  1. the argument that '106 is a weak weight' is absolutely stupid. they are annually the best wrestlers in the country. the most promising prospects. the list of star wrestlers (in college or international) has more guys that were 106's at one point than any other single weight. From Spencer Lee to David Taylor. those that poo-poo on it are usually guys that were 152 as freshmen and are bitter b/c they didn't place at the state tournament and lighter guys did. 106 is invaluable for the the development of this country's best.

  2. Keep your team healthy for the NCAA tournament, the only thing that matters for a coach's pay and an athlete's record. The other season tourneys are worthless. It's only about NCAA.

  4. Key word is incentivize--or remove disincentives. One thing that would help is a system that incentivizes WINS--and increases that incentive for QUALITY WINS. The issue now is that losses--particularly bad losses to low ranked guys or stud redshirt true freshman without much ranking--is a killer. Further, if you have a high ranking, you don't need to do much to keep it. Why not incentivize wins and quality wins--don't punish losses at all? Just seed based on who has the most winning weighted for quality. This way guys will be encouraged to get as many wins as they can--particularly the quality wins--and no downside for losing. Put in some guardrails for allowable number of matches so guys don't wrestle too much. Guys will want the matches and the ducking will decrease. Just a thought.....

  5. I put the OP in Word just to check out the word count. 1,485 words! Pretty impressive. I can't really tell what OP is mad about, or what the quoted person is mad about, but another weight or two in the 90 lb space between 197 and 285 sure makes sense to me!

  7. If you listen to FRL, Ben Askren has said for the last three years that once Peyton Mocco graduates (one of KOT's best friends) that KOT was planning to go 174 all along. Askren even hyped the potential of KOT going up into Starocci's weight before it was known that Starocci would be moving to 184. So I would assume everyone in college wrestling knew that last year was Keegan's last year at 165.

  10. lol @ 'my censorship' i don't think i banned a single person. maybe 1 or 2. name the '5 significant'. i hope you're not including 'Ban Basketball' who was an utter waste of space and who was banned from every wrestling board he ever registered for. go ahead and name them. whatever the case, it's not going to change the fact that you add nothing here. i sincerely wish there were actually more level-headed posters on the left that challenged me/us and made succinct points.

  11. If that wasn't targeting then there is no such thing as targeting. Slightly lowered his helmet and hit a defenseless receiver helmet to helmet knocking him out.

  13. Reallocating the weights to assure that one exists between the weights of 197 and 285 is the argument. The rest of whatever you're arguing is some sort of strawman that I'm not sure where it is coming from. A middleweight doesn't get removed. All of the middle weights get moved around to account for different distributions of weight classes that do exist. The current system is completely asinine in systematically removing an entire group of athletic people from getting to wrestle in order to provide a mood boost to some JV kids that couldn't crack the varsity lineup. I also view it a slap in the face of the meritocracy that wrestling stands for.

  18. What I've found that has been corroborated but as we know information can change -Matthew Alan Livelsberger -Active Duty (Special Forces-Green Beret) -Went to Fort Bragg and deployed to Afghanistan 2009 ***Both he and the New Orleans suspect went to Fort Bragg and were in Afghanistan at the same time but at this point there is no confirmed link to each other in planning these attacks** -arrived to the hotel, drove off, and returned -sustained Head shot prior to detonation -Saw the claims that the cybertruck was programmed to self drive but as of yet haven't seen anywhere where that has been officially confirmed -They also announced at this time they do not have 100% confirmation that the driver was Livelsberger but they have bits of tattoos that they believe shows that it is indeed him

  23. The crazy part is that I think Hamiti moved to 174 to get away from KOT! Would love to see those guys wrestle in the finals. Hamiti has such slick takedowns, but KOT has insanely tough defense. 174 is going to be super fun at NCAAs with Haines, KOT and Hamiti. Those guys have all separated from the rest, imo, even though I have Haines and KOT a little higher than Hamiti.

  24. Definitely thought it was targeting as it played out. Last night I listened to someone give what I felt was a pretty good explanation why it wasn’t called. I pulled it back up to watch through that ‘lens’. Nope, still think it was targeting. Definitely lowered his head even though he didn’t get to the crown of the helmet, he definitely lowered his head and the helmet made first contact. He had the opportunity to lower his level and blast double.

  33. 100%...There is a legendary wrestler who never won PIAA at the lower weights. Jumped to 160 senior year. Won it. Then went on to win 3 national titles in D1. Lower weight guys are just better wrestlers.

I would think that an EV burning might be more destructive to the environment then a gas car burning. I know you were probably just joking about the true believer's stuff.

