  1. Just spitballing here. PSU fires Cael. Iowa brass can now hire the only active coach more successful than Brands, thereby satisfying all those calling for change at Iowa. Now tOSU alums who have been calling for the firing of Ryan can now hire Brands, the only active available coach with more national championships than Ryan. In order to start fresh with a clean break, PSU hires first time head coach Jordan Burroughs, who will receive a standing ovation when he enters Rec Hall. Finally, the poles with complete the flip from North to South.

  2. Ok, that was tough to watch, but I’m glad I did. He survived a very difficult surgery and couldn’t wait to thank everyone for their support. Regardless of what side of the arena you’re on, he’s one of us and let’s cheer him on.

  3. As far as I've heard he's still there training. Maybe him being removed from wrestlestat would indicate he hasn't been accepted into the school yet.

  4. Should we care about him? Probably not unless he says he wants to see ICE agents dead. Then you should start to care about him and all those who he influences. Not because he runs for a city council, but because he said that. You would definitely take notice if some obscure guy said he can't wait to see trans folks dead on the streets. You would call it another piece of evidence that that conservatives are bad. Funny that you won't do that for liberal/progressive/socialist/anarchist crazies. mspart

  7. The 3-point thread got me thinking about overtime. Though the methods for deciding tied matches have changed a lot over time*, overtime became a permanent way to decide them in 1957. While highly variable from 1957 to 2025, the percentage of overtime matches has been generally growing. During the continuous use of overtime, the percentage of overtime matches has never been higher than in this past season at 10.8%. (The only thing that has me scratching my head is the drop off in 2016 and 2017. There were a few rule changes in 2016 that may, or may not, have led to the drop off (5 second rule, one of three calls for going OB), but it is not obvious to me that they do. If anyone has an opinion here, just shout it out.) Too Much Is Never Enough We have already discussed the individual overtime leaders, Illinois heavy John Lockhart (7-0 career OT record) for win % and Iowa 165 Ryan Morningstar (6-3) for volume, but who are the team leaders? There is obviously a volume story here. The more years you go and the more wrestlers you send, the more OT matches you will have. So let's look at that first (minimum 75 OT matches). No surprise that the two most dominant teams in history, Oklahoma State and Iowa, also dominate the list of OT matches and OT wins. More surprising is that with such a high use rate Iowa also has the highest win rate at 61.8%. At the other end of the spectrum is NC State. They really need to get it done in regulation as their OT win % is an anemic 40.7% Or Maybe It Is? But that analysis misses a few things. Just because you win a lot of OT matches does not mean you want to go to OT. Most teams have a lower winning percentage in OT than in regulation. Oklahoma State REALLLLLY wants to avoid overtime. Their regulation win % is 16.4% higher than their overtime win %. Purdue, on the other hand, wants to lure you into the deep water where they have a significantly better chance of winning (+9.8%) Central Michigan has probably optimized things. They get to overtime more frequently than anyone else AND they increase their win % once they are there by 6.7%.

  8. Wow … emotional view. 45 pound weight loss in 50 days. No memory of over a month. Can hear his thankfulness for those that have shown their love. And he sounds positive. As usual. Amazing guy. Folks — a good idea is to show your apppreciation and love to those that deserve it … now. Don’t wait for hell to come to the front door. They will love to hear it and it will come back to you. Be good to each other.

  17. The point is you are free to believe whatever you want and others can have a different opinion. You don't set the standard. There are a lot of reasons a prosecutor may not file charges, a he said/he said case could be hard to prove beyond reasonable doubt so they don't file charges or the alleged sexual victims not wanting to go public or have their names out there for the PSU mob to go after her. From the outside, it doesn't seem Carter is a great guy so I am not going to get worked up every time someone calls him an abuser even though he may never get charged with a crime. You can obliviously take a different opinion.

  18. Look, the whole 'innocent until proven guilty' thing? That's a legal principle for the courtroom. It's about how the justice system operates, making sure the government has to prove someone's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt before they can be locked up. It's a protection against wrongful convictions...blah blah... But outside of a court of law, in everyday life, we're totally allowed to speculate, discuss, and form opinions based on the information we have. If there's a lot of evidence pointing towards someone, or if their actions look suspicious, we're not legally bound to pretend they're saints until a judge bangs a gavel. We can absolutely talk about whether we think Starocci might be guilty, or that it looks like he did something wrong. Of course sometimes speculation goes overboard etc. But we're just talking here, throwing out ideas

  19. Again, this is only true in terms of taking his freedom away, or taking money from him. We as humans form opinions on whatever standard we like. As I've mentioned countless times, look no further than OJ Simpson, Casey Anthony, and Sean "Diddy" Combs.

