Great crowd tonight in Sioux Falls. The event venue was full so likely around 3,000 people in attendance. 125- Back and forth match, Jordan gets a late takedown to take the match 5-3 over Tanefeu 133- dominant win by fall for Cardinal over Wertanen. Was going to be a tech and then finished off the fall. Wertanen did hit a nice headlock out of bounds. 141- Lemely with his first signature win over Carlson 6-4. Carlson got a lead and tried to hang on. He appeared to be pretty gassed out. He is just coming back from an extended injury so I expect him to get better as he gets his lungs back. 149- Gomez with a 10-4 win over Martin. Man, Gomez is quick. There were some good scrambles in this match. Gomez was on a roll and banged up his elbow and was more conservative after that. 157- Swenson 13-2 over Mattin. Swenson had some very crisp leg attacks and reattacks. He looked great in this match. 165- Mantanona 4-2 over Cook. Typical Tanner Cook match where he attempted a couple gator bacons, a lateral drop a crab ride roll through half over his own back. Cook was very close to scoring at the end of regulation for the win. 174- Griffith 4-1 OT over Devos. Neither guy opened up much in the first two periods. Devos was very close to scoring a single leg as time expired in regulation. Griffith took his first committed leg attack of the match in OT and finished it for the win. 184- Berge 12-5 over Bullock. Best Berge has wrestled in a Jacks singlet. Hoping this is a sign of things to come. He looked great. 197- Sloan tf over Yatooma. Slick duck by Sloan on the second takedown Yatooma outmatched here HWT- Davison tf Rasmussen. Davison too much for Luke Would have liked to see Michigan at full strength. You can only wrestle the guys they send out. Go Jacks!5 points

It’s always funny how the staff never gets any credit for Gable’s accomplishments. The relationship and trust built with Gable was crucial to his development. The growth he made from his true freshman season throughout his career is pretty impressive. Yes we all know Gable was a phenomenal recruit, but they certainly developed him. #9 recruiting class is redshirting and #3 recruiting class in coming in next year. A top recruit committed in class of 2025. Help is on the way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

I don't understand the Eggum hate. He delivers multiple AAs on an annual basis, graduates his student-athletes, has a strong donor base, and his team keeps their names out of the beat report. And as previously mentioned, he kept an Olympic champ and Hodge winner at home.4 points

Bucky, Here is the only backstory you need to know. In the "Creeps in the wrestling community" thread (elsewhere on this page), there is discussion about youth wrestling videographers, one or two in particular, who are perceived by many as shooting and thumbnailing their videos in an overly suggestive manner, attracting the attention of (if not outright catering to and/or profiting from) the prurient desires of a certain unsavory subset of the population, leading to otherwise unremarkable youth wrestling videos having millions of views. Some in the wrestling community have sounded the alarm -- hence the thread -- and pushed back. Various members of the wrestling media, including JB, have chimed in with more context. Several pages in, "commonsense2400" formed an account and started posting in defense of one or more of those whose works are at issue, and -- apparently believing "the best defense is a good offense" -- started taking aim at posters, accusing them of everything from defamation to aiding and abetting criminal acts. These included pot shots at JB which have now morphed into this new thread. That's your context. Judge for yourself. My opinion, FWIW, is EVERY post of "commonsense2400" should be regarded as bad faith intimidation tactics existing for the SOLE purpose of bullying into silence those who take issue with makers of the videos that have caused widespread serious concern in the wrestling community.4 points

This is the way. They say we humans have made up our views at an early age... I agree. My views have changed usually from someone doing as you have done. Where someone's information piques my interest... I research... and bring about my change. Some change comes from life experiences, like thoughts on education and religion after traveling multiple times to developing countries. Asking questions is another to pique interest. Why would a bridge be intentionally too low to allow a bus to travel past? What impact would that have on separating the poor from the affluent? Racist design in roadways was not something I knew either until reading ...The Power Broker.. blah... now I'm interested. So much better approach than 'you are privileged... what about poor people... you face-eating leopard supporter!'4 points

I don't think Kerk is going to lose to a guy who hasn't wrestled for 3-4 years. He looks to have jumped a level from last year, let alone to back when he was losing to Cass. But it will be really interesting how Nash looks, where is cardo is at and if he can make a run at NCAAs. His size and strength will certainly be challenge for most HWTs. His ceiling is probably 5-8th, which would be really big for Nebraska.4 points

