  1. Soon as I read this I remembered something, decided to check the edit history of Pendleton's page. Page creation and first edit of his page was over 20 years ago by some rando with a weird name:

  3. Ben shot all the time. I'll agree he didn't have the best shot or cleanest finishes, but he had enough to get his hands locked around a leg, and once he got there, he wasn't going to lose from that position. Ben knew that if he could just get in on a leg, he could create scramble situations that favored him. And what Ben did wasn't invent scrambling. Scrambling has always existed. What he did was turn what seemed like a spontaneous sequence of events into a calculated and technical aspect of wrestling. In the "Funky" flo film, he talked about a particular scramble situation (I want to say far ankle but I'm not sure) and off the top of his head he goes through "If I do A. he can either respond in 2 ways, if he does A. then I do this, if he does B., then I do this, then we end up in this position.." and so on. He is truly one of the greatest wrestling minds of all time IMO.

  4. Heard on The Quad Pod that the finalists for this are Scott Green, Kellen Russell, and Ryan LeBlanc. I'd personally like to see Scott Green get this.

  5. Think it is also important to note the Hodge was a lot different back then. Pins were the deal. You know who won the Hodge Pendleton's junior year? Emmett Wilson from Montana State- Northern. Chris was as good as any one in college wrestling those two years and I don't think he even got a single Hodge vote. The criteria was different. It would be one thing if the series record was 4-3. However, you have two dominant wrestlers (who wrestled at the same time) but one guy beat the other 7 out of 8 times. Chris was bonusing his way to NCAA titles.

  7. I’ve been busy and just now seeing these lists of top schools for both Anderson and Borge. Mizzou would love to have both of you. Dean spent some time with and took pictures with Keegan O’Toole and Aeoden Sinclair while at Fargo. Hopefully that’s a good sign for all of us Tiger fans.

  8. Ah, hadn’t heard that, thanks. But it’s not just a singlet, Blades is part of HWC. https://hawkeyewrestlingclub.com/newsletter/may-2025/ Interesting that they don’t mind having pretty much their entire NCAA men‘s roster listed as part of HWC, but Blades appears to be the only woman to make the cut. Keep in mind the women’s team also includes World Medalist Kylie Welker and 2x World Medalist Macey Kilty.

  9. So help me understand why the dip shytes didn't deport them and why should they not be held criminally and civilly accountable for the shootings they committed after their gross negligence. negligence on two parts. Why are felons of any kind released to the public. Second. Why are illegal alien felons not held to a higher standard and either kept and prosecuted or deported.

  11. A while back in Iran, a woman was killed for not wearing the proper head covering. That doesn’t happen in civilized societies where liberty prevails. It caused quite a ruckus. But liberty has to be earned - and protected. In the meantime, you might want to read up on what is being referred to as the Red Green Marxist Islamist Coalition.

  13. Aaaand there it is. You really don’t know Iran and Saudi Arabia are two completely different countries, huh? Lord help me - this is who I’m dealing with. Yeah, cool. Iranian women never had to cover their faces. That’s Saudi stuff. In Iran, it’s just about covering hair - and even that’s loosely enforced in a lot of places. It’s not like women are walking around in burqas. Driving’s never been banned for women in Iran. Ever. In fact, most of the drivers you see in cities are women. Women even drive buses, trucks, and long-distance taxis. If your wife only takes the lawnmower for a spin, just know Iran has female pilots too. Yeah, guess what? Boating and fishing aren’t banned in Iran either - and since the country has coastlines both north and south, plenty of women do both. There's even a national women’s rowing team that competes in the freakin' Olympics. Maybe chill with the stereotypes, man. You're just embarrassing yourself at this point. And FYI - I’ve worked with some brilliant, thoughtful Americans on GitHub, so I know better than to assume you're representative of the whole country. But if anyone else stumbles onto your comments, they might not be as generous.

