  1. You're assuming they aren't. I don't have any reason to believe they're just sitting back and waiting for bids to come in. Based on how I've seen Anthony Holman bust his ass to make the D1 wrestling championships awesome, I don't doubt for a second he (and his staff) is putting in the time to encourage new places to bid. Lots of moving parts and the venues we typically get are dealing with NBA and NHL tenants, college hoops postseason tournaments AND the general other stuff these venues book.

  2. So far Intermat, Flo, and Wrestlestat have published their pre-season rankings. Intermat has Ferrari #1 at 197 Flo has him #4 behind Stephen Buchannan, Jacob Cardenas, and Rocky Elam, but ahead of Stephen Little (UALR), Isaiah Salazar (Minn), Michael Beard (Lehigh), and Silas Allred (Neb). Wrestlestat has him #67 behind a list too long to type. I think putting him #1 is madness. Sure he has a national title, but I keep going back to my firmly held belief that no one gets better at wrestling by not wrestling. And the one time we saw him wrestle in the past several years he looked like a blood round guy, at best. If it was me, I have to rank him just outside the top 8. He is somewhere between a freshman with no college results and no initial ranking, and someone with recent results I can lean on to make an informed ranking decision. Hilariously, Intermat made his photo black and white because he is in an OSU singlet, but maybe it was an unintentional statement about how long ago that photo was taken.

  4. Just looking at the timing of this. It's really bad. One of the worst Hurricanes just hit a large portion of our country causing well over 100 billion dollars of damage. It's been a week now and it's really bad. You have a huge mess in the middle east. With a much larger war possibly going to break out. You have the entire country struggling from the high inflation with no end in sight. Then you have the election in 30 days. So, you a large union going on strike wanting a 77% raise over 6 years. Thats a 12% per raise per year. They make around 81,000 per year with lots of overtime available. That puts them over 100,000 a year. the crane operators with overtime are at 300,0000 a year. If the strike lasts more than a few days most Americans will not be very supportive. The strike will make inflation worse. Then the union does not want to allow any automation. That I think will be a huge problem for them. They will need to compromise on that. This isn't 1940 anymore. Every industry has had to automate over the last 80 years in order to stay competitive. Most of all the ports in the world have already automated their ports. This is not a good time to strike with unreasonable demands.

  5. Imagine during the Industrial Revolution….. Business owner: do you know who Eli Whitney is? Union backing liberal: nope Business owner: he invented the cotton gin It greatly improved the efficiency of cotton processing. It will significantly boost the textile industry Union liberal: nah That sounds like terrible idea. Tech advances are bad for workers we can’t use that. imagine if we had that attitude for steam engines, or spinning Jenny’s or the telegraph. old blue haired union liberal shaking hands at clouds: The telegraph!!!! Do you know what that would do to the workers in the pony express or the mail carriers!!!!!!!!

  6. Interesting spelling. Is that the original cyrillic? Infatuated? No so much, but let me explain: Peanut was commenting on how accomplished Sad is at such a young AGE. I'm basically saying: Not so fast, he is a documented AGE cheater. Won cadets and was 19-20 when doing so? This takes away nothing from his senior level accomplishments, but his does show that his window may be closing sooner rather than later, because they lied about his true AGE. The recent injuries, the Taz loss, and a 10-7 win over a guy whom Cardenas beat last year may indicate that his AGE may be causing a decline. Got it?

  8. The article states the opposite. It says you only need to satisfy one element. And by the metrics shared in the article, they do satisfy number 2. If it were all elements then 10 of the 14 B1G schools fail, because they fail the first test.

  11. ... when asked whether he would back Israel striking Iranian nuclear sites as it has long threatened, Biden told reporters, "The answer is no." Sorta like don't. Biden says it should be "proportional." Sounds like Isreal should launch 180 missiles at Iran. If say a dozen of em happen to hit nuclear sites ... well thats just how they fall.

