  1. Dynasties tend to attract very casual fan bases I'm afraid. Living in central PA and having been at the trials I can attest that at least the people around me were not very informed compared to a normal wrestling fan. And there are a lot of people that cult follow psu sports that do not care about wrestling just that psu is good at it. I think that part of the fanbase sucks and unfortunately represents a large part of it.

  3. No I’m suggesting some of the most successful businessmen in the history of the planet had a large percentage of failures but the world doesn’t focus on them.

  4. Top business failure statistics 18.4% fail within the first year 49.7% fail within the first 5 years 65.6% fail within the first 10 years Only 25% make it beyond 15 years Successful entrepreneurs fail a lot along their way. Some people/media choose to search for the failures among the successes.

  7. You keep framing in a way as if the only people supporting the retainment of the Lee statue at the awful Unite the Right rally were neo nazis and white nationalists. This is false. Most of them were but not all, including locals and heritage/history preservationists. There were also militia groups there for reasons other than race reasons. A lot of nuts IMO. You leave out that he condemned neo nazis and white nationalists repeatedly, at different times, and directly in the 'fine people' discussion. Read it fully yourself: https://www.politico.com/story/2017/08/15/full-text-trump-comments-white-supremacists-alt-left-transcript-241662 Another spin job is to say that Trump called Antifa as very fine people. Why isn't it being spun this way? No. He said that Antifa, Neo Nazis, White Nationalists, extremists committing violence are bad. But he also said there there were people on the right and left of this issue at the rally who were peaceful and fine.

  13. It’s not so much some companies he has owned that have gone bankrupt that turns me off, it’s more…..multiple cases of companies he has bankrupted, combined with multiple cases of unpaid debt he refuses to pay, combined with multiple cases of criminal fraud he has committed…combined with so many other things. Do I think the government should be run like a business? No. It’s not a business, it’s a society. Do I think some economic/financial aspects of the government should include some business like characteristics…yes.

  15. This is how any financial institution should be run. Since the Fed doesn't make money, it has a different metric. Will this expenditure realize the gain wanted? If not, the money should not be spent. If so, is the gain worth the money spent? There are countless government programs that do not meet the first test and certainly don't meet the second. mspart

  16. Regarding the thread title: Let's see. Who has been involved in the last 3 assassination attempts? Left leaning whack jobs. This does not include the broken up conspiracy of an agent of Iran recruiting a hit squad just before Trump received a damaged ear. Who were the targets of said attempts: Steve Scalise, Trump, Trump. Republicans all. I think this lends credence to the thread title. mspart

  17. Yep - agree 100%!! Super 32 has risen to the top IMO as well. I know out West you will see a fair amount of coaches at Doc B and the CA state tournament - which obviously is more of a regional thing.

  18. My question for Rash is: Retire to do what? As far as I can tell, his life has been devoted to wrestling since ever. He's had success since ever. And, he's still better than all but a handful of people in the world. Most importantly, it sounds like he doesn't want to hang up the boots. (This last bit is really the only thing that matters . . . unless he has obligations that wrestling would interfere with.) Imagine if my dad was convinced he had to sell his herd bc he wasn't Charlie Goodnight. Imagine if Na-Kel Smith called it quits bc he wasn't Tyshawn Jones. Or ... more to the point ... Don't most of us get up everyday knowing we aren't the absolute best at what we do but still manage to find something satisfying about out lives, something satisfying enough to make us get up the next day and do it again?

  19. FOMO. I have a young (and poor early 20s) niece who spent her last dollars for Taylor Swift tickets rather than her medical expenses. Reckless spending is a coping mechanism... Regardless of how you manage your spending, there are trade-offs to maintain that current life style. For me, paying the higher costs for the status quo means delaying my retirement plans. Jews by choice may have been converted by Rabbis of any denomination. Jews by birth qualify if the following conditions are all met: One of their birth parents or adoptive parents is Jewish. They consider themselves to be Jewish. They do not identify as being a member of another religion. Other circumstances deserving of consideration will be determined by the Eligibility Committee.

  27. Fans always get progressively worse the more you win. I root for a professional team that has won a couple of titles after a long period of being bad. The fan base is insufferable and absolutely believes they are entitled to winning everything. It is human nature. Win enough and your fans get awful (or at least a large chunk of them).

  28. Have there been many other examples of Penn St. fans being rude and booing? In their defense it wasn't like they were just booing Burroughs because he was beating their guy, but it was a chippy match (yes I know Mess initiated some of it) and they had a reason (not that I agree with it). But if this is common thing then maybe it is warranted to call their fan base out. But it sounds like sour grapes by some on here because they beat the crap out of their team every year. I always thought they were a professional program under Cael. Way more so than Iowa...even though I do enjoy watching Iowa and Penn St. As for all that other crap about Penn St. being good for wrestling...of course they are good for wrestling, just as Iowa is, Iowa St. is, Oklahoma St. is, etc. Can't fault them for figuring out the $$ and the NIL thing before others have.

  34. By Coping Mechanism do you mean NOT COPING? A coping mechanism would be getting a second job to pay for medical needs, or changing lifestyle (diet, exercise, sleep) to minimize negative medical outcomes if this is related to influencable body chemistry or composition. Splurging is not coping. Splurging, bingeing, shooting up, toking, etc is the deferment of coping.

  35. I understand it's hard to imagine it, I agree. I also understand that if the plan was 174lbs for him this year, he wouldn't have weighed 157.1 - 165.0 during his Alpha Certification.

  36. There are only 4 schools who have any possibility of getting him on their team. Penn State. Best program in the country. Ohio State. 2 hours from his home. Great relationship with the staff and wrestlers. Also, they have an OTC. Iowa. Proven quality program. Lots of money for NIL via some call him the Slum Lord. Oklahoma State. Proven quality program. David Taylor. Lots of money for NIL. My bet he goes to Penn State. Best program in the country. My wish is Ohio State. Only 2 hours from his home. Mom can easily get to all of his matches. Maybe we can also get his brother from Purdue.

  41. For his Alpha Certification the weight class he weighed in at was 165lbs. What that means is that he weighed in between 157.1 - 165.0. See above. He was legitimately already weighinf 165.0 or less whenever Penn State did their Alpha Certifications.
