And yet, Blaze still has as many or more quality wins while being considerably more dominant. Maybe Byrd should wrestle a little harder?

2 different styles. But yes Byrd does have several matches that are closer than they should be considering the OPP

Full of un-bias blasphemy.

So does multiple time world champion Kyle Dake. Last I checked all that matters is who gets their hand raised after the match.

A torn meniscus can be surgically repaired in one of two ways - the meniscus can be sewn back together or cleaned up and removed if not enough meniscus is left after the injury. It takes much longer to return if the meniscus is reattached. I had ACL surgery recently and had a torn medial meniscus and that is how the sports surgeon explained it to me as far as the meniscus goes.

Did this 3x in my HS career; got the left removed in early/mid January and was back wrestling in early February (not 100% but good enough).  Got the right repaired in an offseason and was in some level of recovery/rehab for a couple months.  Lastly got the right removed when the repair didn't take and was walking around without crutches the next day (they were able to go right in the same holes they did for the repair so no "new" damage)

I had my left one done senior year in highschool and it’s never been the same. I refuse to curtail hikes and other things I enjoy doing so some stiffness, swelling and pain is just part of life.

I'm sure at some point it'll catch up to me but 20 years later I'm still on a mat once a week, play beer league softball etc.  There will be a day or two here and there over winter where they make me more cognizant of them and I put in a rest day or modify a workout but until I really can't do it anymore . . . I'm gonna keep doing it.

Good for you Scott, keep it going. Where the mind goes the body follows, at least that’s what I keep telling myself!

The article on Rokfin is in reference to his seeding prior to his knowledge of the new formula needed and prior to yesterday’s show.

Not sure, but it should be. Are there any seeding criteria that favor Byrd?

Just that he’s undefeated.. another thread from a week or 2 ago went on forever about this.
Most posters don’t seem to care Blaze and Davino have better resumes this season, the popular opinion seems that Byrd deserves the top seed for some of the following reasons -bc he was ncaa champ last year (not part of the seeding criteria), he’s a likable guy, he has a tall girlfriend, penn state didn’t go to national duals and a bunch of other things that have nothing to do with this current seasons results.

Byrds path to the 1 seed is Davino beating Blaze but losing to Ayala

Byrd best win is Ayala , Davino and Blaze also both beat Ayala. Davino had the biggest margin of victory 10-4.

Byrd next best win is 14-8 Dylan Shawver who will be a double digit seed at big tens. Byrd beat him 3-1 ,Blaze beat Shawver 12-2, Davino hasn’t faced him.

Byrd next best win on the season is 3-0 against Rider Will Benecourt. His wins over Campbell, Kade Moore and Unger don’t mean anything now bc they are out for the year with injuries or just the 2nd string.

Davino has wins over Ayala, Fuggit , Evan Frost, Van Dee, Tyler Ferrara, Zach Redding and still wrestles Ayala tonight and Blaze next week.

Blaze has wins over Van Dee, Ayala , Tyler Knox, Berginc , Brown, Shawver, and still wrestles Davino.

Undefeated Davino or Blaze is the 1 seed at Big Tens. Its not Byrds fault he hasn’t ducked anyone but he doesn’t make the big ten schedule and that’s just how the chips fell this season.

Glad to hear you are doing well. The younger one is when they get the ACL and or meniscus surgery, the quicker one can recover and be back competing. It also depends on what ACL replacement piece one uses - I went with part of my hamstring which has a better longevity success rate than a cadaver but the recovery period is longer due to 2 surgeries being done - the cadaver gets one back into competition sooner. 11 months later and I feel like I’m ready to go 100% but there are days when I push hard in the weight room or running and cutting and my knee gets stiff and not as flexible as I would like - but was told that could be expected for 18-24 months post surgery since I’m in almost 53. Main point get surgery asap after the injury. I waited 30 years after I tore my ACL wrestling in college but was told at the time in 1995 it was a partial tear so no surgery. Wrestled for 2 1/2 in college with a fully torn ACL. Crazy. My torn ACL attached to my PCL to give me some stability over the last 30 years so never knew it was a complete tear until I tweaked my knee one day and the surgeon looked at the MRI and said your ACL was torn a very long time ago. Yep. 30 years….

