Something to keep an eye on: the NCAA and power conferences have actively lobbied Congress to codify a federal NIL framework, which brings us to the SCORE Act (HR 4312). The proposed legislation would: Prohibit schools from charging mandatory student fees to subsidize athletics programs and NIL (e.g., Cleveland State's $90/yr "save wrestling" tuition fee, Clemson's $150 athletics fee, portions of Fresno State's $495 instructional activities fee; but not "talent fees" and similar add-ons that are tacked onto season ticket sales) Require agents to register and carry a license, and caps their compensation at 5% of the athlete's NIL contract Require schools to cover all medical expenses for athletic injuries for at least 3 years after they graduate or leave school, and provide academic, career counseling, and financial assistance if they decide to return to college Keep the FBS 16 sport minimum (with at least 8 women's sports), applicable to any program with a coach that earns more than $250k/yr Block athletes from being classified as employees of the university based on their participation in sports Go back to the one-time transfer rule; multiple transfers still be allowed but the athlete would have to sit the season out Grant the NCAA, conferences, and programs an antitrust exemption, as long as they comply with the SCORE framework, mitigating further lawsuits based on anticompetitive practices So, a mix of good and questionable rules. The bill is still making its way through committee (current draft is here, for the legislative masochists) so who knows how it might be amended or modified, but I think expectations for now are that it'll pass the House and be a cointoss in the Senate.2 points

This has been my dilemma for the past ten years. Only difference between you and I, and I don’t say this to say one of us is right or wrong, is that I don’t feel like I just have to vote for someone just to vote. So instead of voting for either heaping piles of dog *I poop my pants, don't laugh at me*, I’ve just left that slot blank and worked my way down the rest of the ballot. Would be nice to see someone I feel fit for that office on the ballot. Preferably on the Republican side, but I’ll take anything worthwhile at this point.1 point

PA is absolutely stupid on this issue. Probably the reason it's getting voted down is because certain politicians need to secure the grower/processor and dispensary permits to certain individuals. I know someone who looked into it and reached out to someone about the process and they point blank said, "Are you related to someone important? If not, no chance in hell. There's going to be a lot of money in this."1 point

Yes. He totally screwed the pooch on Covid (Warp Speed, Navy Hospital ships to NYC, not getting rid of Fauci on the first mask reversal, allowing shut downs to be EVEN PROPOSED!!!), being soft on illegal aliens while focusing on the visual of a wall, not draining the swamp, exploding government spending, firing Flynn rather than the top 1000 FBI and CIA political operatives, and many other things. He was OK on tax policy (although SALT deduction should be zero), foreign policy, energy policy, getting out of silly international agreements. The question is why couldn't the Republicans nor the Democrats come up with something more appealing to the American people? When asked by European work colleagues in 2016 who I was going to vote for - it is strange how interested in American politics they are and how they feel it is not to personal a question to ask someone - I would answer thus: "I have stated before that I will vote for a steaming pile of dog feces before voting for Hilary Clinton. And this year I have the opportunity to prove it." I supported other candidates in the contested primaries of 2016 and 2024. Yet the democrats leave me only the option of proving dog feces is preferable to their candidate over and over again. Where is the modern day Sam Nunn, Daniel Patrick Moynihan, etc?1 point

I thought Carr got screwed in the semis in a # of ways. - What was with the caution 1 with the pushout? Carr was in no position to dictate where he or his opponent went . He simply got driven out of bounds…hence a pushout. To give a caution 1 there ? - Then came the chest wrap. Carr stops his momentum, never touches his butt to ground and exposed Japan: Head official awards 2 for Carr 0 Japan (correct call) white paddled, Japan 2pts Carr gets nothing ..horrible . So Carr goes down 6-0 when the score really should have been 3-2 Japan. Carr gets two takedowns and on BOTH, Official blows action dead early as Carr is locking up a lace both times. Carr is on top and attempts what looks to be a trap arm tilt/gut, and exposes himself but ends up back on top. Rules say that when attempting a gut, it’s a point for the bottom guy if he’s able to hold you on your back for five seconds while you’re attempting a gut. Clearly that wasn’t the case but they just gave Japan two points for an exposure and then current one point for reversal. 8-5 now and then Carr with another takedpwn 8-7 he is down with 9 sec left. Carr gets in again and again and is taking him down as time expires..not in time. Challenge brick.. nice to see that his corner knows what that brick is for .. too little too late on that…loses challenge so final 9-7. Carr was the better wrestler I thought. I think for him to only lose by 1 (well before lost challenge) was unreal considering all the shinanigans going on with calls not in his favor.1 point

You can't know if someone is a woman just because they are anatomically correct. Anyone can be a woman. In many cases, men have been better women than women have. How would anyone know if that picture is anatomically correct? Ket (you just saw her) anji Brown Jackson couldn't tell the Senate what a woman is because she was not a biologist. RV are you a biologist? Apparently not because you are a geologist. So how can you say that the doodle is anatomically correct? You can't if we are to believe the rhetoric. So we can see how morally and logically bankrupt the trans ideology is. Even RV can see right through it. It is the embodiment of the Emperor's new clothes story. mspart1 point

Is this your standard Ohio State going away gift bag? "before denying consent to search the OSU bag. He admitted it contained additional firearms, and police seized the vehicle and obtained a search warrant, court records say. The bag was then found to contain three handguns: an FN 9mm, Walther .380-caliber and Glock 27 .40-caliber, according to the court records."1 point

You’re ahead of me… An old Persian poem comes to mind. Here’s a rough translation of a few lines: Someone who doesn’t know, but knows they don’t - they might stumble along, but they’ll get where they’re going. Someone who doesn’t know, but wants to - they’ll break free from ignorance, body and soul. Someone who doesn’t know, and doesn’t know they don’t - they’ll stay stuck in their own ignorance forever. And someone who doesn’t know and doesn’t care to - honestly, it’s a shame they’re even still around.1 point
