Trolling or not, I think these predictions are close. FWIW, I have it 18-15 the other way (I think Kerk beats Cass).4 points

Ohio State absolutely blasted the MD Terps, 38-6. Several ranked starters from both teams out of the lineup, including Heinselman, Ethan Smith, North, and Jaxon Smith. 149: No. 2 Sammy Sasso major dec. (12-1) No. 20 Ethen Miller (Ohio State 4, Maryland 0) Sasso dominated Miller from start to finish, and may have scored the fall if he had about 10 more seconds on the clock at the end of the match. 157: No. 19 Paddy Gallagher TF (22-5) Kevin Schork (Ohio State 9, Maryland 0) Gallagher looked like he was drilling against North's backup. 165: No. 8 Carson Kharchla dec. (7-2) John Martin Best (Ohio State 12, Maryland 0) Kharchla did not look sharp against a sub-.500 opponent, but he was never in any danger. 174: Issac Wilcox SV dec. (3-1) No. 33 Dominic Solis (Ohio State 15, Maryland 0) Low score, but lots of action. Solis took it to OT after a critical challenge and reversal, but it wasn't enough. 184: No. 4 Kaleb Romero TF (22-7) Chase Mielnik (Ohio State 20, Maryland 0) Romero toyed with Mielnik. 197: No. 18 Gavin Hoffman wins by forfeit (Ohio State 26, Maryland 0) No Jaxon Smith; not sure why MD didn't send out a backup. HWT: No. 14 Tate Orndorff dec. (3-1) No. 25 Jaron Smith (Ohio State 29, Maryland 0) Close match, but Orndorff had just enough to score a 3rd period TD. 125: No. 12 Braxton Brown fall (1:55) Brendan McCrone (Ohio State 29, Maryland 6) Brown was headed to a tech but scored a fall on his second cradle attempt. 133: No. 9 Jesse Mendez fall (2:30) Conner Quinn 2:30 (Ohio State 35, Maryland 6) Quinn has had a rough season. It didn't get any better tonight. 141: No. 15 Dylan D'Emilio dec. (6-3) No. 33 Kal Miller (Ohio State 38, Maryland 6) D'Emilio was never in any type of danger and was in control the entire match. The Terps have made progress, but the reality of the Big 10 came crashing in on them tonight. Upside: Standing room only in The Pavilion. Nice to see the support.3 points

Both teams dominated top 5 opponents last night but I came away thinking Iowa is definitely favored in a dual due to matchups 125: Lee by FALL within the first period. He's been pinning everyone lately and Steen has no shot. 6-0 Iowa 133: RBY DEC Teske. RBY has been content to win by decision so far and Teske is no slouch. 6-3 Iowa 141: Woods DEC Barlett. Woods is going to win it all this year. Just too fast and explosive. 9-3 Iowa 149: Murin DEC SVN. Murin has been on a tear lately and SVN has shown he's a little too straight on from neutral. 12-3 Iowa 157: Haines DEC Siebrecht. Bit of a tossup but Haines just beat the #16 and #10 wrestlers. 12-6 Iowa 165: Kennedy DEC Facundo. Kennedy is just better right now. 15-6 Iowa 174: Starocci DEC Brands. Brands will keep it close to save the bonus point. 15-9 Iowa 184: Brooks DEC Assad. See 174. 15-12 Iowa 197: Dean DEC Warner. Close battle, Warner hasn't look great lately. 15-15 tie HWT: Cass DEC Kerk. Kerk has a hand injury and a bad gas tank lately. Cass gets the win. 18-15 IOWA WINS2 points

He was a talented and accomplished schoolboy wrestler from PA and is a valauble asset in the PSU room probably best suited to develop being Howard for another year or two. Getting thrown to the B1G wolves now cannot be easy. I do not want to rush to any conclusions as to how he might develop. Some accomplished high school wrestlers get to a high level sooner and some later and of course some do not find whatever it takes to make it at the next level. Maybe he finds a way. It cannot be easy on him to be the one guy on the roster that the whole arena considers a success if he does not give up 6. I do not think it is a lack of character or commitment. Kid probably wants it as much as anyone. I feel a little bad for him watching him struggle. I think it is a noble struggle to keep trying in the face of tough odds in a sport where you are all alone and everyone is watching. So I wish him well and tip my hat that he is out there battling!2 points

I promise, you guys don't have to treat the Pastry as a serious person. He's a Penn State fan trying to reverse jinx things, while also portraying a person pretending to be a Penn State fan. It's a very layered troll job, so I respect that. 125: Lee FALL Steen 133: Bravo Young MDEC Teske/Schriever 141: Woods DEC Bartlett 149: Murin DEC Van Ness 157: Haines DEC Siebrecht 165: Kennedy DEC Facundo 174: Starocci DEC Brands 184: Brooks DEC Assad 197: Dean DEC Warner HW: Cassioppi DEC Kerkvleit owa wins 18-16. Obviously could see flips at 149-165 and HW. Less likely but possible flips at 141 and 197. Lots of moving parts. Penn State could also get bonus at 184 and, potentially, 197. depending on how flat Warner is. Iowa doesn't really have a path to more bonus that Lee other than if he were to put Kerk feet to back, which I doubt.2 points

