A better question might be what’s the over under on how many of those Nebraska wins? I feel like at 0.5 more people take Nebraska but at 1.5 more people probably take PSU3 points

As a non lawyer, I don't speak lawyer. I do depend on those that do to explain things to me. If you find fault with Turley's reasoning, that's fine, but he gives his reasoning unlike others that don't. I have already given my opinion based on Smith's use of the term insurrection in the document when the DOJ has not tried anyone on that charge. It seems incongruent to claim an event was an insurrection and not prosecute any cases on that basis. It stretches credulity. mspart2 points

It was a response to us working with the belief that British Intelligence was correct in their assessment that Iran had become controlled by the Soviet Union. The British were the main antagonizers in the lead up to the coup and the US followed. There is this false historical narrative especially from the left that the US is always the boogey man in the room2 points

Over rated in your opinion. Ohio state fans in general are great and passionate. Cleveland has three professional teams and you won’t find many more passionate fans like browns fans with how bad they’ve been for how long.2 points

A headline can be a little inflammatory and no one will panic. "Ono is one of the best wrestlers on earth right now", "Which Penn State Wrestlers COULD be upset on friday". If you want clicks how about some hot takes and not a bunch of lame qualifications for every statement. If you think I'm a nit picky jerk fine, unfortunately I'm permanently annoyed our most prolific media outlet produces such lame content.1 point

Not just you, I avoid podcasts like the plague. I spend enough of my life listening to people talk that I'm not eager to add to it. I checked it out only bc of this thread. That said, they did have some interesting stories toward the last third. (Other parts of it are a bit insufferable.)1 point

I couldn't disagree more. The hot take sports media is the worst of all. People make claims just to create discussion, without even believing what they are saying. I can't watch a lot of sports shows because of this. I also feel duped and irritated when I see a video or article with a clickbaity title and then after several minutes reading/watching I realize that I just wasted my time because the content did not at all accomplish what the title suggested. I prefer the qualifiers and the solid, rational, reasonable takes that follow. I don't need disingenuous titles and takes to catch my interest, but that's just my opinion. I don't really understand the overwhelming disgust for Flo that so many people harbor. They're the best thing that has ever happened for fans of wrestling. Sure, there have been some hiccups (some bigger than others along the way), but when I was in high school and Flo started growing, it was the first time I was able to watch matches from Ironman, CKLV, Southern Scuffle, etc. Before that, all I knew were youtube videos of old NCAA matches and the NCAA Finals once a year.1 point

I don’t care what the topic, using this as some kind of form of credibility is ultimate humor. Imagine ‘citing’ the very staff of the company that had to pay Billions because “…yeah, we lie, so what, don’t call us news”. Good god we are that lost.1 point

Declining vs what? Winning the title? Just in the wrestlestat era they got 2nd in 2016 and 3rd in 2014, 2017, 2019, and 2021. It was really just the last few years that they dropped off.1 point

1) Where did I refute this? Fact, British intelligence convinced the US the Soviets were making inroads 2) Where did I refute this? Did the British not convince the US the Soviets were making significant inroads? 3) The coup was not the first domino. The history of Iran, like all history, was far messier than just pointing to one moment as the cause. Which leads me to my final point. No one, and I mean no one actually has a full understanding of why we have this current mess. Israel, the PLO, Iran, the US, Britain all have made mistakes. But to assign blame to one party is beneath intelligence1 point

Eh, some folks enjoy speculating more than tracking down information. All good, this is low stakes stuff. Coleman himself said he wasn’t promised the job, that it was an opportunity to coach with his mentor, plus an opportunity to move back to a place he and his wife both love, and that it could give him a leg up in the hiring process depending on how the season went. It was never “come coach here and take my job”. I’ve been following every piece of Coleman news and he said all of those things several times.1 point

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/pete-hegseth-drinking_n_67869490e4b0d06aefb76db1 Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) first confronted Hegseth, a former Fox News host and Army veteran, about allegations he had a drinking problem. “I have read multiple reports of your regularly being drunk at work, including by people who worked with you at Fox News,” Hirono said. “Senator, those are multiple false anonymous reports peddled by NBC News that run directly contradictory to the dozens of men and women at Fox News Channel who I worked with and said they never saw that,” Hegseth said. Looks like it is a case of she said he said. Hegseth is calling bull on the "reports" and he was under oath while doing so. So mush for the "documented and current drinking issues" concern. msaprt1 point

I can assure you, Jack Smith is not a straight shooter. Turley is, to a fault. It would be my preference to read opinions of lawyers who have taken cases before the Supreme Court and won, not one who has been rejected unanimously.1 point

The situation is crazy when citizen legislators vote against the interests of the citizens. What is in the interest of the citizens to keep illegal alien felons in the country? mspart1 point
-
Hence the general mistrust of the DOJ among voters today. The DOJ/FBI have lied over and over again to the courts and the people. There is no trust anymore in the DOJ. Is Jack Smith any different? Maybe he's a straight shooter, but he got convictions that were later overturned and used extrordinary means to secure those convictions. Jonathan Turley called this out and predicted Smith's next move with incredible accuracy as noted in my post above. mspart1 point

Nothing to do with Pete other than Walz was running for a position that is constitutionally higher up the ladder than what Pete has been nominated for. So you have a problem with Pete but not clod Walz who are both accused of the same thing. Now there is great look at D is good, R is bad. mspart1 point

The biggest complaint seems to be that he worked at Fox, followed by: he was nominated byTrump. Where were all the complaints about alcohol issues when the beloved "Coach Walz" was running? Verifiable alcohol issues, not anonymous accusations.1 point

lol. does the government own you or something? they 1) cut 17m in funding 2) didn't use 7b allotted for improvements 3) didn't have the reservoir filled 4) cut forest management and you're dying on the hill that 'stuff happens and nothing could have been done better and there's no one to blame' keep going. this is incredible.1 point

Don't put too much stock in this as it only covers two 5-year periods (so call it weak evidence), but it occurred to me last night that we have a bit of a natural experiment. The 33 seed era is now 5 years old and the 16 seed era only lasted 5 years. So I thought I would take a look at what the expansion from 16 seeds to 33 seeds has meant. In theory, if seeding is accurate, then going from 16 to 33 would have different impacts on different ranges of seeds. Concentrating on the first round: In a 33 seed bracket the top 8 seeds face seeds 25 - 32 (or 33). In a 16 seed bracket the top 8 seeds may get anyone in the 17 - 33 range. So seeding all should be beneficial to the top 8. In a 33 seed bracket the 9 - 16 seeds face seeds 17 - 24. In a 16 seed bracket the 9 - 16 seeds may get anyone in the 17 - 33 range. So seeding all would be harmful to the 9 - 16 seeds. In a 33 seed bracket the bottom 16/17 seeds face the top 16 seeds. In a 16 seed bracket the bottom 17 seeds may get anyone in the 1 - 33 range (other than themselves). So seeding all would be harmful to the bottom 17. And that is what the results show. The top 8 seeds have performed better in the 33 seed era, while the next 8 seeds have performed worse, and the bottom 17 have performed worse. So, good job seeding committee.1 point

Good on the athletes for getting paid, but this is all a side effect of the third party pay-for-play system we're operating in. Contracts and salaries could fix this particular phenomenon. Unfortunate reality of the new era that an athlete can effectively hold out at any time of their own choosing.1 point
