against Edmond Ruthless. I'll save the rest for another day.3 points

A couple of observations: 1 tOSU cannot compete with the top programs from a financial perspective right now 2 the culture on the team is top notch. I’ve seen these guys at tournaments follow around and cheer for each other and coach one another. Only other program that I see do this is at the same level is Penn state. 3 there is some inbreeding with the coaching staff and that probably is part by design but maybe not the best for the program. I will say that there isn’t a program not named Penn state that has outperformed Ohio state for the past 10 years when balancing on the mat results with character and consistency. 4 the experience at the Covelli and the facilities are top 4 and I think that is where OSU will remain unless major money or restrictions come in play. 5 where I think OSU can go from here is that it would need to think outside the box and build a wrestling business model and not rely on donors as much since heavy hitters that love wrestling are in short supply.3 points

tOSU has two reigning finalists including one champ, a likely 3x AA/championship contender heavyweight 26 & 27, and consistently spectacular recruiting classes. Cleveland State just wants a team. Damn yall.3 points

Calling Bouzakis’ season “lackluster” seems a bit of a stretch IMO. If Crookham is out, he’s got a chance to win the whole thing. His only losses are to Davino and three guys that could also win the title all in close matches, and he has several quality wins and an over 60% bonus rate3 points

The only wrestler Sanderson beat in folk style whilst in college that had already won a national title was Lee Fullhart in the Midlands finals his senior year. Fullhart had graduated three years earlier in 1999. If you're going to count wrestlers that went on to later win NCAA titles Sanderson beat four of those in college. He beat Damien Hahn, Mark Munoz, Rob Rohn and Brad Vering before they won NCAA titles. If you don't want to count Hahn because he should have lost to Trenge, Cael also beat Trenge. If you don't want to count Rohn because he was lucky to beat Lambecht, Sanderson also beat Lambecht multiple times and by bonus every time. Quite possible, but I have no idea. Very reasonable on the other hand to infer that Brands directed this, I seem to recall Ferrari saying something to the effect of, Whether and when I wrestle is up to Tom Brands. But the main point is that neither the coach or the wrestler has said anything (to my knowledge). This is the number two ranked team in a division one sport, with a coach that is one of the highest paid public employees in the state, that apparently deploys seven figures of NIL money a year, and that competes in front of 15,000 people a match, and it is routine that obvious questions come up to which fans want answers but are never asked or answered. Thus we offer basic speculation because we, absent any further edification from the team, see this decision: No known benefit to the team. Marginal at best benefit to the athlete. Conceivably what the athlete prefers now, but very well might not be in a year or two if he wants to transfer. You know, because he's very young, may not see the big picture as well as a 21 year old, and because when he's 21 his coach might (will!) recruit over him if the coach has the option, and then the wrestler might feel a little different about things.2 points

Full quote: I just had a good call with President Trump. Canada is implementing our $1.3 billion border plan — reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel, enhanced coordination with our American partners, and increased resources to stop the flow of fentanyl. Nearly 10,000 frontline personnel are and will be working on protecting the border. In addition, Canada is making new commitments to appoint a Fentanyl Czar, we will list cartels as terrorists, ensure 24/7 eyes on the border, launch a Canada- U.S. Joint Strike Force to combat organized crime, fentanyl and money laundering. I have also signed a new intelligence directive on organized crime and fentanyl and we will be backing it with $200 million. Proposed tariffs will be paused for at least 30 days while we work together. Before the tariffs were made official, they were effective at getting behavior changes. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5124026-trump-trudeau-canada-tariff-delay/ President Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau agreed to a pause in implementing tariffs for at least a month, just hours after Trump agreed to delay tariffs on Mexico. By RVs logic, Trump caved on Canada tariffs too. But only for 30 days to see if Mexico and Canada put real muscle behind their words. Playing them like a violin. mspart.2 points

I feel like timing plays into discerning who he is committing to tomorrow. I thought I previously read that he was waiting until after NCAAs to decide. Fast forward to Iowa taking the PSU beatdown and losing out on the Ross lottery in the last week. I can see the Iowa donor saying enough is enough, what is it going to take to speed up the timeline and give our program the win. Go to Bo with this unbeatable offer, have him decide now, and let's get the bad taste of the recent results out of our mouths, and get us a win now. I don't feel as if OKST or Penn State would make the push to expedite the decision. That's where I'm leaning with this fun little show.2 points

Has he caved to china or canada yet? Not that I see. Only Mexico who is playing ball. Do you not remember what the goal of the tariffs is? Better border security. That is it. Gophers are important parts of ecosystems, providing many benefits to the soil and other species. Soil benefits Water management Gopher tunnels capture snowmelt and rainfall, which reduces surface water runoff and helps soil soak up water Soil formation Gophers bring minerals to the surface, which helps stimulate topsoil formation Aeration Gophers move and mix large amounts of soil, which improves aeration and reduces compaction Fertilization Gophers mix plant material and fecal waste into the soil, which increases fertility Habitat benefits Food source Gophers are a food source for many animals, including owls, coyotes, weasels, and snakes Shelter Gopher burrows provide shelter for salamanders, toads, and other animals that prefer cool, moist conditions Other benefits Fresh seedbed Gopher mounds provide fresh soil for new plants, which can increase plant variety Ecosystem health Gophers help ecosystems by aerating soil, eating insects, and mixing surface soil layers2 points