This line-up is like that certain place in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony when we feel that we are floating above the earth in a starry dome, with the dream of immortality in our hearts; all the stars seem to glimmer around us, and then we wake up in Stillwater -- Nietzsche2 points

In a just world, Jimmy Cinnaclown would not be permitted to comment on this thread, especially after his prediction regarding the four weights highlighted in the post: 141: Mattin dec Bartlett 9-3 149: Lamer dec Van Ness 12-3 157: Lewan dec Haines 15-3 165: Amine dec Facundo 18-3 Cinnaclown used diversion and distraction when replying to accurate criticism and condemnation of his inaccurate predictions and statements. Cinnaclown cries out in pain as he strikes you. Cinnaclown belongs in a Cinnacircus, and although from my perch in Taiwan I see the US disintegrating into a bizarre circus in so many ways, wrestling has retained its teflon coating for the most part, remaining a part of the traditional, admirable part of our culture. Cinnaclown would have it become part of the bizarre circus. Don't play circus games with the clown.2 points

I don't get this board sometimes. Everyone wants people to make predictions. Then they like to shit on the person because of the prediction/fandom if it turns out wrong. Which causes fewer predictions. Non-virtuous circle.2 points

So let's just settle for crappy wrestling? I like RBY. I'm not trying to hate on him just for the sake of hating. I think he can, and should, be taking down Ragusin multiple times. This is the time of year where PSU historically looks like they're training through so perhaps I should give the boys in blue some more slack2 points

He looks a little quicker in neutral and a little stronger on top. Last year he was undersized and lost a ton of close matches. There is a little something to be said about the weight clearing out and he hasn't faced the better 141's yet, but he looks better to me. I'm sure Real Woods will beat him but that won't change anything as I don't think he is a #1 guy, just that he is better at 141 than he was at 149.1 point
-
That's definitely a pin or a fall, take your pick, no "pinfall." As said, there's no "danger" as its not a neutral position but NW wrestler was flat as could be, its a pin.1 point

Much like Nebraska in the Iowa dual, if absolutely everything breaks their way Michigan can win this dual. For Iowa or Penn State, they will need to lose 3 or 4 "swing" matches that they are favored in. In a vacuum, Bartlett losing to Mattin, Van Ness losing to Lamer, Haines losing to Lewan, Facundo losing to Amine, Kerk losing to Parris are not overly surprising results. However, all of those losses occurring in the same dual seems very unlikely.1 point

Please enlighten me! Cael thought he was good to go, so he took the mat. What makes you think you know more than Cael? How about Parris' story? He still made AA! It isn't the PSU wrestlers that usually draw my ire, it is fans such as yourself, who think wrestling was invented c. 2010.1 point

How do you figure NJ wrestling is on the decline? Just last season CJ composto AAed as a true freshman after placing in NJ states once (3rd) , last season was the first true down year in terms of AAs but doesn’t mean the state is on the decline1 point
-
Princeton is ranked as one of the top Universities in the World...Pretty simple if you can get accepted you probably go there. NJ Wrestling has been on a slight decline lately and being a state place winner is not as big of a deal as it was 5/10 years ago...Your son wanted nothing to do with B1G Rutgers and I would bet that was mutual and Rutgers had no interest in him...Let me guess, He's at a D3 Program right now1 point

I don't get the feeling it's more pronounced, they were just really helped by having 1 or 2 studs like Ashnault, Suriano and Rivera. And Ashnault was the only one that went there as a freshman. Soldano could have the opportunity to become that. Top NJ guys will often choose other schools, in part because a lot of kids just want to get out of state in general, but I'm sure some also want the top programs. Rutgers has for awhile gotten the "second tier" NJ recruits, which are still very good. And they've started getting some more from out of state. They probably shouldn't be losing to Indiana though. And I like Goodale but I can't really think of anyone that seems to have improved a ton since getting there.1 point

I'm a Mizzou fan, but give credit where credit is due. Virginia Tech has been a tough dual for the Tigers and have won the last 3 outings. All have been nail biters. Your only as tough as the company you keep and I'd rather take a close lost that prepares you for post season, than easy W's that measure nothing and are not as intriguing to follow. Building a deep roster, developing talent, and staying healthy are all part of the equation of W's and L's. I'm most proud of the fact that 5 of the 10 wrestlers in the lineup were products of Missouri high schools and chose the "Tiger Style" culture. Brian Smith is as concerned about building "good men" as he is building "good wrestlers!" If he continues to keep most the best "Show Me" wrestlers at home, we will be ok.1 point
