  5. Nothing. He just talked about his injury (torn ACL), when it happened (sometime before collegiate duals, but was exacerbated at collegiate duals, what the rest of the season was like and how limited he was (tough and very), and talked about future plans to compete after he's fully recovered. It will be in Missouri, at least according to the interview. There was nothing "announced".

  9. After updating the scoring model I decided to looking into why the shifts that occurred had occurred. I was really focused on the seeds in the twenties and thirties as there was some expected smoothing out in that area. And sure enough, the #22, #23, #25, and #29 seeds all had their best ever performance. Though the #27, #31, and #32 had their worst performance ever. But what really jumped out was the #4, #5, and #6 seeds had their worst performance in the 16+ seed era. And it wasn't even close for the #5 seed. This year the 5 seed produced only 3 All-Americans. That is tied for the lowest total ever in the 8 AA era (1979 - 2025). In 1980, when there were also only 3 AA's from the #5 seed they finished second, fourth, and eighth. This year they finished fifth, fifth, and eighth. No #5 seed beat his seed. This year the #12 seed had more AA's (5) than the #5 seed (3). That had never happened before.

  19. He's a high level athlete with a steep growth trajectory if what I'm reading about him starting wrestling as a HS sophomore are true. That doesn't mean he's going to be a good or great D1 wrestler, but there's nice upside here for the Hawkeyes, and a perfect bridge to Ludington once Elam went to ISU.

  20. Good analogy and correct. Typically D2/3 guys are gonna struggle against D1. Endene did make the U23 team last year (albeit there were not any top D1 guys in the field) so he is not your typical D2 champ.

  22. It depends on the sport, but D3 is often stronger than D2 as there are far more D3 programs (which don't require scholarships), and many of those D3 schools have higher academics than the D2 schools. Wrestling specific I would say D2 and D3 are pretty inseparable and a dual of National Champs vs National Champs would be very close. Edit: just realized replied to the wrong comment. Oh well

  23. Your desires on this issue don't matter That's not how the republic was structured to operate. It sounds like you want to change the entire way the government operates, which is fine, but doesn't just happen because one guy won an election. That's the whole point. We don't have a king, you didn't elect a king. At least, theoretically.

  31. Come on...don't be obtuse...just because they FINALLY got labeled a terrorist organization doesn't mean they weren't terrorizing us before. I just don't get the endless support for violent gang members that if they met you wouldn't care less if you supported them or not, they'd more than likely rob you, or worse, without blinking an eye. Yet you try and normalize them and their behavior by your rhetoric...why do you do that...seriously?? Is it because it is the "in thing to do" for D's?? So ridiculous.

  32. I agree...regardless of the letter after your name people should be held accountable for their actions...I'll wait for you to hold this same standard to a D...and there have been plenty of times a D has done similar things with their electronic devices and you and your ilk were silent or defended the person.

  33. 12 weights is over kill. 9 or 10 is good. Maybe keep them the same but get rid of 92 and adjust 86 and 97 accordingly. As for GR, credit to UWW. No clue how a unpopular sport with no women's division continues to survive in the olympics. The only sport in the games that women can not participate in. I'd be interested if anyone can shed some light on this. Unfortunately I think that if/when it finally does get cut, the weights wont go to FS, but to beach wrestling.

  38. I wrestled D2. Graduated in early 90s. I had a teammate qualify for the d1 tourney. Another guy, my roommate was 5th in D2 and had multiple wins over qualifiers including splitting with a R12 guy, including a win by major in their last meeting as seniors. A lot has changed in 30 years. The D1s are better at recruiting and don't miss on as many guys. The d1 training and coaching is better than it was, I think. Also the lower divisions don't get to challenge themselves as much against the big boys anymore. My roommate had a much closer match against the r12 guy than he thought it would be in their first meeting. That gave him a lot of confidence. When they met each other again less than a month later, my roommate took it to him and even turned the guy. I'm not sure how much that could happen these days.I mean, I was maybe above average d2 and I would hold d1 qualifiers/top 20 types to a regular decision if I had a decent match.

  42. The discussion of jacked wrestlers who look 3 weight classes heavier starts and stops with Ryan Deakin. A friend who attended some Stanford duals told me that Deakin is visually bigger than Pat Brucki, who was a jacked 197 lb. multi-AA. It defies logic how Deakin was a 157 lb. wrestler. He would've been big and jacked at 174. Never seen anything like him.

  43. Bulgaria are the ogs of mercenary wrestling. They were using transfers all the way back in the 90s, before it was cool. Soviet developed Nazaryan, Mureiko, were winning medals for them way back. I think it was the wrong way of trying to save a dying wrestling power and the consequences of those choices are still with them today. The rising tide did not lift all, ethnic Bulgarians are not winning medals like in the days of their fathers and grandfathers. I could imagine the frustration of the local Bulgarians. Foreign coaches, training foreign athletes, and everyone else left out in the cold with a vague promise that it will trickle down eventually. And then for all these years of trainers and high level athletes brought in; thirty years of this process culminates in two foreigners and no ethnic Bulgarians winning golds at the most recent olympics.
