  2. Well I had just left a pool party when I replied to this....I got up today and I am like crap, that is a bold statement...I know Jordan, but I have not talked to him in awhile. I will have the boy ask him to see what is what.....problem is, he may THINK he knows what he WANTS to do, and that might be totally opposite of what Ol John boy wants him to do.

  3. Jimmy (pronouns pinfall/loan default) suffers grievously from fan dysphoria because he identifies as a PSU fan while having an Iowa chromosome. Most of us cannot imagine what it is like for orange supremacists to pressure Jimmy to conform when all he really wants is to have fun. He is one stunningly brave bun. This is an affirmative action issue. The Supreme Court willing, it is high time that we have a trans-fan moderator head up a forum. Only through acceptance and tolerance can we hope to grow the sport.

  10. Jimmy has more thread count success and is better known among young kids still living at home. He also posts for a higher profile program we just don't really know if its Iowa or Penn St. MPhillips obviously has the college and international posting success but less thread origination count. He's also closer to retirement as a poster. Has MP ever mentioned a desire to moderate? We know JC would like to be Iowa's/Penn St's next big thing on the forum. If Bob&Du hang it up, who you got? 11. Who is cutting the big weight? Their guys are smaller than average and tons of them have moved up in weight class. From last year's postseason roster... Wittcraft was big. He dropped a weight to fill the roster. Fix is average size. Young is very small. Voinovich definitely wasn't big. Gfellar was up multiple weights over his career and was a small 157. Sheets was up a weight last year and wasn't big at 165. Plott was average sized. Wittlake jumped two weights and was tiny at 184. Surber was a full sized 197. Doucet wasn't cutting like most heavyweights. I see one guy who cut significant weight and a bunch of guys who were small for their weight. What am I missing that you see?

  14. i say, the reason they didn't add the need to turn was that it only happened in 7% of the riding time matches...

  16. I agree, it was a number salad without any clear insights or takeaways. It looked like the data was awkwardly jammed randomly into the article just for the sake of having some stats in there. Looking at the paragraph, my own read is: A riding time point was scored in about half the matches at Nationals = RT is scored frequently enough... Of those matches with RT, the added point was a determining factor in fewer than 1 in 10 (7%) of them = ... but RT usually doesn't make a difference either way in who wins a match... Of those 7% of matches where RT was a factor, the bottom man didn't get turned = ... and when RT matters, the top wrestler just sat on top and won (or sent the match into OT) I think the author was trying to say, in a very convoluted way, that a turning point rule would complicate the rules while only affecting a very small # of matches? But that reasoning is flawed, because with a turning point rule, RT could have been a determining factor in more than 7% of the matches (the data doesn't indicate either way) AND a subset of those matches (again, the data doesn't indicate what proportion) where RT mattered would have gone into OT, so longer matches.

  19. There is a de facto bankruptcy in student loans in that after 20 years of IBR payments, the loans are forgiven regardless of the remaining balance. Paying through IBR (now at 5% of disposable income), nobody should be driven to bankruptcy with federal student loans. Student loan forgiveness is already built into the system through this channel. The entire reason these loans are government-guaranteed is to enable people with limited financial means to have access to the funds needed to receive an education. You don't want to take that away-it is really the one guaranteed way for class mobility in this country. The problem, as you point out, are predatory for profit universities that encourage people to take out loans for degrees that won't actually result in a job.

  21. Character "flaw" or character "weakness" - tomato, tomahto. I do agree managing an economy, defense, and foreign policy is very important. And we had the Republic majority Senate there doing those very things... while Trump golfed, got his hair done, had his face sprayed orange, organized re-election rallies, and watched morning TV news programs while sending angry Tweets. He did sign everything the Rep's sent his way, even if he didn't remotely understand most of it. Because he didn't bother to read any of the executive reports that were sent to the desk of the President. But if that's what some want in the leader of the free world - then he is their guy. Me? I'd vote for a Republican over Biden. But he'd have to be an actual leader, not just an orange turd pretender,

  30. Earl Smith- 5) Ohio State Recruits: #3 Rocco Welsh (Waynesburg, PA - 174 lbs), #22 Ryder Rogotzke (Stillwater, MN - 184/197 lbs), #33 Vincent Kilkeary (Greater Latrobe, PA - 125/133 lbs), #35 Brandon Cannon (Ponderosa, CO - 157 lbs), #53 Brock Herman (Brecksville, OH - 141/149 lbs) Immediate Impact: Ohio State head coach Tom Ryan has never been shy about starting true freshmen and this class could be no different. Based on lineup decisions and the effectiveness of untested upperclassmen, we could see Rocco Welsh and/or Vincent Kilkeary in the Buckeye lineup immediately. Andre Gonzales was thrust into the Ohio State lineup due to a late-season injury at 125 lbs. Should he or some of the other incumbents stumble, the three-time Pennsylvania state champion, Kilkeary, could be called upon. All-American Ethan Smith has moved on as well, so Welsh could see action right away at 174 lbs. Welsh was a four-time Pennsylvania finalist and two-time champion. If the Buckeyes don’t bump at one (or more) of the middleweights, 174 could belong to Welsh. Recruiting Strategy: Ohio State is typically one of the schools that opt to shoot for the top blue-chip recruits rather than have classes with seven or eight wrestlers on the back end of the Big Board. That has proven to be the case again in 2023, with the two Pennsylvania champions and two-time Super 32 winner Ryder Rogotzke. This strategy can lead to minimal depth at some weights and a few uncharacteristic dual losses, but has plenty of big tournament potential. Overall: This group, along with the #1 ranked class in 2022, should help propel the Buckeyes back into consistent national team title contention. The Ohio State staff didn’t have to go very far to see this class in action as three of its wrestlers finished in the top three at the Walsh Ironman last December. Welsh won the tournament, while Brandon Cannon was a finalist and Brock Herman was third. Cannon is perhaps the best story from the 2023 class. He was a top wrestler in this class as a freshman, but had a tumor found on his back, then fought back to become the #35 overall wrestler in the Class of 2023. Past Classes: 2022: #1 2021: #9 https://rokfin.com/article/13661/InterMats-2023-Recruiting-Class-Rankings-Part-Two-112

  31. Please spare me your PSU kool aid. If anyone knows that Mizzou is perfectly capable of developing world level talent, it’s Coach Mesenbrink. Where he may or may not choose to train post college is not the issue. PSU’s fan base has been collectively annoying, but now that they’ve bought themselves a historic team, I can see it’s gonna become absolutely insufferable.

  32. I think we need to distinguish the two eras. Assembling and developing a team is different than being able to fill in the holes in free agency. Down the road college sports will refer to eras as Pre and Post NIL/Portal when it comes to dynasties.
