  1. Awful news. RIP. Some additional context - evidently he suffered a cardiac arrest in August while playing soccer.

  2. I know those 51 intelligence analysts agree. What say you about that?

  3. I mean... he called him out and conveniently waited until the final Stanza of a multi-page post on social media to mention that the weight needed to be 190lbs. I call that cowardice.

  5. Strangely called him out at 190, which isn't a weight class and which he knows Ferrari is too big for.

  6. Cons - DT is coming up in weight, I disagree on the 'part-time' part as I guarantee you that he will have a full, proper camp. If the version of DT we saw that pinned returning worlds medalist, a much younger (prime) and rested Valencia is out of shape, then the in-shape version is going to be a world beater. - Sadulaev could be considerably older. We'll never actually know. He is also coming off what used to be considered career ending surgery - Ghasempour is also coming off what used to be considered career ending surgery. DT hasn't had any career ending surgery aside for the whooping that got put on him by Brooks at OTT. I agree on the size thing, though. He is smaller. Albeit, Ghasempour was 86 KG and forced out. Sadulaev has been 97 KG and got CHONKY, so dropping back down to 92 KG (~202lbs) for the first time since 2016 Olympics (in which he was 86 KG) might not go so well for him.

  7. The good news is that it makes no difference. Both 142/149 and 150/157 had 22 unique winners in the 26 season span from 1998 to 2024. That put them 2 up on 190/197. Shorten it by a season and it is a one unique champ lead, but still a lead. You proposed unique champs as the definition of parity (and that is what I polled on), but you can also look at it more broadly through the lens of unique AAs. Viewed this way, 140/149 slides to second behind 167/174 while 150/157 plummets to seventh. But no matter how you look at it the weight extremes are also the dominance extremes. The heavies have the least amount of parity and the lights are not far behind regardless of whether you are counting unique champs or unique AAs. This, too, is unaffected by the choice of 1998 over 1999 as the start year.

  8. Meh, I wouldn’t give Ferrari much chance against Starocci and going 197 would’ve felt like him ducking Keckeisen IMO. Would much rather see him vs Keckeisen (assuming Ferrari even finishes the season and makes it to the finals).

  9. Letters like that are examples of what’s wrong with politics today—using strong persuasion tactics built on nonsense. It’s outrageous to claim: “Vice President Harris has been a strong steward of the U.S. economy while working tirelessly to strengthen the middle class. During her time as Vice President, she has worked on behalf of American families to lower costs, cut taxes, raise wages, and promote worker organizing.” Every shopper knows the economy is worse. Hey Kamala—what’s your actual plan to fix the economy? I grew up in the middle class... Do you really believe this, or are you just showing how easily politicians manipulate the people?

  10. Hi, so Abdullah Kurbanov (Russian wrestler) was interviewed by an Iranian news agency (link below) where he claims that he relinquished his place for Abdulrashid Sadulaev for the non-olympic worlds in Tirana, Albania next month. I just want to ask some Parsi speakers if this what he actually said. Does he definitively claim that Sadulaev is wrestling in Tirana, or is it just his opinion? https://www.tasnimnews.com/fa/news/2024/09/21/3162315/کوربانوف-یزدانی-بهترین-کشتی-گیر-بود-کامران-تیلور-را-می-برد

  12. I was reading x about Alan Vera (sad story), and was surprised to see Martin was dumb enough to fall for the “more athletes are dying suddenly now than before the vax!!” nonsense. So I clicked on his profile, and the people he’s reposting are pretty much a who’s who of right wing nut jobs. Like @Jason Bryant, I try to stay out of political convos. I vote for people from both parties, probably slightly more Republican, but I will say that conservative social media personalities are more likely to be terrible people IMO. Here is some of who/what Martin has reposted in just the past week: -Jeremy Kauffman (has said whoever kills Kamala is an American hero) -“Paul Szypula” (fake name that evidence suggests could be Russian propaganda…yeah yeah “but Russia!”) -a post claiming that Jill Biden is the commander in chief -Libs of Tik Tok, and Martin comments implying that the left wants to be the party of pedophiles -catturd -ALEX JONES and a separate video trying to claim Haitians in Springfield are eating cats At least he sprinkles in a couple wrestling posts here and there.

