i was shocked watching UFC FIGHT Pass on Sunday....Quality of video was great and throw in Shane Sparks as announcer at 2.99 per month its well worth it. Much different then watching a flo broadcast that you never know if its going to stream and if they have sound2 points

Yeah, Joel Bauman got a raw deal out of all of that. Now it's pretty much "give them another year" for something as much as a hangnail. I think the lost year was one thing that really messed it all up. Legit Olympic redshirts were supposed to be monitored better, because in the past, guys would take them and never show up for something as easy as the NYAC. Then it became a bit more stringent, then lawsuits and 9th-year tight ends started popping up. For Gable, he did win a World Team Trials in those two years, so he was qualified for the Olympic Trials by actual competition. Ferrari, yeah, not so much on him there TBH. It'll be Gable's fourth chance to wrestle at the NCAAs. So that's probably what gives me less problem with this than some of the other moves going around.2 points

125. Ramazan Attasauov v. Noah Surtin. To paraphrase what Hiram Roth said to Michael Corleone: If Ramazan shows up at weight, I know we have a 125 pounder. If he doesn't, I know we don't. I expect Riley against Walker based on what the coaches have said. The ILLINI are 0-3 in duals at this weight. File under people grow differently: Caelan Riley beat Missouri's 165er Cameron Steed in the 17u Nationals five years ago at 106 pounds. ILL-0; MIZZ-3. 133. Lucas Byrd v. Kaden Moore. The Tiger is a tough kid, but he medical forfeited his last match at the Tiger Style Invite, then lost to UNC's McGonagle 0-3. Lucas gets the train started, as the ILLINI need to win these lower weights. ILL-3; MIZZ-3. 141. Danny Pucino v. Josh Edmond. My Upset Special! Edmond won 10-5 in last year's dual, but Pucino is trending up, while Edmond is trending down. ILL-6; MIZZ-3. 149. Kannon Webster v. Logan Gioffre. What was a pretty close match last season is now a major decision or close to it. ILL-9; MIZZ-3. 157. Jason Kraisser v. James Conway. The Tiger is 0-7 in duals. Make that 0-8. ILL-12; MIZZ-3. 165. Braeden Scoles v. Cam Steed. To me, this is the most intriguing match in the dual. Both are undefeated big-boarder 4x state champion prospects. Scoles is 6-0 and 100% bonus. Steed is 5-0 with 80% bonus. ILL-15; MIZZ-3 174. Danny Braunagel v. Keegan The Tool. I call him "The Tool" because everybody can't like Keegan. That's un-American! Anyway, very close match two years ago at the Tiger Style Invite until late in the third period when Keegan got the pinfall. ILL-15; MIZZ-7. 184. Edmond Ruth v. Colton Hawks. This could be the most exciting match of the dual. Ruth is majoring in Film and loves drama. He's 10-2 in overtime matches in his career. Hawks can shoot from distance but also likes to tie up. Will he tie up with Ruth? Going with clutch Edmond to win. ILL-18; MIZZ-7. 197. Zac Braunagel v. Aeoden Sinclair. This was going to be the headline match but Rocky Elam is reportedly a no show. He didn't wrestle until December last year. Sinclair is another blue chipper, but Zac won Fargo and Pan Ams and all those state championships, too. Plus, he's a handfighting legend. ILL-21; MIZZ-7. 285. Luke Luffman v. Seth Nitzel. I see Nitzel as a smaller version of Zach Elam or Lucas Davison. I think Luuuuke has speed, weight, agility, flexibility and experience advantages. Nitzel may be stronger, but he'll have to prove that on the mat. ILL-24; MIZZ-7. Missouri has real chances to win at 141 (where they're the paper favorite), 165 and 184. If the Tigers win all three, that would make it MIZZ-16, ILL-15. Wrestlestat.com has the Tigers winning 19-13, but that includes Rocky Elam wrestling and Seth Nitzel beating Luke Luffman. On December 7, we are more likely to see the full ILLINI and Missouri lineups at the Cougar Clash. Less than 100 tickets remain for this Dinner/Entertainment/Wrestling event.1 point

