I saw his stupid face and realized in that moment how annoyed I am about the Raneys.8 points

Stay classy Carter starocci. I bet Carl is very happy about the amazing young men he is molding into classy upstanding adults. now this. it’s interesting As he’s insulting prostitutes while defending his virtue signaling buddy for ….. slangin prostitutes?6 points

Exactly. This is why people are reacting. It’s not the same as lots of other athletes/celebrities that get caught. It’s because he has a holier than thou persona and speaks as an authority of Christian morality. It’s beyond hypocritical. And all the other guys in that camp giving him a free pass reveal their true colors too. It’s all a schtick.6 points

Seth posted a youtube video where he talks about Austin wrestling after the whistle at the end and its pretty awesome. Austin apologized and said "I'm sorry I'm trying to be better I just hate losing" I thought that was really raw and while its only a few words gives a really good perspective of Austin and I am sure a lot of these guys.5 points

After a careful review, going to go hard on the under as to PD3 making a good point (ever about anything). He's about as sharp as a bowling ball. As to Snyderman, feel bad generally for the situation and hope he and his family can heal. Feel bad generally that prostitution operations are out there in America. Weakening the social safety net will only make it worse in my opinion. Finally, I remain skeptical that wrestlers professing their profound religious convinctions as part of their training formula are particularly more virtuous and ethical in their everday lives and communities than others that do not make such professions.5 points

Although he can be somewhat controversial with his statements, Nashon is generally an interesting interview. His "retirement interview" with Bader was excellent if you can get through the talk of 'Nashon's parallel universe vs. Cory Clark's parallel universe' and a few other things. At the end, Bader asks him to talk about some of the guys he wrestled. Nashon brings up his respect for Austin Desanto and discusses this match that I linked. Nashon was up 8-0, saw a look in Desanto's eyes and knew Desanto was going to keep coming. At that point Nashon made the interesting decision to see what it would be like to try to match Desanto's pace. It is a great match to watch, but didn't work out well for Nashon. What an interesting decision to make (try to wrestle to your opponent's greatest strength), but I can certainly respect it.4 points

What if Person A was the same as Person B, just better at hiding it and going to great lengths to condone such hypocritical behavior?4 points

Reminds me of the Grajales Alton match where the build up was who was going to gas first. Let’s just say the crowd got their moneys worth.3 points

I think they like Latrell Schaffer as the future at 165. TJ Stewart at 197 is not a good idea in my opinion I think he's best suited for 184. 197 does seem like a hole they've had trouble filling.3 points

I don't believe so. If you listen to the audio the cop said charges are most likely a charge and a day class to learn about the industry and its impact on the actual women. If it was him seeking out a minor he'd be in serious trouble3 points

Sounds like Zhamalov is out for the year after getting another knee surgery. Sidakov is also rumored to miss world's this year due to injury, we could see the weakest 74kg field in a LONG time2 points

We like free things. Congress likes to give free things. We vote into Congress the people that will give us free things. What we fail to remember is that there is no such thing as free things. It is illusionary until the piper has to be paid. And the piper always has to be paid, one way or another. And it will be the poor people that wanted free things that will pay the most in pain and suffering. mspart2 points

I don’t see many people cheering and celebrating with glee about this. Mostly just rightfully calling out his hypocrisy. It’s overall not good for the sport of wrestling as a whole, an Olympic Gold medalist getting arrested, especially one that had been previously thought to be a model citizen.2 points

In your framing, does it matter how long Person A has been doing "something bad" without anyone knowing? Does that change your calculus? Or does it only matter what is on the surface and in the public eye?2 points
-
Person A behaves in a ‘good’ way for a long time. Then does something bad. People say woah. That’s bad. What happened? Some people revel, cheer and celebrate with glee at this person’s demise. Other people wait and see and are willing to give a second chance to person A. Person A perhaps makes good on this opportunity and a good chunk of the community recognizes the challenge and the attempt to do right going forward. Person B behaves in wack job way. Is accused of many bad things. Is considered unreliable. Given chance after chance after chance after chance. Makes people regret the time and energy invested in him. Has a persona of being a jackass. Then does something bad. People say - that fits. He is just that person. No 8th chance given. Still considered a jackass. Seems about right. The feigned outrage of a double standard is amusing.2 points

