I legit thought I got a warning for photos I posted guys. I was initially worried that those pictures I meant to send to my wife got leaked. Then I saw this thread. I am perplexed as to how conflicted I feel that that was not the case now. It's weird.3 points

Well results would prove that Gable can do no better than Olympic Gold under Eggum and Brandsvold.2 points

There is a lot of revisionist history about Brands and Assad as recruits. Brands was barely a top 100 recruit. If his name wasn't Brands, he wouldn't have gotten the publicity he got as a recruit. He has far exceeded expectations. Assad ended up in the 20-30 range. He was ranked in the 80's for most of his career, but went on an absolute heater at cadet trials after his junior year and shot up to #1 in the country at his weight. He then went on to lose several times his senior year, including to a completely unranked guy. When you took in his whole body of work, he was a Max Murin tier recruit. He's really struggled with injuries at Iowa. He's had flashes of AA level production, but has never been that consistently.2 points

I do not know him personally and do not generally pull for wrestlers from Iowa schools, but I will feel pretty good for him if he wins NCAA's this year. A lot of fun to watch with his pace and toughness. Hope he stays healthy.1 point

Brooks and Hidlay cleared out. He will open the season as the favorite in what looks to be one of the weakest weight classes next year (along with 125).1 point

They’ve not done as well, obviously. We’re talking about Gable though, aren’t we? I actually think Eggum and co. Have proven to be pretty good at development. Getting an AA out of Jake Bergeland, who wasn’t ranked in the top 150 in his class as a recruit, turning similarly unranked recruits like Bailee O’Reilly, Garrett Joles, Jake Gliva and Cael Carlson into respectable big ten wrestlers, etc. There haven’t been a ton of highly ranked guys that have come here and flopped since Eggum really took over. It’s the recruiting/retaining department they’ve sucked at. We know this, but it’s not the topic of discussion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I agree with this statement... but it's still fun to call him fat, even if he has the speed of Vito.1 point

I hope AJ gets on the Iowa roster, then Gable gets on it too. I want to read the reports of how badly Gable is kicking AJ's rear end all around that room for months just to put some humility into that guy.1 point

Turkey is better smoked than deep fried. Ham I like to sparsely stick cloves in. I’ve watched people nibble on it for half an hour, they can’t stop reaching for it. I smoke both for about 8-10 hours. Smoke all the way, no wrap. Chicken quarters about 4 hours. Check the temp. Like turkey - better than fried. The slow cooking seems to render the fat better than fast cooking. I started out with cheapy uprights with a water pan. Wore out about three of them. I learned that cutting a whole onion in half and dropping it in the water pan added a subtle but favorable flavor to brisket. A neighbor moved away about 12 years ago and told me he wasn’t going to take the one he had with him, he never used it while he lived there, if I wanted it, come get it. I went to look at it and was amazed, overwhelmed. Theres an offset traeger at Ace for $529. This one is about the same size. The one cubic foot firebox is 1/4” thick steel. The cooking chamber is 13” x 24” probably 5/16” thick, 2” pipe legs and heavy 6” cast iron wheels, 3 1/2” smokestack. It is very heavy. It was made by Log Cabin Smokers, I’m sure now defunct, out of Chouteau, (pronounced show-toe)OK. The amount of welding on it is impressive. I was lucky that day. Once I learned how to control the fire I have been able to cook some amazing tasting food. My wife too, nudges me into cooking mostly brisket from time to time. I’ll be cooking another one very soon.1 point

If by "stupid political agenda" you mean getting guns out of the hands of mentally unstable people, sure, sign me up for that one. "You just can't make this stuff up." I've never heard that before. Is that something you came up with all by yourself? I only wish I were that creative. Alas, I'm limited to only regurgitating things other people come up with. To wit: “Lack of originality, everywhere, all over the world, from time immemorial, has always been considered the foremost quality and the recommendation of the active, efficient and practical man.” ― Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Idiot1 point

We need help? You are the one clearly running around with your panties in a twist - letting your emotions fuel very stoopid takes... like... all the time. My 12 year old Granddaughter is 95% more emotionally stable than you 85% of the time. It's equal parts embarrassing and cringe. Nobody has even said the kids don't deserve to get paid. In fact the post you are replying to from WKN has zero opinion in it. He is telling you what was (is) factual.1 point

What does that have to do with the facts of NIL and backdoor agreements? Starting threads and knowing more than two shits about the topic do not go hand in hand.1 point
-
When NIL was passed there was a privision that the athlete could not be paid above the going rate for the service (though I do not recall the exact wording). For example, the local car dealership couldn't pay $100k for doing a commercial if they normally paid (see what I did there @BlacknGold) $5k. I have no idea how the NCAA could even determine a norm for an athlete vs. a bit part, commercial actor, so it always seemed unenforceable to me. But it felt to me that this was their attempt to provide themselves some future enforcement muscle if the pendulum of power ever swung back their way, as unlikely as that is to happen.1 point

That isn't him. By definition, he is correct. You are ignorant to the processes and politix of it all. I wouldn't take that as an insult. What it actually means is that you simply just do not factually know. 95%+ of the gents here are also ignorant on the subject.1 point