The only downside is the lower frequency they have duals and tournaments. But when they do, they are well executed and good value. ESPN+ - good value at 11.99 per month and a large volume of mostly duals (with a few tournaments sprinkled in), but often poorly executed (unclear scores, no riding time clocks, fixed camera that misses side mat action, etc) BTN+ - 12.99 a month and fewer matches than ESPN+, but the matches are big ten schools so I suppose they have more draw for some people. Quality here is simliar to ESPN+ - they can bring in a good team for a big dual though. Smaller duals will not get that attention Flo - 29.99 per month - content volume toward the higher end, more tournament driven, but does have select duals. Worse value for ongoing streams, but they have the best stored library of their old content if you wanted to go back and see recorded duals or tournaments from years past. They have a lot of things I don't use as well, so the value may be there for some folks. I am mostly here for the live matches/tournaments Rokfin - 14.99 per month and then sometimes you need to pay extra for the bigger tournaments. I find the platform difficult to navigate and this is the only one I'm not subscribing to here at the moment. And then there are the channels that only show up through basic cable or direct TV like ACCNX and the standard Big Ten channel (not Big Ten Plus). This is the worst overall value for wrestling since it is probably 70 dollars a month and doesn't include much. There are a few schools who require a PPV for their own home duals like North Dakota State, Little Rock, and a few others I'm forgetting.1 point

I have a bit differently 125- Walker over Riley MIZZ-3 ILL-0 133- Byrd Major over Moore ILL-4 MIZZ-3 141- Edmond Over Pucino (Remember his two loses are against a National Champ and 2x AA) Mizz-6 ILL-4 149- Webster over Gioffre Ill-7 MIZZ-6 157- Kraisser over Conway ILL-10 MIZZ-6 (But i think this is a toss up. Conway continues to have brutal schedule. He has beaten people Kraisser has lost to in the past. I would not be surprised if Conway won) 165- Steed over Scoles ILL-10 MIZZ-9 (This is also a toss up) 174- O'Toole Major over Dan Braunagel MIZZ-13 ILL-10 184- Hawks over Ruth MIZZ-16 ILL-10 197- Zach Braunagel over Sinclair MIZZ-16 ILL-13 285- Luffman over Nitzel MIZZ-16 ILL-16 It will come down to criteria. But because Byrd racks up Points I think Illinois wins on criteria.1 point

Don't think I'd categorize the Braunagel/O'Toole in '22 as a "very close match" before the fall. Even if Braunagel fought off the pin it would have been 10-2. That being said, I don't like the way Mizzou matches up vs Ill, particularly if Surtain and Elam are out. Flip a coin for this dual.1 point

Thank you for replying, Jon. I 100% agree with both of your points. There is zero doubt that Steveson has a significantly better resume than Ferrari. And the situations are similar, but different. But I am arguing Steveson vs his field and Ferrari vs his field, rather than Steveson vs Ferrari. At the same time that Steveson is significantly more accomplished than Ferrari, Steveson's field is also significantly more accomplished than Ferrari's. And Ferrari is 2-0 against the presumptive #1 in his field. I am also arguing that you should not discount Ferrari's achievements because of their age if you do not do the same with Steveson. As for their respective fields you should not effectively give more credit to Ferrari's field for having participated in two or more tournaments without also giving more credit to Steveson's field which has one champion in it. Don't get me wrong, this is similar to a high school debate. Someone gets assigned the pro and someone gets assigned the con. I am simply making the con argument because someone asked the question about Alirez vs Mendez. I do not have strong feelings either way, but I do enjoy the debate. I also obviously enjoy that you do these rankings, given how much I create data off of them. So thank you for that. And finally, I do not get too emotionally invested in the rankings because in the end it all gets settled rather definitively and satisfactorily.1 point