To be fair, you have been in favor of cutting military spending since forever. But to be fair the other direction, you have also been in favor of raising taxes to cut the deficit as your go to since forever. How about cuts to: Treasury Agriculture EPA Military Interior Commerce Education State Justice Labor HHS HUD Transportation Energy Veteran's Affairs Homeland Security. Each cabinet post could lose 10% and not be in any worse shape. Most could lose 20% and cover most of their costs. Are you willing to do this? If not, you are not serious about getting this under control. There may be a need for tax increases but you always cut spending first. mspart2 points

Zilmer dropping to 97KG. Maybe he figures Snyder might not wrestle at Final X or that he (Snyder) won't be focused enough to ensure a win.2 points

Yeah, a lot of us get annoyed when these guys twist the Bible into this whole 'God wants me to win and be successful!' thing. It's like their go-to message is 'I'm awesome because God made me that way!' Then, dude gets caught with his unit flappin' in the dank hotel room on camera tryin' to forkout that God-success money for some wild kink -- BAM! They whip out some Bible verses to try to shut you down. It makes you wonder, where are these folks when it comes to actually helping the people Jesus talked about – the poor, the humble, the homeless?2 points

I think PSU is also happy that their prestigious university has such a distinguished graduate who doesn't "know" the difference between "no" and "know" *sigh*2 points

FCA is fellowship of Christian athletes. Snyder had a whole ministry to traveling to put on various camps that taught children how to live a God honoring life and teach them wrestling. Hence the hypocrisy.2 points

I don't really know how it works -- you know this better than I do. I'm saying that for most of the country it's not a big deal, and we shouldn't hold wrestlers to higher standards than other athletes. The sport isn't big enough. For a good percentage of the the country's population this is a decriminalized act. Sure, places in the south and parts of Midwest this is a major crime (check out Louisiana!!!), but not most places. I'd hate to see his career end for this, as he's at the age where he's past prime and can't afford to take off. I'd like to see him back on the mat soon. The worst part for me was the conflict between this devout man and his real actions. But as far as I'm concerned, this is between him and his wife.2 points

Is it really a guess when I basically just said as much? No...I don't believe in it. I believe Men when they're young like to have sex(hell, probably when they're old as well). I believe you need to show some self restraint. And this isn't even self restraint, it's one thing if you have a GF, Fiancé, Wife and you get a little buzzed at a wedding or bar or whatever and you simply need to NOT sleep with someone, but this was him having to just not actively go seek it out. I think this is an excuse, a cop out and I think it's transparent. Every celebrity gets busted doing something stupid, they go and "get help." Charlie Sheen-THAT dude needed help. Tiger-He just needed to stop frequenting strip clubs on Tuesday Afternoons when the only requisite to employment was a minimum of one cesarian scar and a tattoo on your lower back. I'd be willing to bet 6 figures he's going to turn to God and his supportive Family, speak to his Pastor and give the cliched Christian Man who strayed as we're all sinners routine...and the rehab...well, I don't know, that'll likely be up to his sponsors. I don't think the guy is an awful guy. I think he probably thought he was untouchable, he got touched(not in the way he paid for) and now he'll hopefully change his ways. But no, I don't believe he's "addicted" to the cave of wonders any more than any man(well...with your obvious exceptions...Liberace, Lance Bass...my Great Uncle who my Grandma referred to as a "confirmed bachelor...though he died about 30 years ago, so times were different). But...aside from that subset of Men, I don't think he's particularly unique in this regard. He just made the bad decision and betrayed his family. And I do not believe it was because of an addition or disease.2 points
