My understanding of Mo Endene’s eligibility situation: The “JUCO rule” people refer to was actually a temporary NCAA waiver issued following Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia’s eligibility lawsuit. It allowed qualifying athletes who had competed at a non-NCAA school, such as a junior college, and otherwise exhausted their eligibility in 2024–25 to compete in Division I during 2025–26. That was the extra year Endene used at Iowa—the same waiver opportunity used by wrestlers such as Jett Strickenberger. The key: it applied specifically to the 2025–26 academic year. The NCAA issued limited relief in response to the Pavia case, rather than permanently removing JUCO seasons from eligibility calculations. It also didn’t automatically extend an athlete’s eligibility clock. So a medical redshirt alone wouldn’t turn that temporary waiver into eligibility for 2026–27. Endene would have needed separate relief to return. That’s my understanding of the issue, although I haven’t seen the NCAA’s specific explanation of his ruling.

Wrestled in high school varsity all 4 years back when NYS had one state tournament. Made sectional finals 3 years, placed 4th as freshman. Lost in state qualifier to eventual state champ in sudden victory.’ He went on to destroy everyone in states winning his 2nd state title . Was AAU All American in folkstyle, wrested a couple years and ran track at Cortland state. Was also an All American and still hold the New York state record in the 800m run for 13 year olds. Placed 7th in the USA Track & Field Hershey Youth Nationals .

The part about Cornell being in the mix is 100% not true. He either made it up or heard it from someone that made it up

The rumor that Brian Swaw posted has zero validity to it. Meyer has had zero intentions of returning back to Cornell and Grey has had zero dialog or attempt with having him come back. It was initially NC St- UNC- Nebraska…He eliminated NC state, then a couple of weeks ago decided to eliminate UNC. I can promise you with 100% certainty that returning to Cornell has not been an option for him from about a week into entering the portal.

He can choose the old rule set which he will do. His interest lies with getting healthy during a redshirt year and competing without injury for his last year of eligibility. So in a sense. the new rule set would benefit him if he was seeking out to compete for 2 years, however, that is not the case.

Shapiro has 2 years of eligibility left since he never red shirted. He wrestled with the Cornell RTC while he was still a senior in high school. then took 3rd as true freshman, 5th as soph, 8th as junior. He will announce Nebraska and that he chose to go with old rule set. He wlll take a red shirt with Nebraska so he can get healthy and compete in some freestyle at 74kg. Then he will compete for Nebraska for his senior season (2027-28 season) and will wrestle 165 lbs. He has been a light 157 pounder throughout his career but is starting to fill out weighing upwards of 175- 178 lbs right now. I wish him the best

He is going to Nebraska. He decided on it a few weeks ago.Not sure why Brian Swaw even suggested that Cornell was a possibility, because it was never, at least since he moved out of Ithaca nearly two months ago. It came down to UNC and Nebraska. He will announce Nebraska soon

You take any of the 125 pounders and have them in the.bottom position vs Seidel, they too will get smashed. I think his SV loss to Davino was much more telling. He also had wins over 133 lb Rd of 12 Max Leete and 133 lb rd of 12 Markel Baker. His other losses outside of Davino and Seidel were to Walker 2-1 TB , Spidle 7-4, abd Gage Whisenhunt 10-9 (total screw joh by official, watch match). I believe he can handle any grind after going 31-5 last year at 133 lbs the entire year (while his walk around weight was less then that). Kid was a u20 World Silver medalist in Greco two years ago and back on U20 team this year for FS. I could see him making top 4. Watch his match vs Davino, it was fire Best 4-1 SV match you will see. No stall calls on either guy and they only went out of bounds twice. Constant attacks. Yep, Isaiah is for sure going 125. Was great to see him down at 57kg already for U20s The loss of Meyer is huge!
