Less credit given for Hvy pins especially for Taylor being 200 lbs heavier than opponents. He was a very good wrestler for hi size, but I don't think he was ever regarded as an "outstanding" wrestler3 points

Brayton Lee to Bellarmine as an assistant coach https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMtcq90PXx8/ That makes two former IU wrestlers (sorta) on the Bellarmine coaching staff2 points

Hard to say. During the regular season he had a 42% bonus rate. It was during the Big10 and NCAA tournies that he really locked it down. In 2014 he only scored 15 points on the way to his title. But it is unknown if that is the lowest total ever for a title winner with 5 decisions. In 1953 Cornell's Don Dickason scored 13 points in the 4 matches for which a score was recorded in the bracket. The fifth match is just listed as a ref's decision. If the score was 0-0 or 1-1, the "title" would belong to Dickason. Dickason won three of his five matches by ref's decision. One was recorded as 2-2, one was recorded as 1-1, and one had no score attached. There is probably no truth to the rumor that Dickason's uncle was the ref that day, but he is the only wrestler to win three matches by ref's decision in a single tournament.2 points

RV, you are one of a kind. You typed the words, I directly quoted the words and you call it a lie. All while maintaining your motives are pure. mspart2 points

His performance wasn't only outstanding It was historic. One cannot score more team points than he did. A wrestler has only maxed that out a handful of times. He was also the Gorrarian of all NCAA tournaments up to that point. By that I mean at the 1973 tournament he had 5 pins in 13:52. No one had more that 5 pins and no one had 5 pins in less time. Since 1973 someone has scored 5 pin at NCAAs in less time, but that person didn't win the title.2 points

I don't think he holds 125 at all. While I realize it's the offseason, he just wrestled at CA freestyle state championships in May at 65kg (143 lbs). I think he redshirts, bulks up and comes back at 141 as a RS Freshman. Don't sleep on Ramirez- he's slick on his feet, has a really good slide by, pretty tough on top, and a very high ceiling. It's going to be an interesting room at OSU for the next couple of years, and I think Ramirez is one that will benefit the most from being in a competitive college room.2 points

Is anyong giving Joey Blaze or Dee Lockett a shot at taking out Mitchell? I assume Dee has the better shot, getting in the college room and being coached by DT who showed what he can do against PSU last year with Wyatt and Hamiti. Blaze, in my biased opinion, always has a shot at winning, Kasak is the perfect example of him being able to beat anyone any given day. He is also onto his second international event this year so he is getting better this off season no doubt.2 points

Not right away. The wrestlers on the roster (and incoming freshman) that are over the roster limit are exempted from the roster limit for the rest of their careers (designated student athletes, I believe they will be called). The schools do not have to keep them on roster, but they can choose to keep them. And if one of those wrestlers chooses to transfer elsewhere his roster exemption follows him to his new school.2 points

x2 It doesn't make any sense. Especially when the only real hole he seems to have, that is apparent right now, is that he is small at 74 KG. He needs to add size. And anyways... there isn't a soul at 165lbs who is going to come close to beating him next season. Why would he cut the extra eight pounds?2 points
-
No, not at all. I just thought his movement last season in the few matches he wrestled at 165lbs didn't look as good as when he was at 174lbs. He's a 0.500 wrestler if he goes 174lbs next season (losing record in the B1G, likely - winning otherwise). If he goes 165lbs, I don't like his chances.2 points

I do not know how I feel about this question. It is a pretty obscure one, but here goes. Who holds the record for most points scored while going 0-2 at a single NCAA tournament?1 point
-
This is true. Our state government makes $0.55 per gallon in gas tax and the CO2 tax is 46 cents for gas and 56 cents for diesel. In comparison, at 8.3% profit margin, a $4.35 per gallon (current cheap price here in WA) yields 36 cents a gallon. So yes, the government makes more on gas than the gas companies do. mspart1 point
-
You prefer the government being in charge of gas? They regulate like it's their own, but I doubt they could ever deliver a more affordable product. It's not a hobby for oil companies to deliver oil products to the public and their margins are incredibly low but still the government could never do better. Ironically the single largest profiteering in the oil industry is done by the government.1 point

But why label it racist or nazi etc? That is just plain unhinged. I don't buy many jeans so the ad doesn't concern me. What is concerning is this unhinged reaction to it. Now if they were saying Syndey Sweeney is awesome looking etc etc, or is ugly why did they pick her as a model, that is more understandable. Or if you just don't like that brand for whatever reason. But to call the ad with its play on words racist or nazi is just plain unhinged. mspart1 point

I don't listen to Sean Hannity. He is irritating. Regurgitates the same lines every time I see him or hear him. Nope not Hannity. This is just such a stupid thing to defend RV. It is not the right's fault that they point out when the left acts like idiots. mspart1 point

The stuff you'll read on here is truly unbelievable. I just look at it as entertainment and try to hope that the idiocy isn't truly representative of the average American, or even people in the wrestling community.1 point

I think there are three non champs with 5 PFs. Dan Gable 2nd place 1970 in 22:08, Darryl Peterson 5th place 1985 in 5:31, and Gary Albright 3rd place 1986 15:34. Both Gable and Peterson benefited from a championship pig tail. You had Albright and Gable with 5 falls in the table in your thread on this award, but Peterson only had 4 falls in the table. Interesting stuff in that thread.1 point

He was extremely competitive with Knox, and I believe it was first match off the scale at the open. I think he has an incredibly high ceiling, but I also think the Raney's will benefit immensely from being in that room and if that is the case I am not sure where he fits in aside from redshirt years? That being said I firmly believe okst has the best room in the country from 125-149 yes I know PSU has lilledahl, blaze, ono, svn, nick lee, zain,Gillman but Ramirez,Jax,Zinkin,Raney's,Fix,RBY,Swiderski,Sakamoto,Figs,Spratley,Hughes,Jamison,Vega I think there is something to be said about getting a ton of different feels of really good guys who also have different styles.1 point

Darryl Peterson ISU 1985. 5 PFs in 5:32. Finished 5th at unlimited. I think he is the overall Gorriaran at NCAAs. If I'm off on that it's because there are multiple Petersons in that bracket and they wrested each other.1 point

I like this pickup. I don't know if I like him at 174lbs, though. I think I prefer Shannon at 174lbs and O'Neil at 165lbs. Honestly, if Marines decides 165lbs is the weight he wants to go, then both of them are out of luck for 165lbs. High hopes for Marines.1 point

Ben Askren just went from hero to "eff it, put this game on Legendary mode and I'm about to set the world record." I've never been more pumped to see someone spit out 5 pound curls in my life. If this guy is any more inspirational we may not have any brick walls left because we ran through them all thanks to him.1 point

Any discussion about Burroughs taking over as the head coach is a waste of space. The Penn wrestling community is ecstatic that Valenti will be taking over this year. While Matt is a good dude and a good coach people forget that he was a three time All-American and a two-time national champ for Penn, probably the greatest folk style wrestler in Penn wrestling history. As a former Penn wrestler and big supporter of the program, I think the future looks bright for Penn wrestling.1 point
