I kind of feel like we have a mental health problem, a coping problem, a human decency problem, a respect problem, a glorification of weapons problem, an access to weapons problem, a refusal to acknowledge all and just focus on the one or two that fit our bill problem……. All of which contribute to what is going on.6 points

The humor is the unintentional absurdity and irony of someone warning against a behavior that is already happening. (e.g. weaponized DOJ)5 points

Well said . Thank you. Side note. Maybe the media should not broadcast 24/7 the horrific deadly crimes when they happen. Some if not most of these individuals actually want ( in a very sick evil way) this attention.3 points

TPD asked and I answered. When I was a practicing Christian, including time as a youth group leader, I was one of many religious folk who understood the majority of marriages occurred in church. In the 1900s, 85% of marriages occurred in church. It was 50% not so long ago (and it is under 25% now). When I was a child, most girls dreamed of a big church wedding regardless of whether they practiced religion. To me, marriage involved god and my religion did not accept same-sex marriage. During that religious period, I had numerous conversations with religious folk about supporting civil unions while being against updating the definition of marriage. Now, I am not religious and I support same sex marriage. I got over the definition update to use the word 'marriage.'3 points

Interesting analogy to a wrestling thing here. Thank you because it made me pause and think of its applicability. Of course we coach the kids that they have to work hard enough to beat the other kid and with enough margin to beat the ref also (or, to be less antagonistic, to overcome a bad or missed call). So, coming back to politics, how do you "win" by enough margin to beat the opponent AND beat the courts also when it is a fact that the referees are "homers" in the local areas run by the opponent? I.E. the other kids' step mom is the referee. Had Trump remained a Democrat and won would he have been impeached? Indicted in New York? Had a pee pee tape dossier released on him and FBI officials/agents ADMIT they lied to FISA courts about him? Had all of his historical business activities investigated? How about if he simply had kept saying "you're fired" on TV? Not a single fact about his business dealings has changed between 2015 and now. What could possibly have caused the deals to be scrutinized now and not when they actually happened . . . ? What happened? I can't think of a thing. WKN, do you think the referees are not betting (or dependent) on the outcome of the game they are refereeing?2 points

convict is a matter for the courts. it's not about convictions. it's about the process which is clearly corrupt. potential violations by people on the right get expedited; by people on the left go uninvestigated or uncharged. if people are guilty let the court rule. but the people on the left don't even get charged despite what appears to mountains of credible evidence. nothing on epstien is insane. nothing on hillary on a dozen fronts (including the fake dossier). nothing on hunter and DOJ clearly holding the process up.2 points

Even you can't believe that last paragraph. It is a doozy! Nobody cares in any meaningful way whether someone else has religious faith. The objections happen when that is imposed on other people.2 points

Yep, short guys are not good at wrestling... Everyone knows that height is a big advantage and the tallest guy at each weight usually wins. Hopefully Brooks can still AA despite this large disadvantage.2 points

The bulletin also states that CARD recently reported mental health issues, including "hearing voices and threats to shoot up the National Guard Base in Saco, ME." If he reported mental issues then why did he not lose access to guns? We have mental health issues in this country.2 points

Why doesn't the data point that this is done all the time at large BJJ tournaments count? It shows the logistics could work. And a few pilot tournaments will not change the attitude of wrestlers about cutting weight. I see this throughout this thread. Wrestlers are going to working out/not eating etc. because they all will be close to weight and need to constantly monitor their weight. I know would be a big change and I think it would take years for wrestling to change the basic practices that are part of out sport. To me it makes sense that off season tournaments start doing this, especially the big ones which will be required if we want to see change2 points

It got even better. It wasn’t just Gaetz, but Gaetz on Bannon’s show. And Gaetz acting upset with Bannon because he couldn’t reach him When he needed his advice. It was kinda funny actually. MAGA!!2 points

do i have to spell it out for you, dipshit? we had this whole convo in another thread. hillary did everything but murder people on camera....and nothing not one human has been charged in anything Epstein Island. do the math on that. how much more you want? it's not my fault you're a lefty douche that can't be honest with themselves.2 points

This is what I was hoping someone would say. Pilot it somewhere, but back to my initial statement, I've heard this bantered about for almost 30 years and at best, it's only been a message board topic. Why hasn't this been piloted? That's the next question.2 points

Given how insanely short he is, I have it on good authority that he uses a doggy door to get in and out of his house. Thus saving significant time throughout the course of the season by virtue of not having to open or close his door. This allows him the extra training time that's required in order for him to bridge the gap between himself and the "normal" wrestlers that are 6' and taller.2 points

We do a considerable amount of work in some rough Philly neighborhoods. I carry my Walther 9mm. I'm amazed that when I tell people they think it's cool. It's an unpleasant feeling thinking you might have to defend your own life just to go to work. And like Ohio Elite said the 9mm isn't going to do much good. Wouldn't want to get caught up in a gang shooting where they're spraying bullets everywhere1 point

Gotcha, thanks! Well here's the kicker. At this moment there is no right or wrong answer on whether pulling out of Afghanistan was the right thing to do. History will eventually tell that story. After the fall of the USSR I'm sure there were many people in the US intelligence community that thought that the region we helped win their resistance would be the last place an Arab Sunni from Saudi Arabia would build a network of terrorist to attack the US and was protected by former Mujahedeen.1 point

we SHOULD have pulled out. everyone agreed with that. it's the 'how'. to be honest, Biden get the blame b/c he forced an expedited withdraw, but the military leaders deserve most of it, imo. how many people have to green light so many asinine checkpoints for a disaster like that to happen?1 point

The supporting data is that dangerous and unhealthy weight cutting exists and should be mitigated. Matside weigh-ins would be a means to test a hypothesis and see if it has an effect on the data around weight cutting. Similarly, there was no data to back up 3 point takedowns, but there was evidence that there needs to be more scoring and action. So the rules were changed to allow a 3 point TD, and now we'll see if that moves the needle on the scoring data. I don't see why the sport can't pilot matside weigh-ins, be it for a season, a preseason tournament, or a month of duals, and see if it's a rule worth implementing fully? Either way, it would put the debate to rest.1 point

I also agree that KOT will be tested for sure. The 165 bracket will be full of land amines and carr bombs but... KOT is KOT, and I don't think he has a greater chance of NOT repeating than some of the others. I know that's all obvious, I mostly wanted an excuse to say Carr bomb and land Amine.1 point

Last question. Maybe you were just brought up to do the right thing because it's the right thing to do. Not so long ago ( 30 years ago) I was part of an organization (around 5000 people) that was all volunteer. We never once brought up politics. Everyone worked hard and worked toward a common goal. Did we agree on everything. No. But we understood the bigger picture. Its seems today for the most part that ship has sailed.1 point

Agreed...except the divide happens when the government uses a broad stroke in terms of who needs what and how much...i.e., some people and the current administration support those who are in need no matter WHY they are in need. I don't agree with that. Again, I am all for helping the community and my fellow man/person/human, but I'd prefer to have control over that help. I live by the saying, before you get help, you have to do something to help yourself first. And no I won't entertain the discussion of the one off extreme-emotional examples some of you are going to inevitably throw out there.1 point

The best way to prove it is to run some tournaments/duals with mat-side weigh-ins. There is no rule that you can't do that to show how great(or bad) matside weigh-ins are.1 point
