  2. Kinda sad to see Ragusin end his career by not qualifying. But he did get 4 NCAA’s so I guess I don’t feel too bad. Still a solid career and I’ll never forget his interview about John Smith after losing to Fix.

  10. Brock Hardy comes to mind. I'm not a Nebraska guy but Brock is good, wrestles hard, scrambly, fun to watch, respectful, and complimentary to his opponents. I don't know him personally at all but seems like a class act.

  13. 125 Pounds Desmond Pleasant, Drexel Mack Mauger, Missouri Brady Roark, South Dakota State Nicolar Rivera, Wisconsin Sulayman Bah, Columbia I think this is correct 133 Pounds Braxton Brown, Maryland Dominick Serrano, Northern Colorado Dylan Shawver, Rutgers Marcel Lopez, SIU Edwardsville Luke Willochell Wyoming Correct 141 Pounds Pierson Manville, Arizona State Braden Basile, Army West Point Billy DeKraker, Northwestern Matthew Martino, Princeton I would like to see the rational on this one Frezza had way more wins against the field and beat Martino 3 out 4 times But lost the last one. The other one was DeKraker has zero wins against the field. Someone like AJ Rallo or Ragusin. 149 Pounds Kaden Cassidy, George Mason Chance Lamer, Nebraska Max Petersen, North Dakota State Eligh Rivera, Princeton No real problem. But I could see switching out Cassidy for Edmonds but no real argument 157 Pounds Mason Shrader, Central Michigan Vinny Zerban, Iowa State Jonathan Ley, Navy Dylan Evans, Pittsburgh Can't really argue with any of these. But Teague Travis was 12-8 in a half season and his loses were to 2x Larkin, 2x Watters, 2x Robideau, Zerban, and Jordan Williams all ranked in the top 10 when he wrestled them. So I wonder how his RPI looked. But his only win over the field was Laird Root. 165 Pounds Ryan Burgos, Edinboro Tyler Lillard, Indiana Matty Bianchi, Little Rock Jared Keslar, Pittsburgh Thomas Snipes, The Citadel Got a problem with this one. Snipes went 0-2 in Socon and only has two wins against the field (Sparks & Vigil) His win % was over 70 and that is a criteria. I honestly think this is giving the SOCON one At Large. Burgos went 0-2 in the MAC and has only two wins against the field (Church & Keslar) His Win % was over 70. Keslar has one win against the field (Church) took 5th in ACC Brett Smith of Northern Illinois took 2nd in MAC (Lost true 2nd) and has three wins over the field (Church, Earnest, Parco) Parco Beat Keslar at ACC. Their win % is almost identical. I would like to see the reasoning on this one. Makes no sense. 174 Pounds Avery Bassett, Lock Haven Jared Simma, Northern Iowa Luca Augustine, Pittsburgh Holden Garcia, Princeton No problems 184 Pounds Tyler Bienus, Bucknell Sam Goin, Indiana Nick Fox, Northern Iowa Brian Soldano, Oklahoma I thought they would take Gautreau of Lock Haven. But Bienus has a win over him so no arguements here. 197 Pounds Evan Bates, Missouri Brock Zurawski, Rider Kael Bennie, Utah Valley Rune Lawrence, West Virginia I thought they would take Zyan Hall of Army OR Jack Wehmeyer of Columbia over Kael Bennie. Hall beat Wehmeyer. But Wehmeyer has wins two over the field (Hall has none). But Bennie has wins over the field in Bates, Ingham, and Kade Rule. So I can see it 285 Pounds Emmanuel Ulrich, American Connor Barket, Duke Jack Forbes, Utah Valley Christian Carroll, Wyoming A couple here Forbes didn't place at Big XII but has two wins over the field Stoner and Rasmussen. But Lost to Buhk from SIUE who has a win over Stoner and placed 2nd in the MAC (Lost in the True 2nd match) and has been ranked since December. Ulrich's only win against the field is Monchery of App State. Also, I could have seen Ashton Davis getting a bid his only win over the field was Mason Rebuck

  14. As an alum, it just seems like they can't compete in this NIL era. Don't think we'll be getting many No.1 (Tsistsis, Welch) or top 5 (Micic, Brice Brill) going forward. This year they would be a somewhat competitive Ivy team. What do they do?