  17. That wasn't Jake Andrews - pretty sure that was Luke Smith drilling with him. Luke was a 125# in college. I think he was just getting in some drilling - not many people in the room at the time he was in there and he did say a full workout was later.

  19. Cincy?!? A city that isn’t central, has an even smaller airport than KC, and isn’t a great tourist destination…lol what a terrible suggestion. What venue would you suggest in Cincinnati? Indianapolis is in the same area and a much better host. Your ideas are all great if your goal is to kill the sport. The event sells out no matter what. Why would the cities mentioned having the “hottest”(highest resale prices) tickets be good for anyone other than resellers? If we want the sport to stick around long term, we need exposure in new places. Holding it in the NE every year would make it even more niche and shorten its lifespan.

  20. Barring something unknown like Clark going up to 149, I would be shocked to see Coates try and drop to 141 and even then I doubt he could make it. He wrestled 149 unattached at multiple events last year and looked big.

  22. Columbia just hired Greg Bulsak as an Assistant Coach. Bulsak was an All American at 197 for Rutgers. That's quite a staff at Columbia: Pritzlaff 2- Time National Champ and World Bronze Medalist, Rivera 4-Time All American, World Silver Medalist and Olympic Bronze Medalist, Buxton member of the Hall of Fame who coached 12 national champs and 41 All Americans, and 1-Time All American Bulsak. Over the next few years, it will be interesting to see their recruiting results. Clearly an All Star coaching staff

  23. I just read where the West Coast Union got a six year contract with a 32% raise so i feel like what they are offering the East Coast union is reasonable. They are offering to increase wages by 50% and to triple employer contributions to retirement. In comparison to the West Coast Union I think it's beyond reasonable unless there is something I am missing.

  24. He is a great wrestler regardless of his age, works as hard as anyone both on and off the mat. Is the decision thing a tad annoying? Sure, but it most certainly skyrocketed his engagement on social media. That will 100% be a leverage point for any NIL college deal he gets on top of whatever he is already earning. The kid is on track if he allocates his money properly to probably be set for life by the time he is done in college, and I certainly will not begrudge him for that.

  32. I don't think it is the IOC as much as it is the USOC and NBC deals. When we hold olympic trials, USAWrestling has to operate, in the relative aspects, the same as if it were the Olympic Games, because the trials are part of the olympic process. I believe of anyone this would fall on NBC.

  35. Yes, he was voted in through an election victory in 2020. He was going to run again, but it became blatantly obvious that he should not, so he is not. There is another old, incoherent, babbling convicted criminal who is blatantly obvious should not be running again, but the other side is too busy licking balls. It would be good for the other side to see the light, get rid of the guy so conservatives can start winning more elections again, and conservative policy can start getting on the board again. I wish republicans would start looking more inward instead of this odd obsession with 'owning the libs'. Anyone who knows anything about performance knows that one of the major keys to success is focusing within, on what you can control. But.....those balls must be pretty tasty. And while Republicans are getting their licks in, Democrats are winning elections and getting liberal policy through...... But hey, keep up the good work. It's proven mighty successful......right?

  38. I thought it was weird I'd never seen John Smith's complete FS stats/match records. Same goes for the other US GOATs. Tom Brands, Dan Gable, Cael Sanderson, etc. Turns out they didn't exist. Until today. I created a database with stats/match records for all "pro" wrestlers. Idk if anyone cares, but I thought it was cool. You can check out John Smith's record here: https://wrestlingrecords.com/wrestler/john-smith/

  41. I guess when the moderators say they will not fact check and that is up to the debaters, and they enty sneak in fact checking that is demostrably wrong, that is a problem. That is why Vance felt it necessary to correct the moderator on on the Springfield - Haitian issue. She got it wrong. He had it right. But in putting it to her, they turned the mics off. Again, not what the moderators were supposed to do. They initiated that and talked over Vance continually even after he pointed out that they broke the debate rules. They were had and didn't ant any of it. The moderators were in the wrong on that one. mspart
