  16. It is a huge pet peeve of mine when guys try to keep it to a respectable lose instead of taking a chance for a victory. This article uses hockey as an example, but it can be applied to a lot of things: https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/Pulling-the-Goalie:-Hockey-and-Investment-Asness-Brown/75cea024e4ca60e703a18e1a019203530f0b0033

  17. How was the match going before the fall? Glad to see him turning it on at the right time. Hart was up 4-2 & riding tough in the third. He had 2-3 minutes RT and had been trying to hookup a cradle. Got it hooked up and the party was over. Agreed with Idaho, looked good. More physical than last year, so maybe a good final.

  18. The action call near the end of the Dean match is a perfect example of why they need the pushout rule. The ref had called Dean for stalling about 10 seconds before so he wouldn't make the second call that quickly even though it was clearly not an action situation. In other words he would have called stalling on Dean for just bailing out of bounds if he hadn't called stalling 10 seconds before. But he didn't because ... college ref. It's indefensible. They need the push out. Even the most ossified sporting organization anywhere, MLB, has made some rule changes.

  20. Between everything going oob being action and nothing on top being stalling, the product has really become hard to watch sometimes.

  21. Keeps it too close. I don’t have a ton of faith in Mannings guys at Nattys. Seems like historically they have underachieved. Robb just has the look of someone who will go down in the quarters.

  30. You must be fun to watch any sport with. "Just sit there quietly and don't comment on anything. Only high level athletes can comment on anything that's happening!"

  31. Not speaking with a tremendous amount of certainty but I believe all weights where there are more than 8 spots available there is a "9th place" tournament which is reseeded among the 6 guys that are not in the top 8. This should happen for Burwick, Morton and Emerson. It is not a part of the team scoring. I also believe the typically have one of these when only 8 spots are allocated as well. I think that one potential criteria for getting a wild card is finishing one place below the automatic allocation. Wilson could be involved in such a scenario if he loses in this next session.

  34. LOL on the broadcast they appear to be showing just happened replays and announcing over them. So with 20+ seconds left in the Romero match as they called the taped action on the screen you could hear the PA guy congratulating Romero on the final score. Whoops.

  36. This ended up being fake news. Gallagher had nothing for him. It was impressive, really. 8-0 Major for Siebrecht w/ well over two minutes of riding time. An obvious huge skill disparity.

  38. Just a note to say that with Byrd's pin, that has to put the ILLINI in first place. Or close. Also, Patrick McKee's haircut is so awful he must have instructed his hairdresser to analyze each follicle to determine the exact length it needed to be to be the most unpleasant. Since that could take a year or more to do, I suspect a computer program, perhaps AI-assisted, must have been employed. When you eliminate the impossible, what is left, no matter how improbable, must be the solution. GO ILLINI!!!

  39. Got over 1 minute of RT before Bergeland got the escape. 4-3 after the 2nd. Hamdan should choose neutral to start the 3rd. He doesn't. Low match IQ. RT was 1:01.

  43. I think they will cancel the tournament and then cancel NCAAs because there is no time to reschedule everything. Give everyone in the top 30 AA status and give next year's freshmen an extra year of eligibility. But in all seriousness, aren't there warmer places in Big 10 country to host the tournament?

  44. Even if they get (keep) the power on, will referees, medical personnel, broadcasters, etc. be able to get to the arena (as well as wrestlers in nearby hotels?).