  19. So you are of the opinion, against all evidence, that the Russian collusion hoax is not a hoax, it actually happened? If you believe it was a hoax, who was the promulgator of the hoax. If not a hoax, please provide your evidence. Generally the media is fond of saying, Trump says x with no evidence. But there is apparently plenty of evidence showing that intel said there was no russian collusion and that the "official" narrative happened over the objections of the intel folks but was the working story. So it cannot be said that Trump or Gabbard say this without any evidence. But there is one out fit saying it the no evidence mantra. https://www.dw.com/en/trump-accuses-obama-of-treason-without-providing-evidence/a-73377474 Trump accuses Obama of 'treason,' without providing evidence I will grant that treason might not be the deal here, I have not thought that through. But that Obama is complicit is demonstrated. I don't know if that rises to the level of treason or not. I'll allow the legals minds to figure that out. Matt Taibbi has looked into this and is not on Obama's side and he is not friend to Trump. https://www.foxnews.com/media/obama-now-squarely-russiagate-crosshairs-journalist-matt-taibbi-claims Obama now 'squarely in Russiagate crosshairs,' journalist Matt Taibbi claims "The last major revelation that came out was that John Brennan and James Comey were the focus of criminal investigations that had been opened by the Justice Department, but these new documents that were released by Tulsi Gabbard… make it clear that the investigation is now aimed at the Obama White House and, in particular, at Barack Obama, because of decisions that were made in early December 2016 to suppress the presidential daily briefing and go ahead and order a new intelligence community assessment that ultimately would have much more aggressive conclusions about Trump and Russia," he [Taibbi] told co-host Bill Hemmer. Perhaps the truth of Russiagate and all the investigations against Trump are coming to light. mspart

  22. FWIW, those are Wrestlestat's 'rankings' and include everyone. Walters is the #29 ranked starter, which means they are 'rated' to have 10 NQ. I think Ragusin and Catrabone have the most vertical movement likely, followed closely by Walters and Ghadiali. The biggest chance of a drop would likely be Mantanona at 184lbs. His 'rating' appears highly inflated due to 10/12 matches being bonus point victories last season. He also appeared much smaller than Henckle (Penn State True Frosh this year) at U20s 79 KG (174lbs) finals. I hope he fills out, as I would like to see both Mantanona brothers attempt to compete for a team spot in their careers. It would be nice to not have to watch them face one another.

  24. Any discussion about Burroughs taking over as the head coach is a waste of space. The Penn wrestling community is ecstatic that Valenti will be taking over this year. While Matt is a good dude and a good coach people forget that he was a three time All-American and a two-time national champ for Penn, probably the greatest folk style wrestler in Penn wrestling history. As a former Penn wrestler and big supporter of the program, I think the future looks bright for Penn wrestling.

  28. When did Gable instruct his wrestlers to lie to the NCAA during an investigation?
    1 point
  29. To answer the question of the topic…coordination, footwork, balance, learning to work in groove with another, and other aspects of kentics along those lines. That is why. I took a dance class in college. Our coach required it. The teacher had worked with the 76’ers for two years during the Allen Iverson era. His second year they made the finals. The only year they made the finals in that era. I’m pretty confident it wasn’t a coincidence. I don’t think the reason reason it’s in college catalog these days has anything to do with Hitler.

  32. So it’s looking more and more like Gabbard was just yelling “Obama Obama” for the headlines and the minions, meanwhile you have these sudden file dumps and Johnson shutting down Congress early with important stuff on the table, all of this with gathering heat on the President. Hmmmmmm

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. 37. To start, I also think the quarter century team is dumb, especially when the majority of guys wrestled at multiple weight classes during their careers and there is picking and choosing regarding which weights guys are being considered. That being said.. I would 100% pick Askren over Pendleton. 4x Finalist, 2x Undefeated National Champion, 2x Hodge winner, most pins in NCAA wrestling this quarter century, and he absolutely dominated his junior and senior years.

  40. I understand this sentiment but I do hold my nose and vote. I helped Clinton get elected by voting against Bush via casting my ballot for Perot. Perot was far from perfect but Bush had forfeited any shot at re-election via betrayal and craven spinelessness. And Clinton was, well, you know, too slick to be let out of Little Rock..