I'm getting to be an old guy, as my kids like to remind me (hell, I could even be a LEHIGH fan! ); and so I've found over time you may catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. And I've also realized, I can probably never change anyone's mind about things, and so I don't try to. But if I can offer up a little information that I believe to be true, and it may contribute to somebody's understanding (and maybe not the person I'm speaking directly with, but rather someone else listening)- then I've done something good for the day.4 points

Wow, this discussion is still going on!? No, I did not actually expect you (or anyone) to go and read the entire book (it is pretty hefty; I use my copy now as a doorstop) but did offer it more as an example of what Buttigieg may have actually been alluding to - True, inanimate objects can't literally be "racist", but they can be shaped by racist policies, and they can have negative impact on specific ethnic groups, intentionally and otherwise. One of the most egregious I recall from the book - deliberately setting the clearance on bridges on some of the parkways so low that busses could not pass - thus preventing people from the inner city who did not own cars from traveling out to the Long Island beaches. Caro's work may also be of interest to some with a more conservative viewpoint - he devotes a considerable portion of his work to explaining how Moses, a bureaucratic official who never held any elected office, nevertheless amassed incredible power and influence - certainly a narrative that seems of great concern in some circles now. And I'm not arguing for any particular position on this, so much as pointing out that, with respect to planning and development policy, there has been some pretty extensive work done on the subject - and maybe more thorough and thoughtful than what you may find on a wrestling forum! Peace, all!4 points

No one reads a book like that 3 times, well unless they have dementia. You set off Bob's bs meter, he had to shut it down.3 points

@BobDole, on the basis of having probable cause to endanger children, I recommend that you identify the IP address of this poster (commonsense2400) and send it to the FBI. If you don't have the time to handle it, I would be willing to do so on your behalf.3 points

165 is insane. You have KOT (3, 1, 1, U23 gold); Carr (1, 3, 2, U20 gold); Amine (7, 4, 4); Hamiti (6, 6); Caliendo (7); Olejnik (8); and Hall (8). Plus a number of returning R12 and R16 guys. Then you throw Mesenbrink (U20 gold) into the mix. As of now, only KOT, Olejnik, and Mesenbrink are undefeated. NCAAs will be fun to watch.2 points

This year I decided not to look at the rankings every week. Instead, I have looked at the Intermat rankings 5 times so far. And there have been 5 different second place teams (based on expected points). In the pre-season it was all Cornell on 56.5 points. However... By the time the season started Michigan had rallied into the second spot on 56.5 points. That did not last long. After a tough CKLV Michigan faded... And NC State rallied to second on 61.8 points. NC State could not keep the momentum... But Missouri could, and they soon took over second on 68.8 points. Alas, Missouri met the same fate of all before them and fell While Nebraska rallied into second on 62.2 points where they stand now. Notably, Iowa has not risen higher than fifth and currently sits at seventh. If only there was a savior on the horizon. On the plus side for everyone not named PSU, the expected margin of victory has been steadily shrinking. In the pre-season PSU looked to be able to allow second and third to pool their points and still win. They had an expected margin of victory of 68.7 points at that time (131% greater than second place). As of January 3, mostly due to Shayne Van Ness' injury, that expected margin of victory is down to 44 points (a mere 71% higher than second). As a reminder, to arrive at expected points I look at prior results per seed to assign probabilities to various finishes and then sum points advancement and placement points across those finishes. Expected points does not include bonus points.2 points

Gotta think so. Maybe even the favorite in that match. Kerk is well under 285, Hutmacher is coming down from 330. I mean AJ is the favorite over Aaron Brooks right? Given AJ is coming down from 230 to 197 and Brooks is coming up from 184 to 197.2 points

I am wondering the same thing... Hidlay has been steamrolling guys. Looks like the clear #2 guy at this point. My top 5 would be Brooks, Hidlay, Buchanan, Sloan & Elam.2 points

JB has been around forever and does good work. He's not going anywhere anytime soon. You won't get anywhere with that bullshit here. Also you've no clue what goes on in the wrestling world if you think FLO tells JB what to do. Everyone in the wrestling world agrees on 1 thing we don't want pedophiles around.2 points

They avoided top competition so much that they went 4-1 at the All Star classic, with wins at 149, 174, 197 and 285 and a loss at 184. Beau Bartlett avoided it by beating Joey McKenna, Matt Kolodzik and Luke Pletcher, and losing to Andrew Alirez. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points