  35. The left stopped making succinct points generations ago. They are about feelings and emotion. They can't argue logically because their positions are not logical. Granted this is a generality, but fit the bill over time. Ds do not measure results, only money spent. When things don't work, obviously there is not enough money spent. Ds cared so much about sterilizing minors until it became apparent that this was not logical and they couldn't support it among the people. Even Matt Walsh was before Congress urging them to pass a bill to eliminate the practice. A D questioned his qualifications and in his response he asked the D if he thought chemically castrating minors was a good thing. After about 20 seconds of silence the response from the D was "we ask the questions here". Since the country has turned on them on this issue, they are in full retract mode. Even AOC removed her pronouns after declaring them oh so important. They cannot formulate coherent positions on their most basic issues. Again, I say this in general. mspart

  36. If your point is that teenagers who develop earlier can beat a more skilled but less mature individual, you have me beat. But by the time they both reach college and become "men" who wins? The less skilled man or the late blooming man with superior wrestling ability?
    1 point
  37. This is such a basic take. Kids develop at different ages. The fact that a 4 timer might have started at 106 doesn't mean he is any less skilled than someone who came in as a freshman at 160.. they were just smaller in their mid teens.. it has nothing to do with trajectory. Sure, it's more impressive for a freshman to win a state title at 140 than 103, but it also says more about where they are maturity and developmentally than their actual wrestling ability. There have been countless wrestlers who were "phenoms" that peaked early in high school due to their early development. Then those that matured later surpassed them once they caught up physically. Judging a high schooler's trajectory is much more than which weight they are wrestling as a freshman/sophomore.

  38. I want to start by saying that I respect your posts and find your input well thought out and generally insightful. But with your claim that most 149s would go to 157 rather than 141 is irrelevant. Both weight classes are in no man's land when it comes to Olympic weights. Naturally those with 65kg aspirations would prefer to wrestle at 141 which is much closer to 65kg than either 149 or 157.. the reality is that those that end up at 149 more often than not have simply gotten to large to be at their best at 65kg. Most of the problems come from guys having to try to make Olympic weights. If we had 10 weight classes during Olympic years, we wouldn't see Green, Pantaleo, Oliver, Retherford, etc. trying to force themselves into a weight where they are not at there best. Most of these guys are several years removed from college and the weights that they competed at 3, 4, or 5+ years ago isn't their issue at performing at the OTTs. The problem is that we have 15+ pounds difference between Olympic weight classes. The reality is, with the current distribution, 149s are either small for 74 or too big for 65, and 157s are far too large for 65 but still undersized for 74. Zane Retherford is perfect example of someone that isn't large enough to be at his best at 74kg but can't compete at his highest level at 65. James Green is an even better example of someone who can't make 65kg effectively, but isn't large enough to compete at 74kg. If you were talking only about current college athletes, I might agree, but more often than not, we are talking about graduates who have had several years to adjust their bodies to an ideal weight. When we are considering college weights to the 10 world weights, as you stated in your post, outside of the heaviest 4 weight classes, the rest are within a few pounds of the college weights.. which wouldn't be an issue for the athletes to adjust to. The problem is that we have athletes focused on Olympic weights which have huge gaps. If the options were 143 and 154 for Olympics, then you would see a more even split among 149s, but the fact is that 149s really only have 1 option, 143, or non olympic 154 which is an obstacle for their Olympic dreams. Knowing that many of them don't have a hope to get big enough and wrestle well enough to dethrone Dake or Burroughs at 163, they have no choice but to make the brutal cut to 143 instead. An athletes ideal weight is personal, the world weight classes are what they are. If Jordan Oliver's ideal weight was 65kg, he would have gone from 133 to 141.. but the reality is he was too big for 141, and luckily college had a weight for him. He didn't have to choose between 143 and 154. He could wrestle at 149 which was most comfortable.

  40. Hello all, glad to see this thread again Senior nationals are going on right now for FS. Today was the 1st day. No real big news. Goleij beat Bazri in the semi at 97 and will almost certainly beat Babaloo in the final tomorrow. So he will likely be Azarpira's obstacle in making the 2025 world team. 57 still very weak. Sarlak and Veisi lost to an unknown guy from Qom in the last seconds, lol. The final will be the Qom guy vs Valizadeh who went to junior worlds this year but had the results of DNP. He beat 17 year old Khateri 8 - 5 in the semi. I think none of these guys, including Sarlak who has to be around 25 or 26, would medal at junior worlds let alone senior.

  45. There's no reason for this match to occur. That is why I would be shocked if it did. Why would you burn a year of Ferrari's eligibility with Keckeisen and Starocci in the field when he could potentially be a title threat as a freshman next year?

  46. The only downside is the lower frequency they have duals and tournaments. But when they do, they are well executed and good value. ESPN+ - good value at 11.99 per month and a large volume of mostly duals (with a few tournaments sprinkled in), but often poorly executed (unclear scores, no riding time clocks, fixed camera that misses side mat action, etc) BTN+ - 12.99 a month and fewer matches than ESPN+, but the matches are big ten schools so I suppose they have more draw for some people. Quality here is simliar to ESPN+ - they can bring in a good team for a big dual though. Smaller duals will not get that attention Flo - 29.99 per month - content volume toward the higher end, more tournament driven, but does have select duals. Worse value for ongoing streams, but they have the best stored library of their old content if you wanted to go back and see recorded duals or tournaments from years past. They have a lot of things I don't use as well, so the value may be there for some folks. I am mostly here for the live matches/tournaments Rokfin - 14.99 per month and then sometimes you need to pay extra for the bigger tournaments. I find the platform difficult to navigate and this is the only one I'm not subscribing to here at the moment. And then there are the channels that only show up through basic cable or direct TV like ACCNX and the standard Big Ten channel (not Big Ten Plus). This is the worst overall value for wrestling since it is probably 70 dollars a month and doesn't include much. There are a few schools who require a PPV for their own home duals like North Dakota State, Little Rock, and a few others I'm forgetting.
