It was my first thought, but I have come to appreciate Patrick Kennedy more. Sure, the action isn't like Caliendo, but the effort is over the top. His record would be way better in one period 20 minute match. Watching Kennedy vs. Kharchla may not seem exciting, but I would pay to see it every time.

Iowa. Ryan Crookham. If he doesn't count, then Ryder Block. Last year would have been easy, Patrick Kennedy.

Now that it is here, I wonder what you thought the impact will be on future blue chip recruiting and transfers. I chart all the recruiting on a spreadsheet. Points at NCAA are skewed toward top 20 recruits. Top 20 recruits school choices are skewed toward the top handful of programs (more so than in the past). The other thing I noticed is that even when the top programs have great recruiting classes, the makeup of the class is often concentrated in a few weights (e.g. tOSU in lower weights, PSU in the middle). My first thought was that the new rule will spread out the top recruits as the reality of losing eligibility by sitting is now here. Not only that, but you also risk multiple years lost if you are behind someone, whereas you can now have 5 shots at the podium if you start immediately. Sitting was also less of an issue when you can manipulate a RS year, along with an injury year, and even a Olympic RS. You could sit for 2 years and still get four of a possible four years of wrestling. As for transferring, will wrestlers be less patient? They all arrive thinking they can win the starting spot, but now when they don't will they keep dropping a year of their potential five waiting to get the starting spot? I'm thinking not. So, is my logic wrong thinking it will reduce concentration of recruiting and lead to quicker transfers? I'm not sure it would be a bad thing. Go back in time and look at the champions photos, where you see guys from places like American University.

Don't sell yourself short. I have nothing against Pyles. I'm pro Pyles even if I disagree with him. But the podcast is 75% less entertaining since Funky Ben retired. I rarely sit through the whole thing. I would love to see a quality alternative. Basch and Willie may be better at times, but Willie has some annoying quirks. I tried to like Quad Pod, but it definitely has issues that make it difficult to be fully immersed in. If you want really bad, there is Cactus Wrestling. Similarly bad is BEG wrestling. So, can't wait for you guys to get started!!!!

That's the problem with listicals designed to show a pattern, you start throwing in things that aren't facts to bolster your claim. Snyder and Davis are facts. Brooks is partially true. The rest are not "facts". The latest teaser of an allegation is very serious. I'm thinking "Wow", but then I'm thinking that if all this was shared on a google drive, others would have heard about it, including Bartlett and McHenry, who would have made a point of it. Also, does "over 50" seem like a pretty high body count? I'll wait for more "facts". I think it's a little early to shut down the program.

I have watched them. Sometimes they are good, other times quite boring. The lead guy needs to talk less, saying the same thing 3 different ways (which CP does constantly), and draw out more from his 3 buddies.

An arrogant ass, too, but that's OK. I like CP and I don't mind the sessions with his kid. It takes a certain type to drive a podcast and CP is that type. When he isn't there, the show sucks. JD isn't the right kind of guy, he's just there to take the counter point side. I like Kozak, but he can't drive the show. I loved Tyler, but he wasn't trained up enough as a communicator to be a big contributor. The show is almost unwatchable since Funky Ben left. Then again there aren't too many that are. There are some other podcasters with better depth of knowledge on wrestling, but they aren't good as show hosts. If Willy is on and my wife walks into the den, she immediately turns around and leaves. She does not want to see him drooling into a bottle or hear him sucking back snot. He great contribution is insider information. Otherwise, the content is "People keep saying I said this, but that's not what I said. What I said was this." You can't tell whether "people" really said that, or he likes strawman arguments. I keep trying to find a podcast better than CP, and maybe Willy and Basch are marginally better, but I'm really willing to try someone else.

The energy and support changed my mind." I hear, "No offers yet, so I could use another ten grand for hair products and mirrors."

Excellent clarification. The previous post showed what each school spent on the program. This includes coaching salaries to singlets. The revenue sharing splits by each school are fascination. PSU provides a nice chunk to wrestling, while simultaneously providing enough funding to maintain the worst record in both men's and women's basketball. For some crazy reason, schools like OSU, Michigan, and Iowa also want to have quality basketball teams, too. Crazy.

I was wondering the same thing. First thought was they were all testing the market to determine, then letting the school know what the number was they had to match. It is also quite possible they were all waiting to hear if they got accepted into grad school, with the portal move being preemptive in case they did not. I'm also wondering if there will be a late rush of preemptive entries on April 30. Let's say you are a starter at a good program. That program has recruited someone better at your weight class, but that guy hasn't committed yet. Should you enter the portal in case the better portal guy hasn't made a choice yet? If the TP guy commits on May 1, you can't enter the portal and risk sitting on the bench for a year, using a year of eligibility.

I don't think you made it up. It is just that there was 100% certainty in your position. Now, you have backed away from your certainty because he has "something to think about". One can enter the portal with a "do not contact" designation when you have already made your deal. There is no certainty until the deal is done. And finally, I hope he does go to Michigan.

DazeOfGrace should let Willy know he completely wrong as he has told everyone else in this thread. He has insisted it has been a done deal to Michigan for a long time. Done deals aren't done until there is ink on the paper.

I know last year, some guys just enrolled at a new school in the fall and joined the team. I'm not sure they can do that anymore, but I could be wrong. It sucks if they can't. You basically lose a year if they bring in a better hired gun.

Curious question. Let's say you are national qualifier at top 10 or top 20 school. On May 1, your school signs a top 8 guy out of the portal at your weight class. You are 90% sure you are going to lose your starting spot. What are your options with the portal now closed?

Per FRL, he just had a great visit to Iowa and it is between Michigan and Iowa.

Levi struggled to make 157 as soph. He barely had the energy to finish early season matches. He looked like Bouzakis did in some of his 125 matches. Levi's jump wasn't difficult. I'm not sure if it is the same for Cannon.

Add one more factor....money. The AJ addition was very late and I'm sure Nebraska had to scrape up some extra dough to get him. It was a prudent move for one year, but the reality is that every team has to live within their own budget. If Ziola is ready to go, you no longer need the free agent. Nebraska just lost their only top 20 recruit since 2021. They have some holes to fill. Their money is better spent elsewhere.

Wow. Thanks. There's a lot of fun stats in those numbers. I was disappointed when I discovered the comparison sheet went from 1982 straight to 2024. But, it did make me look up esports, which shouldn't even be on the list.

My first thought. It's not a great fit. They have Stiles, Shaw, Deselle, and Cannon at 149/157. Also, they are overloaded with talent in the lower weights with Kilkeary, Bouzakis, Davino, Mills, and Munaretto. I figured one of those guys would move up to 141.

It is a gesture to fix a real problem that will not pass legal scrutiny, not that the fix is a great solution. I would love to limit transfers to 2, not counting grad transfers, but such a rule would violate the basis of the court ruling that created the current situation. One shouldn't assume the idea originated from Trump or just happened. It was likely originated by someone else in the administration or a Republican in congress a year ago and wound its way, with its exact wording to be signed now. I would expect it to be gone by the start date, or at least an injunction. The overuse and overreach of executive orders started a while ago and will now be embraced by every president in the future. But that's another conversation.