  20. 100% Since I accept the scientific understanding that a fetus is a human being, I believe that this human, who has committed no crime deserving death, has a right to live. Make better choices and be accountable for your choices applies in over 90% of the elective reasons that aborters give. Giving one's child up for adoption is ethically better than killing a human.

  21. Yup, I’ve said it before but unless Mendez loses at NCAAs he’s winning the Hodge. I don’t care if Mesenbrink, Barr and Haines all pin their way through NCAAs. It’s Jesse’s to lose.

  22. No Teague Travis or Max Mayfield of Mizzou. Figured they would get an at large. Josh Edmond as an alternate. Glad to see Mauger and Bates get an at large. Never leave it in the hands of the committee, go win it on the mat.

  26. It's ok to have an outstanding university's primary focus be that of academics and research first. NW gives a significant portion back to the Big Ten in that regard rather than athletics. Would we love to have more participation from fans across the spectrum? Of course! But most people in the local area did not go to NW, and NW brings students nationally that do not stick around in the north burbs. Sprinkle in that many alumni that are around are not a stereotypical sports fan and you have a recipe for lackadaisical attendance for any sport. The athletic department does well within the confines placed upon it, but it will never be a top priority.

  27. I know Pablo has McEnelly ahead of Welsh. I think it watched the match and gave him the takedown.

  28. Manning will yell at an official to fight for his guys but his program hasn't had a guy get drunk and fight a cop, kick someone in the back, push anyone off an elevated stage, get popped for PEDs, arrested for soliciting a BJ, had anyone accused of stealing in the locker room, nor had a former Finalist and AA make allegations that he claimed was swept under the rug all in the last year. Take a breathe. The officiating has been terrible this year and discussing it is fairly normal. Enjoy the dominance your team just displayed and will likely repeat in 2 weeks. I promise Manning yelling at an official or people discussing a questionable call isn't going to change any of that.

  30. we definitely need Jax and Seidel on opposite sides, if only for the possibility that two kids who wrestled in HS state finals last year could meet in NCAA finals a year later.

  34. I think it's been a little bit underrated how well he's done with this extreme cut this year. By all accounts, he had a big cut when he was at 133. He took it to another level in the way of Michigan era Nick Suriano down at 125. But unlike Suriano, Bouzakis doesn't look miserable all the time. From the outside looking in, based on his consistency of his performances in spite of such an extreme weight cut, it appears as if Bouzakis has ELITE weight discipline.

  36. There is more to it, though. That winning percentage vs rating curve has an analytical relationship. If you remember your stats class, it has the shape of a standard integrated normal distribution. If you don't remember your stats class, what you can do is to look how far the rating difference (in standard deviations) is from the mean (in this case 0) and convert it to a probabilty (statistical programs have this information built in; in Excel you use normsdist to convert rating difference to probability, or normsinv to convert probability to rating difference). The way Pablo is designed is that it should be linear with respect to that transformed probability. Details of how that gets implemented are available upon request. But the key is the plot of the transformation vs rating difference. Indeed, this is a pretty darn good linear relationship (r^2=0.988). The other feature of this plot is the slope, which is 0.0007 or something like that. The higher the slope, the more senstive the winning probablity is to the difference. In principle, the slope would nominally be 0.0005, so it's about 40% higher. I can tell you that is really good. Earlier in the season that slope will be more like 0.00035 (a slope of 0 would mean that the every match has a 50/50 outcome regardless of the rating difference). In the end, Pablo is cooking along pretty well now. I've started working on pre-nationals rankings and will update when I know more.

  43. It's my understanding that Blaze and Duke are sitting Van Ness down for a maintain-your-stance-did-you-not-know-the-other-guy-can-shoot? intervention. Like everyone on the team can't be messenbrinkish Shane. Maybe if you wear shoes that blend in with the color of the mat it wouldn't present such a target. There are times you remind us of an Iranian ballistic missile launcher dude.
