  4. The most major culprit is likely that his first year he wasn't training full time in the sport, and those early years are where guys make the biggest jump in college. I disagree about his tank, though. He lost 3-1 without giving up a TD and was on Luffman's legs multiple times in the 3rd period, just couldn't finish, which i think goes back to my original point. I will say Luffman also beat Cohlton Schultz this year so he may have made some nice improvements himself. On the whole we tend to draw too many wide conclusions from small sample sizes, and expect consistent performance from young athletes; let's see where he's at in March.

  6. The difference is that diseases like polio do not mutate. So a vaccine can be 100% effective. Flu and covid mutate constantly. So a vaccine is always aiming at a moving target. And the more people who get the mutating diseases the more mutations there will be, making the job even harder.

  11. Absolutely a wrestling topic. One team stole their wrestling endowment to give it to football and then dropped the program. The other program is a team I hate, but not tonite.

  13. Yes, funny how there are good oligarchs and bad oligarchs. Biden never complained about the lizard, or the twitter guy or musk or anyone else as long as they were giving him their money. Those were good oligarchs, nothing to see here move along!!! mspart

  14. i love these young kids nowadays who throw around terms like fascist and oligarchs and have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. they sure weren't against oligarchs when they pumped pfizer vax in the butt twice a year. do as you're told, boy!

  23. It is possible to deserve it more while still not deserving it at all. The ORS should not be a lifetime achievement award. I, too, am in the camp that does not care for the Olympic redshirt for someone who did not attempt to qualify for the Olympics. There should be a trials attendance requirement with an appeals process to allow for injured athletes. That said, nothing will change because the NCAA has lost interest in applying existing eligibility rules, nevermind creating new ones, due to their losing streak in court.

  24. I think the most popular conspiracy theories are: 1. JFK assassination had another shooter/was orchestrated by FBI/CIA. 2. 9/11 was an inside job/not the result of hijacked airplanes. 3. UFOs are aliens visiting the planet and covered up by the U.S. government. 4. Covid was "planned" by US Government/Trump/Fauci/Biden to control population/get them vaccinated (or the result of a Chinese bioweapon attack) and covered up by U.S. 5. Lots of anti semitic BS surrounding the media/hollywood/holocaust (A big part of the 9/11 conspiracy theory is anti semitic as well). 6. Sandy Hook/Marjorie Stoneman Douglass/Las Vegas shooting/every other school shooting were all inside jobs with crisis actors to take away guns. 7. Moon landing/flat earth, but nobody really cares about this one anymore. 8. Every natural disaster is a conspiracy so FEMA can do something (you see something like this after every natural disaster). People believe this crap because the average person in this country is extremely stupid.

  25. Nelson Brands, Jacori Teemer, Gable Steveson, Sammy Sasso, Brock Hardy (just a Jr.), Michael Beard, Gavin Hoffman, Seth Nevills, Jakob Comacho, all graduated in 2018 and are still competing in college. As far as Olympic redshirt, someone like Gable who actually won an Olympic gold medal and won the '23 national FS world team trials certainly deserves one more than Ferarri, a 23-year-old sophomore who didn't wrestle freestyle at all last cycle.

  32. To sort of prove your point, 100*0=0, just like 5*0=0. Not deserving is simply just not deserving. From someone who is definitely not a fan of him as a person, I am pumped to see him because he is the best wrestler on the planet this millennium and our overall product of wrestling, regardless of styles, is better when he is wrestling. His shtick may be annoying, but to deny that the talent, ability, and performances aren't up to snuff is a personal thing for you as well as anyone else who is 'Meh' about it. The mfckr is the best in the highest weight class (weight classes exist for a reason). As an aside, and not just a direct response to you but to anybody who things they deserve to have an opinion: The only people who deserve an opinion on ORS are those who have earned it and those who are making the legislation/rules about it. Otherwise, it's whinging by definition. It could easily be argued that he is in the same class of 2019, because he did, in fact, earn the ORS. That means for every class of 2019 graduate who did not, he deserves the same eligibility.

  35. what aspect of that grows the sport. I'm not talking about providing services to a captive audience, I'm talking about either making the sport palatable to people who aren't already involved, or challenging/refining concepts within the community.

  36. They cover matches that otherwise wouldn't get quality, nationwide coverage. They even put a fair amount of it out for free on YouTube, including some free livestreams like the recent Bishop McCort-Wyoming Sem dual. They have a crazy number of rankings, updated regularly, at all levels of wrestling. Articles, recaps, interviews, and so on. Brackets with live updates. Athlete profile pages with biographies, match videos, and results. A fun and accessible wrestling podcast with nice production quality. Tons of free video content, with a ton of variety. Watch Bader's Chance documentary, or watch Tyler's video with Bo and Jax on the first day of open recruiting. High quality work that gives insights and access you wouldn't get otherwise. And they're literally putting on events. They matched up Ono and Spencer Lee. Is there more of a dream matchup even possible of any current guys at any weight? Insane to say they don't do anything for wrestling.

  37. If i didn't need to follow athletes at tournaments I wouldn't. I don't think they do anything for wrestling. There are big changes coming to college next year, potentially disastrous, and they have hardly mentioned them.

  38. I know I am. Luckily this will be the first mass exodus of covid-year wrestlers. There will still be a good number, but a lot of guys will be clearing out. The number one wrestler at 125, 141, 157, 174, 184, 197, and 285 will all be done, if I'm not mistaken, to list a few.

  40. Paddy wrestled 160 Sr. of high school year 4 yrs. ago, was time to bump, probably should have at the start of the season but, coming of a major knee surgery, needed to settle in, get in top form/shape and bump. Watch his last two matches at 157, he was a bit winded by middle of the 2nd period, never happens with him, has a huge tank, watch those close, he a bit shaky coming off the mat. Love & respect Sammy 100%, I won't comment on, "he can't beat Sasso". Better decision all around for Paddy, Sammy and the team. Go Bucks!!!