This reminds me of a story I heard. A man was on the west coast walking on the beach and was talking with God. God told him he could have a wish. He really loved Hawaii and thought it would be really nice to build a bridge to Hawaii. So that is what he wished for. God said that was an impossible wish and to ask for something else. The man thought about it for a moment and said he would like to know how women think. In response, God asks, How many lanes do you want? mspart1 point

What are these papers you speak of that have news on them? Are they some type of new invention these quick witted Gen Z folks came up with. We used to only get out news via social media and streaming TV. Oh it would be glorious to have a new media format. What will this young generation think of next.1 point

Generalizing "people on the left", which is roughly half the population of the US as those that somehow "love to poo-poo" anything is pretty silly. (I'm being kind.) So... soo.. soooo.. many different opinions in that group of 165 million - incredibly different perspectives and opinions. The same goes for the "people on the right." They are not all the same, not even close. Oversimplifying politics, even with the help of some dopey news clowns whos' only goals are to get attention, isn't in anyone's best interest. This is the kind of junk that just dumbs down any potential real conversation. It is what the prevailing political winds have consisted of for a number of years now, but it's not like we can't tell the difference. Both parties. We should know better. Yes - yes - you are absolutely right - China is a cutthroat bully. Anybody that pays attention has known that for a long time. (Yes, the left, too.) Russia is also a cutthroat bully, although it seems Trump isn't in that camp yet (he called out Putin as being a genius for what he's doing in Ukraine and hasn't backed down from it yet.) Considering that he is a presidential candidate and that is his position, that is newsworthy and something worth considering. Why a solar farm in Angola? I don't know. But - who knows - maybe if we learn the facts, we may find out it is a good idea? Or maybe not. It may be an absolutely terrible idea. It is also newsworthy. But we're going to need facts here in order to have an intelligent conversation (rather than oversimplified, unfounded hysteria.) Oh - and the railroad from the Pacific across the Indian Ocean? I don't have any idea what he was saying - it was out of left field. My guess is he's an old guy who doesn't speak well to begin with and reminds me of Grandpa Simpson more often than I'd like. Just my opinion, but I think old guys like Biden and Trump need to be replaced with some sharper tacks. Just not replaced with mean-spirited turds who want to use anger and hate as tools to get elected - we don't need any of those folks in any type of office. From either party. There is no such thing as an angry, hateful, good leader.1 point

No… it’s not. I am a wrestling media guy (a silly little page called The Pin Doctors) and am probably the least social “wrestling media guy” out of any of them and am becoming more that way as time goes by. I don’t ever know the “gossip” stuff from any room, let alone that one… I don’t discuss any other wrestler with my brother other than just him. I don’t even bother to ask him when I discuss wrestling with him because 1.) It puts him in a terrible position (something I learned the hard way during a 2022 situation that’s been beaten to death already) and 2.) I genuinely don’t care. To anyone who has ever followed my page or my stuff dating back to The Predicament, I doubt you’d find many who would say my “M-O” is the wrestling news/gossip stuff. I’m just not into it and it never even occurs to me to ever ask my brother what “so and so” is weighing, who won in Madden between “so and so” and “so and so,” etc. I just really don’t care. I can go to a meet expecting to see world-beaters and would still able to enjoy my time if a bunch of 4th stringers competed. And I’m not stupid. I get it. I understand why people would think it’s me and I can probably list 3-4 reasons as to what would make ppl think that, starting with which groups I share my own Facebook PinDox posts in sometimes…not to mention my big, stupid mouth in a strenuous situation of the 2021-22 season. It looks bad…. I get that. I wasn’t THAT social with other wrestling media to begin with and have taken yet another few steps back from all that since this past fall when I noticed some people assuming certain info was leaked by me. It’s not… and it certainly won’t ever be in the future because now not only do I genuinely not care about the gossip, but I go out of my way to not ever know any of it so it’s damn clear to my own family that it’s not me… which is really the only people I care about in terms of what their opinions are on me and my wrestling mouth. Funny thing is, 75% of the gossip “leaks” that I’ve read ppl blaming me for is stuff that I STILL don’t know to this day because I care THAT little about wrestling gossip stuff to where I don’t even have the motivation to look up what supposedly came from me. People pm me asking me to break news about multiple programs on a daily basis and I rarely even respond to these messages. Because that’s not my bag because I don’t care about it at all. Things are just gonna unwind as they do and I’m fine with that. Sidenote: After some of the mentioned drama from 2021-22, I quit drinking to ensure I never publicly got pissed and went off the handle running my mouth again like I did after the Iowa-Minnesota meet last year. I was hammered that night. And was mortified afterwards. I’ve only been hammered one time since that I can recall and I can’t even frigging believe that, for I used to binge-drink most weekends and every day in my 20’s. Never thought I’d see the day where I didn’t have to worry about the rambunctiousness of “Drunk Swaff.” That was a terrible situation for us, but at least THAT came from it… I needed to stop all that as it was.1 point