I do also have a partially torn ACL that I just kinda deal with haha I figure being bone on bone in both knees I'll need them replaced at some point and we'll address the ACL then

I know no one wants to hear this but honestly… will anyone else be more shocked if Bouzakis wrestles next week vs he does?

If Cannon were healthy, I would have put the probability of Bouzakis wrestling against Penn State at 100%.

Without Cannon, it’s basically a mathematical certainty Ohio State cannot beat Penn State next week.

So help me make sense as to why Bouzakis goes next week wit the dual not counting for anything, even competitively now?

Now in addition to that, Bouzakis was visibly hurting grabbing his lower back at the end of tonight’s match. Using injury and rest as a reason now makes a ton of sense. The fact Ohio State has a viable backup in Kilkeary whose from P.A would be a nice spot start for the Latrobe kid.

And most importantly..Bouzakis heads to the Big Tens having yet to face Lihledahll. That in itself make Bouzakis going next week just a dumb decision at this point. If I’m a top guy, if I had the choice, or was given the realistic option to manipulate my opponents, I want to wrestle a top Penn State kid fi the first time at Big Tens.

There is no better program whose wrestlers are coached better then Casey Cunningham when it comes to scouting, breaking down film, and preparing his kids for rematches against top opponents. He has a knack for being able to identify tendencies and exploit opponent’s weaknesses the 2nd and 3rd time around in the same season when matched up multiple times.

It's a logical take if you firmly believe:  1) It's a certainty that tOSU will lose, and 2) the difference in seeding from #1 or #2 won't make any difference.

The dual is clearly less important than Big Tens, as Big Tens will greatly impact selection and seeding for NCAAs.  I expect we will not see Cannon for the dual, but see him at Big Tens.  Imagine Kilkeary loses and Davino, Mendez, Kharchla, Fisback, and Feldman win.  Gulp, oh what could have been.

Dispassionate Penn State grad and fan.

That is one way to look at it and another would be a healthy wrestler doesn’t pass an opportunity to wrestle the #1 guy while worrying about rematch scouting issues. That said, if he is banged up enough and not close to being 100% then it makes sense to sit. If he is close to 100% he wrestles. IMO.

Why do you assume Kilkeary gets the nod?

McCrone not only has a victory over Bouzakis this season, but pinned Lilledahl last season.

I get to go watch Big Tens for the first time in my life. Obvious bucket list @Winners Circle, I will be with our boy on this trip. This is going to be a blast.

Love it. Tell Scotty I say what's up. Excited to see Zan put it on the line. He shines brightest when the lights are on.

I'm as big a PSU fan as there is.  That being said, if Byrd runs the table, IMO he deserves the #1.  Wrestled All-Star, hasn't missed a dual (that I know of).  His schedule is not on him.

I know it's not in any criteria, but being defending champ should be worth something (it is, since Bryd is ranked 1 in every poll solely based on him winning last year and hasn't lost this year)

Blaze/Davino will meet again in B1G semi's

Smh as I pointed out in very detailed manner above the only criteria people seem to have for Byrd as the one seed is he won last year or he’s easy to root for.

Yes he doesn’t make the schedule but when the guys you are being seeded up against wrestled a much tougher schedule then you that matters.

if Davino is undefeated going into big tens he deserves the #1 seed and he if he wins big tens he should be #1 seed in the country , his resume at 133 is insane.

Blaze already has a better resume this season than Byrd and if he beats Davino I don’t see how you don’t seed him ahead of Byrd.
Byrd best big ten win is over 7-6 drake ayala who is 3-5 in the big ten

Just giving my opinion (which Is the opinion the B1G coaches will have once seeding comes out).  At the end of the day it will all play out at B1Gs.  They will have to hit each other then so it's kind of a moot point.

Of course you’re entitled to your opinion but you are giving an opinion on something that’s going to be decided in the numbers and the numbers and new criteria don’t favor Byrd. Do you think the big ten coaches are going to completely ignore the new seeding criteria and give Byrd the top seed just because ? It’s not a moot point bc seeding at ncaa will be crucial and a top 2 finish at big tens goes a long way and a big 10 semi vs Blaze/Davino and semi vs Fuggit/Ayala is a world of difference.
