I see lots of posters are drinking tonight. Carr did not dominate Mesenbrink. He won 9-8 and would likely have lost if MM knew the score or the match continued. MM teched Monday, which was something Nolf came nowhere to doing. Monday is also probably better at freestyle than Carr, who only beat MM on a riding point in, yes, folkstyle. Mesenbrink is a U 20 World champ and also a U20 silver medalist. Better credentials than Nolf at that age. But let me be clear: I'm not saying MM is better than Nolf right now.. He's about 7 years younger. Get off the juice. I bet you have a hangover in the morning. Alluseeistheroomspinning5 points

These arguments are getting embarassing. Shit talking between the athletes = totally fine. Fans booing a heated opponent during the match, even if he is one of the greatest champions in our country's history = totally fine. Fans booing a heated opponent after the match, even if he's one of the greatest champions in our country's history and he may have just wrestled his last match = hmmm, kinda lame but maybe you can let it slide. 60 year old fan running over to the rail to scream at a heated opponent/one of the greatest champions in our country's history to go home and his career is over = ....I mean, it's a free country, but you look like a moron. Anyone criticizing the athletes for being arrogant, guess what, they're all arrogant to some degree. Get over yourself. You can't be siding with Carter Starocci and Bo Nickal because the other, far more successful wrestler is arrogant.4 points

Folkstyle very exciting. Freestyle ,tolerable. Greco ,not so much. Folkstyle has so many more elements to it. Neutral position. Bottom and top wrestling. 3 periods. 3 point takedowns. 2,3 and 4 points for ( controlled) back exposure. Riding time is not needed but it is there. They use normal brackets. Thats a big plus. They have full wrestle backs for consolation. That is a huge plus.4 points

Folkstyle embodies the purpose of wrestling too. It isn't a rolly-poly, starfish on the ground, throw a brick during every set of points style. Something about "control".3 points

We seem to be getting confused about PSU. Snyder, Gilman and Dake did not attend PSU. They may train (and coach) there, but were mostly finished products by the time they arrived. THey are all there for their own reasons, and I hope they are happy. None of them significantly improved their results upon their arrival to PSU; maybe they have gotten better, but their results have not. Just for the record: OTT winners universities: Penn State 2, Michigan 1, Ohio State 1, Cornell 1, Iowa 1.3 points

I've never really understood Greco. FS is good because it stresses takedowns, but I like Folk best because I think being able to work over guys for nearfall points is the funnest part of the sport. Plus it has neutral takedowns just like FS. Folk is the best2 points

Have to agree that outside of just athletics these schools are night and day different. For those that aren't aware, UB has an undergrad population over 20k students (about the same as Oklahoma st- not a small school by any standards) Edinboro is right around 3k. UB has a lot to offer academically to Threadkilla's point, multiple campuses and a larger surrounding city/economy. While I have heard from some close to Stutzman's regime that the AD is not trustworthy when it comes to this topic, I don't think comparing Vinson coming in to that situation is at all the same.2 points
-
Edinboro had no choice, Big Bruce was Athletic Director and had to make tough decisions. The school is failing and there were even talks of shuttering the place without a substantial reorg. Buffalo on the other hand is one of the Flagships of SUNY and has great programs and a Medical College. They are here to stay.2 points

Damn. Kids is incredible. Yet you still have him #2 behind PJ Duke? Seems like a clear #1 in his recruiting class. What am I missing?2 points

I see no way that Jesse Mendez takes a redshirt. Dude just won a natty and seems to be about the most competitive athlete in college wrestling.2 points

beat Knox two matches to zero to make u17 team last year won gold 2-1 against Jax in High school 2-0 against Lilledahl beat him in iron man finals 2 years ago beat Nico at the trials beat Ramos at clarion open apparently trains with Jesse a lot at Ohio State 2 high school losses one off a fleeing the mat call to deluca at iron man in OT that he avenged for 3/4 and to davino in rideouts this year at ironman I think he is the best p4p wrestler in high school right now as far as recruiting goes you have him, jax, knox all sorta around the same weight for now although I think blaze and Jax end up in the 141-149 range so I would have him as the #2 recruit for 2025 behind duke simply because of separation from guys around your weight. I hope he goes to Ohio State he seems to train there a lot and with Jesse and Feldman having at least two more years welsh having three and him and davino coming in I think they could push PSU potentially.2 points

Don’t get too excited about this. This is protocol for UW. They extended all of their winter coaches by one year, happens each and every year. Nothing out of the ordinary here, only wrestling promotes this like Bono earned it. He probably stood over the social intern and made him put together the graphic and post it.2 points

Surely you jest troll. Admittedly I do root against Penn State as the evil empire—but what are you talking about saying Several Penn State immortals fell? David Taylor fell to another from NLWC in Brooks in the finals. Nolf fell to fellow NLWC teammate Dake in the finals—and he beat freakin Jordan Burrroughs to get there. Nick Lee fell to fellow NLWC teammate in the finals. NLWC member Snyder dominated. The only Penn State immortal that fell to someone outside of Happy Valley was Gilman (some guy named Spencer Lee). They were about as dominant as you can be. I mean three of the six finals had BOTH guys in the finals. If you are a recruit and have aspirations of being an NCAA champ and an Olympian—I can think of NO BETTER recruiting advertisement than what went on this weekend. It scares me actually.2 points