  13. I was updating my conference interactive brackets with the team changes and figured I would post these here as a "preseason" conference rankings. These are the team's starters/rankings according to wrestlestat and so freshman who are projected to start are beginning at the back of the field since they don't have matches but figured it would be an interesting thing to see how teams progress as the season goes along. 15. I am paraphrasing here so some of the details may be wrong but the general situation is thus: The Arizona thing has to do with the idea of "ex post facto". People who registered to vote in the legal way prior to 1996 (or so) did not have to prove citizenship. They had to declare it. When the law was changed in AZ to require a proof of citizenship they grandfathered the already registered voters and allowed them to maintain their status without further administrative requirements. So, we have people who have been registered to vote for 28 years or more (i.e. 46 year olds and older) who the Supreme Court of Arizona found could maintain their voting registration status due to the fact that they registered legally when they did register. The idea that any random selection of 100,000 people in America over the age of 46 would lean republican is not very surprising.

  20. These are the economist cousins of the 51 intelligence officers who wrote a Russian hoax letter and the FBI "statisticians" who think, magically, no murders have happened in several major cities. They are also related to the top government expert who declared unequivocally that "Masks are not effective against an airborne virus" several days before he recommended full masking, double masking, lockdowns of every sector of the economy, closing schools for years, etc. All of these "experts" come from the same DNA (Democrat Nincompoop Academy).

  22. I think its more of Carter is just better at this point and time. Barr does not have a ton of offense at this point and time I would pick him to AA but have no confidence he 100% beats guys like Little,Cardenas,Elam,Beard let alone Ferrari or Buchannen. Carter would still be the pick to win the weight. There is also the chance PK beats carter and you come away with a second place and then potentially a blood round finish with Barr. Worst case if you flip flop in my opinion is like 7th for Barr at 184 (I think this is worst case) and carter second at 197 (also worst case barring something catastrophic).

  23. One thing I think we should think critically about is if accounts like End Wokeness exist solely to keep you angry and coming back for more. Here is a list of stations being bought by George Soros - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_radio_stations_owned_by_Audacy,_Inc.# Unsurprisingly, the talk radio stations appear to mostly be conservative (even a Spanish language conservative talk radio station in Miami). I doubt even these see a change because liberal talk radio has failed every time it has been tried. The George Soros haters should be happy he's putting his money in a dying medium.

  24. As many know, I tend to stay away from political discussion because, well, it just usually devolves into bickering and eventually gets into personal attacks and potshots. My question is for those here who will post about your favored candidate/party - or more often than not - post negative things about the candidate/party you actually don't like. What is the end goal here, to convince someone that you're correct or you've exposed some type of "gotcha" that's going to change the other side's opinion? I'm generally wondering what the obsession is to constantly doing this. This might be the worst I've ever experienced in my 20-something years working on social media (FB came out my last year of college). I've had to mute, unfollow and straight up unfriend people due to the volume of schlock being posted (again, from both sides of the aisle). I do understand the value in healthy discussion and the exchange of ideas, because that's what makes discussion boards and (some) comments sections places for knowledge to bloom, but the Trump side isn't going to change the opinion of the Harris side and vice versa due to some weblink (regardless of its origin). I mentioned on another thread, this is a "people watching" part of the boards for me, but since we're all wrestling people, I figure you folks are the ones I generally interact with the most given our shared passions for the sport.

  25. Probably 4th grade. Also, let us be crystal clear... Starocci would not be going up ANY weight from the last weight he competed at. 86 KG is ~189.6lbs. I guess I am wrong. He would be going up ~0.4lbs from the last weight he competed at.

  26. WKN, thank you for doing this. I've got another one. Little more challenging. Transfer portal success since 2018/2019 season. To qualify wrestler must've competed in his conference tournament prior to transferring. Wrestlers like Mesenbrink wouldn't count

  28. The idea is that your body can handle way more than you think—like 10 times more. It’s all about pushing past your limits, training through exhaustion, and learning to perform under extreme mental/physical stress. It builds resilience... A Navy Seal (player's dad) put my youth baseball team through a 15m workout this September. I was cursing his name for a week...

  32. FBI "data" is as honest and reliable as FBI FISA warrants. The paper it is written on is only useful to wipe your backside after taking a blowout dump resulting from an overdoze of TurboLax. Now, apply the only good use of any FBI document whatsoever. Throw in anything signed by 51 intelligence officers for your next butt wipe and you will have maximized the usefulness to society of both documents.

  36. I wonder why the Ds want to distinguish violent crime with other crime. Is it perhaps that crime in general has gone up? I think everyone's experience here would indicate that. But they want to concentrate on violent crime which, as noted above, has not been reported from our most violent cities. In other words, the fix is in. But it doesn't take a genius to figure out that FBI report is bunkus. mspart

  42. So . . . the FBI is either lying or wrong. Seems like the two leading skills for the FBI is lying AND being wrong. It is bad when one set of swampies directly contradict another set of swampies. These two swampie brethren are within the DOJ swamp family. So, Tiny, who you gonna believe? The FBI or the actual victims of crimes? Nevermind, we already know.