  21. Zepeda at NC State has the potential to be one of our greatest rivalries ever - especially were Bo to go out the gate and not Redshirt. That said, I do think Zepeda is looking to slot in at 149lbs for NC State after a redshirt? I'm not sure what weight Bo is looking to go, but he has been wrestling up 1-3 weight classes for the team (and to just plain get better without worring about weight management) since he first went up to 138lbs two years ago.

  24. What is the status on Bo’s college choice? This round had way less publicity than his first cycle. Chatter seems to indicate Nebraska as a likely favorite vs Ok State and PSU From a biased standpoint, VT is probably a better choice if he wants to be a program changer. He could slot in after Henson graduates and would get to train with Henson since he’ll likely be around Blacksburg to train for the next Olympic cycle. If I was a rising 149 college prospect, I’d jump at the opportunity to train with Henson who will end up as one of the top 149 guys in history.

  26. Your bolded part was me referring to your response to me this morning, not your responses to me yesterday before everything seemingly came about being offended and due to feels. In your responses to me this morning you addressed nothing in the points I made, other than claiming that you laughed at the LA Clippers example because you agreed with it, but instead open some can of worms about being offended and all up in feelings. Housing discrimination due to race is not a lens I 'choose' to view anything, it is recognizing the fact, that he was found liable for it, and then repeated the practice after being liable for it, and it is just one example of racism. Recognizing comments and actions from someone is not choosing to view through a chosen lens, it is simple recognition. In fact I would argue denying it happened or pretending like it didn't happen is exactly that....viewing through a chosen lens. If you don't agree with that, so be it.

  27. How was I not civil? I am not sure how you took that as being offended. I didn't call any names, I didn't get personal. You opened the door with people "like you", so I walked through that door and responded to it. And certainly didn't say anything about 'getting into your feels'. I think it goes to show that I am "equal opportunity" as you stated, but whether or not you like what I am saying dictates where you are going to claim my comments come from. You have nothing to say about the points I was making, but are instead responding with 'feels' and being offended at a different perspective. Maybe take a look in the mirror? Or not. Whatever works for you.

  31. His two latest combines were bought new from the John Deere dealer, GPS systems & all - $485,000 each. Past few years they have been switching from 8 & 12 wheel tractors to Trac drives. Fewer pounds per square inch on the ground & easier when it is a bit wet. Fuel costs but with GPS systems accurate to +- one inch there is little fuel wasted on double planting/disking and whatnot. Ammonia & round up ready seeds, spraying for pests & such do cost. Instead of spraying machinery he uses our local Crop duster. Costs a bit, gets it done quicker and has no sunk cost in machinery for it. The pilots love it. 2 miles of unobstructed spraying on some of his fields with no power lines or trees to worry about. Good tax planning with kids and grandkids factored in for the future. Nicest part of North Dakota farming and ranching is NO Corporate farms. Closely held family Corporation is the limit - living North Dakota resident owned. No Monsanto, Simplot or the big outfits. It is illegal for them to own the farms & ranches. The State works hard to protect the Family Farm. A bit South is a nice Bison ranch. Good herd, rolling hills & some nice lakes & ponds. Scenic & no power lines or towers. Movie and TV types come in to photograph them from time to time. Many of the farmers have College degrees. Some with Masters & a few PhD's in the mix. Plant geneticists and seed companies all over the place. Ever more productive crops. Machinery is so expensive and computerized now you almost need a college degree to run it. The local High School has both Boys and Girls wrestling teams, trap shooting and Olympic style rifle team. Small towns, not many people. Open and relaxing. Fargo is a few hours East of us. We're up near the Canadian border. Prairie pothole country with ducks & geese & moose & elk & deer and good fishing as well. Now if only UND would get a wrestling team and NDSU would catch fire with theirs.

  47. Isaiah Powe is an interesting one; he took a 25 - 2 record into NCAAs his true freshman year, went into the portal but then returned to Chattanooga. . . and followed it up w/ an 0-3 sophomore year. To be fair to him, his 3 losses were Mendez, Latona, and Eligh Rivera of Princeton; all in November and then he went MIA after that and back in the portal. Something seems off in all of that but there's also some real potential in the right room.