The exposure to GR isn't helping Greco its hurting Men's free style grouping them. WFS is increasing fast and can stand alone.2 points

I was watching on delay so I couldn't get match order without spoilers and I shouldn't need an auxiliary app to follow a sport I've watched since I was only crawling. You can say it doesn't hurt to group styles but It's simply not true. I had some friends over and even some first time viewers and the WFS and GR turned them off and they likely ain't coming back. The truth is MFS is hardly popular why burden it even more so with styles that are known to be even less popular?2 points
-
Yes it was a horrible format. Extremely boring and drawn out. Americans do not like Greco and forcing it on us won’t change that. I also don’t care about consos in any style.2 points

DT is still top four in the world (Yaz, Brooks, Zahid, DT in no particular order). That’s incredible given that he’s 33, which is old for elite wrestling, and has kids and businesses. DT’s resume is amazing too. Two Hodges and four world-level golds including an Olympic gold (as well as five total medals). And he managed win golds after being stuck behind a prime Burroughs. He was like 5-1 versus Yazdani. That alone is insane. Simply a fantastic wrestler who just lost to a monster in Brooks with grace and class. You can’t ask for more in an athlete.2 points

The matches seemed to be in almost no order at all for most of the tournament for sure. It was frustrating. People can say that the schedule was available online, and it was but why not just do things in order? Why show a WFS and Greco-Roman match for every MFS? It makes for a frustrating and boring experience that no one wants. This is not the way to push WFS or Greco-Roman it will foster contempt. I don't need to expand on why random order is idiotic but I will say tournaments are hard enough to catch the matches you want when the order is intuitive. Making it random and having to have a treasure map makes it worse. Awful product, can't wait till Monday so Pyles can tell us what an amazing product it is though.2 points

DT is the goat, in his own regard. Brooks is just the next man up after an impressive career for DT. time waits for no man2 points

The moment you equated staying home to be there for his family, as a new child was being born, to ducking, you showed your bias. Hard to take your story as an objective retelling of what happened.2 points

I have Brooks as favorite for gold. I bet DT is going to do whatever he can to help Brooks do it, including insights vs Yazdani.2 points

Messenbrink was acting all Desanto in that match. Several times he was a little extra. Shove was not unwarranted.2 points

I had an uncle Boozie just like Biden did. Mine wasn’t eaten by cannibals like he claims his was. Biden claims his uncle Boozies plane went down over New Guinea and his body was never found because of cannibalism. The military claims this is a lie as the plane was recorded as lost at sea. Old mush brain sure lies a lot.1 point

Finally got through my tape of the matches, few random thoughts. Great to see Spencer Lee having persevered to look like Spencer Lee again. The announcers on the main broadcast weren't good or knowledgeable, but honestly I liked them better than BTN or ESPN simply because they were quiet and didn't get in the way of the wrestling. Snyder is just a wrestler's wrestler. All he does is get in great position and do basic wrestling incredibly well. Taylor did look a little flat, but Brooks is a beast. I remember watching him stop Amine, an Olympic medalist, when he was in as deep as humanly possible on a shot a couple of years ago. And now he's just even stronger and better. Flat or not, that was David Taylor who couldn't finish against him. Best wishes to Kyle Dake, an extraordinary technical wrestler who showed a true human side today. I'm generally only interested in MFS, but I have to say the women are improving at lightning speed. You can see why it's such a growing sport. Maybe Jimenez could be our Caitlin Clark in a few years.1 point

My god, lol. Lotta talk from the guy who didn't make the walk. And lol at Mesenbrink wouldn't retaliate, he was doing crap the whole match. I take back my standing ovation from Kansas City!1 point

This board seems to be in the process of getting overrun by bitter and classless people that like to troll and otherwise complain and belittle. Less and less actual substance. More and more attempts to insult or think they are insultingly ‘funny’ … I expect driven by some deep down insecurity.1 point

I hate correct throws and slips. All crap. You get it done or you don't so why does greco in particular give participation trophies? At any rate, congrats to Rau on becoming another Illinois olympian. Hopefully Ellis can get it done in Turkey and join the crew.1 point

the border is shit. why did biden sue to stop texas from doing his job? why did biden undo trump policies... and then reinstate many. the border 'security' bill ensures that we take in a certain number every year. i dont remember for certain the number... but it was higher than at any time in history.. even these last few years...1 point

In the last few years, a good number of IHL athletics departments have made/are making the jump from NAIA to D2. Anyone in the know care to share why this is taking place?1 point

I'll be watching to see who gets the job. Knowledge of SUNY system definitely a plus. When I was at UB they were a D3 school with no football team. Heck of a bowling squad though.1 point

Very confusing. The MFS finals presented alone and in a single series would be lights out. But instead they had all styles together, consolations matches in all styles thrown in, some finals matching with two in the AM and others with up to two in the PM. I’m one of the few people who wants to watch MFS but that presentation really tested my patience. It was mostly boring and confusing. No disrespect to WFS. (Greco is extremely boring to me though)1 point

Very interesting fusion of sexual abnormalcy controversies: gay men in positions of power sexually abusing children/adolescents and leftist sex/gender ideologues chemically and surgically altering children/adolescents with a mental disorder - gender dysphoria. Is TPT is excusing the second because of the improper reaction to the former?1 point
