  1. @Elevator although this is an interesting matchup you forgot it's Cinnabon season so to gain traction you have come up with a ridiculous thread title and subject like, "If Josh Barr loses to Beard does PSU finish 3rd in the team title?" or "If Josh Barr wins will Marisola transfer to Iowa?" or "Is this the year Iowa wins the NCAA title if Josh Barr loses to Michael Beard"

  5. I love the gopher pic, thanks for that. I lived in Apple Valley for 7 years so that means something to me. Yes, I could use a vacation for sure. I'll get around 2 weeks when Christmas comes. I don't have much reason to come here during vacation or holidays. But it is fun and interesting to see what people think out there. mspart

  6. Kid I was around when he was growing up (wrestler/football) is in his third NFL year, mostly practice squads. Making at least $250,000 for about a half year of work and should be getting a little bit of a pension. When his NFL career is over, he has a degree from a great academic institution. Not a bad way to start your post-academic career.

  7. Event Details December 6, 2024 Francis Howell High School St. Charles, MO 63304 Streamed Live on UFC FIGHT PASS 6:00 PM: Iowa vs. Princeton 8:00 PM: Iowa vs. Army Does anyone know anything about this? I live in the St. Louis area and just got an email about the meet. It hasn't been publicized very well. Is Iowa going to send their starters? It just seems strange for Iowa to have a home dual meet at a St. Louis area high school.

  8. You've seen the picture. That one of your favorite wrestler with a hand raised at the end of a tough match. It's a great picture except there's an amputated hand grabbing his or her wrist. Where did that hand come from? Who does it belong to? That disembodied hand belongs to a referee. For all of your hard work, for all of your attention to detail, for the fortitude to enter hostile arenas and make the tough call, we want to give this to you, the unsung heroes of the wrestling world: (Credit to the great Tony Rotundo, https://tonyrotundo.smugmug.com/WRESTLERS-ARE-WARRIORS)

  12. Concussions are just one of those things you don't mess with. Saying a kid is faking is 1) impossible to prove, and 2) extremely bad faith and the ultimate adult child response. We had a kid on our team in college, absolute world beater, built like a brick sh*thouse, total monster in the room, and on the mat for the two occasions we were able to get him out there. Problem was, he had an issue with concussions. Flick him in the forehead the wrong way and congratulations, he can no longer retain anything that he reads for the next six months. This is not to be messed around with. Wrestling is a sport. It is of zero significance against the livelihood and wellbeing of the people who participate in it as athletes.

  13. Never got into Mad Max movies. I extraordinary a few favorites. Princess Bride, Stardust, Prince of Persia, John Carter of Mars, and League of extraordinary gentlemen. I also the Hulk movies. Granted they are not premier productions, but I love the Hulk. I have others that I have mentioned before, but i watch these repeatedly. I know some have been panned but I like them. Stardust is under rated i think. Great story!. mspart

  18. I think someone mentioned this option in an earlier thread. IIRC the cut to 174 isn't pleasant for Gabe, plus why not make the Focus suck down instead? Assuming 174 isn't an option for Gabe, my preference would be to see PK win the spot. Brands get a lot of credit for AAing a couple of seasons ago, but I thought he had a pretty good draw, plus he isn't exactly known for racking up bonus pts as you mentioned. I just feel like Kennedy has more upside, including intangibles like team chemistry and firing up the boys. Hard to imagine him transferring given how much he loves Iowa. I wouldn't be surprised to see him stick it out and fight for his spot in the lineup.

  19. What I've read is that it's a community outreach type thing - trying to spark wrestling interest in an area that doesn't have much of it. You should go if you can. Should be an entertaining event. Iowa is expected to have all it's starters, minus Jacori, competing

  20. Footwork is vital in GR, but you typically don't need the deep penetration steps of a leg attack. I was comfortably able to wrestle GR without an ACL in my left knee post-college. Hopefully DeSanto finds similar good health.

  22. Wuh? The left and the media? The Republicans are now in charge. That election is done and over. You think vilifying the left and the media is what is needed now? I don't think so. Wuh? Democratic voters don't believe in science? Half the voting citizens in the US? I don't think so. Wuh? These are the people that run the biggest US corporations. They are dumb? I don't think so. Wuh? "The military needs purged"? I don't think so. This board is open to the world. Literally, anyone can post. North Koreans, Chinese, Russians, Iranians.... any a-hole. But, that doesn't mean that a-holes aren't noticed when they post. This appears to be a whole lot of un-American posting right here - and it isn't by accident. It takes so few people to infect large social media audiences, and each can easily infect many dozens of sites per day. America's enemies have been using social media to divide Americans for much longer than this board has existed. What is surprising is that Americans, for the most part, still refuse to accept the reality of what is happening. (Perhaps it's because the bad guys keep trying to attack anyone that sounds the alarm?)

  27. If we had jail sentences for employers who hired illegal immigrants, there wouldn’t be a problem. But, many industries (and donors) rely on cheap labor. But, because the people who hire these illegal immigrants are often political donors, that would never happen. (Of course, if this happened, we’d then see labor laws relaxed and child labor laws go away. In many states, they’re already weakening or killing those laws off.) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  38. CrossFit Games GOAT, Mat Fraser, had physiological testing done that would show his 5'7", 190lb, frame needed 8000 to 9000 cals to support his two 2 to 2.5-hr intense training sessions per day. He's talked about 500 cals in super-concentrated high-cal juice/sports drinks immediately after each session as being essential for muscular recovery and calorie accumulation. Modern-day wrestlers are doing these same recovery carb cals after weigh-ins and between matches. If Keuter is doing it after lifting and after practice each day, he's down to 5k needed for meals, protein shakes, and snacks.

  39. Keuter is a classic heavy tweener, he has to push calories because being 215 is a liability at HWT. Tervel gave a great interview about this back in the day, he was a 220-30 tweener kind guy and really put on some mass after missing out on the olympics in '08. It immediately helped, but was quite onerous for him. Powerlifters, Strongmen etc also give major insight into what this is like. If you're REALLY putting in the time to be hwt competitive, eating is a full time job, and becomes pretty unpleasant.

The question will be what they can get out of 4x NQ Brady, 2x NQ McGonagle and freshman Hipolito, Sasso and Mullen. They could qualify all 10 at the NCAA.... Stanford had a couple big holes - 184 and 285 and I dont' see their best `10 matching up....but as I stated, if everything went right for Stanford and VA tech had a couple set-backs, then it is possible. All things equal, I don't think so. It's a loooonnngggg season.