He teched yiannis brother twice in the cadet trials finals and the Elijah went on to get bronze at cadets because of Dreshauns injury only losing to the champ 7-6 (genos brother or nephew). Eli notably lost in the state finals to Ryder 3-0 not a big margin of victory guy but if you want to extrapolate out to current college guys. Someone noted there was nothing related to football in his commitment which I would think may mean he's all in on wrestling now. Not that okie state is not a good football program but that would also make sense as to why he chose there over ISU or Iowa.2 points

I listened to the Iowa Hawkeyes radio broadcast of the match. During the 149 match, when Parco was fading under SVN’s assault, Mark Ironside said, “I know he’s in better shape than that.” He couldn’t imagine an Iowa wrestler being outconditioned by anyone (ignoring the fact that PACE is literally the thing SVN does best). The entire program is stuck in the 1990s. Coaches, fans, announcers. Just after 56:00 in for the start of the discussion re: Parco. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

OK. So who won? Well, its complicated. There are at least three ways you can answer that question, so let's look at all three, shall we. Most Correct Matches You can only get ten right. So in the name of symmetry there were ten posters who got ten right. I want to thank @TylerDurden, @Techfall, @PortaJohn, @Nittanychris, @ionel, @CGriff, @AZ_wrestling, @666, PSUWrestling2425 (on HVI) and psu0408 (HVI) for keeping things neat and tidy. But wait. It turns out you can get ten correct and still not get them all right. psu0408 was feeling his oats a bit and added an eleventh category (which he got wrong - sorry, no points deductions - EXCEPT FORE YOU), so I am sorry, but he is eliminated from the competition. The True Iowa Homer Award goes to... Lets pause a moment to recognize a true individualist. In this age of social media driven peer pressures it can be so difficult to swim against the tide of popular opinion. So when a true hero emerges, we must celebrate him. While @Mr. PeanutButter may have lost this particular competition by traditional standards, he is not a hidebound traditionalist. His bravery has won over the heart of every true Iowa wrestling fan. And what could be more important than that? Well, bragging rights, of course. But "True Iowa Homer" is probably second best? It Is A Team Sport, Dummy (I have heard so many times. Mostly the dummy part but...) Award At the end of the day it comes down to the team score. So who was closest to the pin? As previously reported, our own TylerDurden takes the prize. Seer of seers, prognosticator of prognosticators. For the rest of the year all his predictions have the weight of law. He shall not be questioned. When his statements contradict known facts, it is the known fact that shall give way. Look on TylerDurden's Works, ye Mighty, and despair! The Lee Corso Award For Attention To Detail (or maybe it will be named the Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right Award) Award Ya know...about this team thing....isn't the final score the sum of the individual scores? And shouldn't we see who came closest there? Lee and I are glad you asked., If we sum of the individual deviations we get a better sense of who was "right" by not allowing two wrong answers to offset each other. @Techfall, step to the front of the class and take your bow. Wisdom (?) Of The Crowds Not so much. Unlike in years past the crowd was not very wise this year. With a final predicted score of 25.5 to 7.7 the Iowa portion was fine, but lack of faith in PSU to ring the bonus point cash register is frankly disappointing. Anyone using us to bet the spread (20.5, I think) would have taken a big L on the bet. We promise to do better next time. And as always, thank you all who participated. The Crowd not previously mentioned: @VakAttack @Spencerlee @PSUDad97 @MidwestMan @meZYNbrink @JPack @Interviewed_at_Weehawken @Hillbilly Jim @Gage @Dogbone @BruceyB @BIGTENFANBOY @BarSeries @BAC @Truzzcat @RawDog @Ragu @Pish @Pinnacle @nhs67 @Le duke @Jimmy Cinnabon @Husker_Du (though you made me work for it) @Gus @Gene Mills Fan @flyingcement @fishbane @CHROMEBIRD @bnwtwg @BloodRound @Barracuda141 @1032004 @RandolphTJones Same time next year (B1G schedule permitting)?2 points

Branch is doing pretty well considering what he's got to work with. Imagine his pitch to hot HS wrestlers: "yeah, we're within a thousand miles of an RTC and it's colder here than a witch's titty 90% of the time. Going outside is a pretty bad idea for 5 months of the year, so get used to some pasty-albino chubby chicks around the university swimming pool. There is nothing to do in the state of Wyoming if you don't plan on joining a white supremacist militia or herd cattle. We do have lots and lots of cold, open space".2 points

Well they used to just push guys out just to get the stall calls. Rules were changed so the guy pushing, if thats all he was doing, could get called for stalling on the pushout. I'm thinking that was ~10 year ago but I'm too lazy to look it up.1 point

During the 165lb match, Ironside seemed genuinely perplexed by a normal wrestling move. Paraphrasing, from 1:35:38 or so. Second MM scoring sequence: “They’re so good at re-shots. I guarantee they practice that on a regular, regular, regular basis. They all do it. … it’s not defensive wrestling, either. It’s like they’re using it as offense.” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