IMO AJ Ferrari's resume is not comparable to Gable Steveson's. Gable Steveson Wins over: #1 Kerkvliet #2 Hendrickson #7 Ghadiali #9 Schultz #10 Luffman NCAA finishes - 1st, 1st, 3rd Missed 2 NCAA Tournaments Lost to Anthony Cassar - NCAA Champion Won 2 Hodge Trophies AJ Ferrari Wins over #1 Buchanan #10 Novak NCAA finish - 1st Missed 3 NCAA Tournaments Lost to Noah Adams - 3X NCAA Qualifier, never AAd Gable has 3 full seasons of data and more head-to-head wins over the current field than AJ. It's a similar situation but it's certainly not the same.1 point

@red viking maybe you'd get more consensus if you didn't start off by calling people idiots. I agree with your overall assessment but why be a jerk about it. Term limits wouldn't fix that. The parties will just recycle/stack preferred candidates. And be happy that you can vote who represents you in the Senate. It was an appointed position up until 1913. I say this with sincerity. If you want to make a change on who represents you then get involved and be vocal during the process.1 point

I'd be surprised if he's getting any money apart from a break on tuition. The kid just lost his starting spot to someone a little better than him, a 197lber who couldn't make 197 anymore. I know tons of folks who make more than 200k annually. Just a data point but it’s more than a senator makes. Based on some job titles I’ve seen from others in this forum many others here do too….. net worth pelosi D 253 million Romney R 234 million mark Warner D 246m Dan Goldman D 183m Darrel Issa R 243m Shyte Chelsey Clinton is worth about 50 million! Nepotism Much? no one I know. No one making 200k a year is worth 200+ million usd. The level of corruption, insider trading, and just pure criminal activity is astronomical. term limits are needed! They keep themselves in office. The power, corruption, and influence they wield isn’t measurable. There is a 100% chance all of these people are all on the take. The list is so long I stopped typing as I know there is close to a 0% chance people read links or watch vids that are posted. (See link below) notice there are Ds and Rs on that list…… Note there are tons more. #100 on this list is worth 10 million dollars…. That’s crazy I never even heard of her! Lisa blunt Rochester D-NY house rep. How are there 100 government sen/house people worth 8 figures. https://www.quiverquant.com/congress-live-net-worth/1 point

Does the ufc fund boxing or judo or bjj or backyard barn animal fighting? i not catching whey there is the idea that they are obligated in any way to support wrestling or any other fighting style….. other than this is a wrestling board. (As pointed out above. This year two of them supporting….). Is that not enough? maybe the beef is really with the wrestlers not giving back? I’m sure some do. Some don’t. Again…. We’re does the “obligation” come from?1 point

Speaking of index funds ( @Wrestleknownothing, didn't know that about your background - interesting!), I don't think it's necessarily helpful for individuals in the wrestling world (or any other part of the world) to dwell too much on how they measure against some external benchmark. More useful to measure yourself on where you want to be. It's cool to hear about everyone's path at age 25, but not sure how pertinent it is to Gable (or anyone else for that matter) I'm not taking a shot at you WKN. I was just saying generally I don't like having a consensus view on what growing up looks like (as long we we are treating people with respect). Ambition comes in all shapes and sizes.1 point

Fair enough brother, I can't claim to have inside intel on how the NIL decisions are made. In general though, I do like the idea of even the elite kids finishing out their high school years. Even if it delays their wrestling development, the delay is very slight, and is offset IMO by the benefit of getting to live a normal life of a normal high school kid. I worry that that leaving high school early to focus on wrestling may cause premature burnout if your life is all wrestling, all the time.1 point

Michael and Jeff Shaara, Historical fiction. All of their American Revolution, Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korean War books. Great books. I've read plenty of Civil War books that are only history and they get kind of dry after awhile. I read constantly. Mostly war history, biographies/autobiographies, from Teddy Roosevelt to Jerry Garcia. The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara is where I began thirty years ago. If I have to choose one book to recommend, it's this one.1 point
