Entries have been published, and we can now know the prospective seeds from UWW's rankings for the 57kg and 65kg weights that Spencer Lee and Zain Retherford will endeavor to qualify. At 57, the potential seeds are among the clear favorites, so it's nice to see them separated. But 65 is a joke built on a broken ranking/seeding system, where none of the 4 seeds would be considered a favorite for one of the 3 available slots. Because only 4 are seeded and the rest of the bracket is random, these undeserving seeds leave open the possibility for what we've seen each of the last 2 cycles at 65kg at this event: Our guy in a loaded bracket half and someone undeserving qualifying from the other half. 57kg: 1) Aman, INDIA 2) Dingashvili, GEORGIA 3) Zandanbud, MONGOLIA 4) ?? (no other entrants ranked in UWW published Top 20) 65kg: 1) Sacultan, MOLDOVA 2) Finesilver, ISRAEL 3) Leutert, SWITZERLAND 4) Kudiev, TAJIKISTAN In Greco at 77kg, Kamal Bey should get a seed. Roberts and Coleman won't be seeded. Based on published seeding points/rankings: 1) #5 Gutu, MOLDOVA 2) #6 Lomadze, GEORGIA 3) #11 Kamal Bey, USA 4) #12 Levai, HUNGARY Kamal had a 2023 victory over Levai, 7-3, and a loss to Gutu, 3-3. Projected seeds for other freestyle weights: 74: 1) Chamizo, ITALY (automatic bc of the Azerbaijan euro qualifier debacle) 2) Salkazanov, SLOVAKIA 3) Demirtas, TURKEY 4) Kuramagomedov, HUNGARY 86: 1) Gocen, TURKEY 2) Sharipov, BAHRAIN 3) Ramazonov, BULGARIA 4) Greil, AUSTRIA 97: 1) Thiele, GERMANY 2) Baranowski, POLAND 3) Bajcajev, HUNGARY 4) Bataev, BULGARIA 125: 1) Ligeti, HUNGARY 2) Baran, POLAND 3) Lazarev, KYRGYZSTAN 4) Khotsianivskyi, UKRAINE5 points

I hear they are really supportive of open debate and have a really active LGBTQ student population that gets a lot of support from the administration over there. Those kids should have a smooth transition.4 points

This stuff cracks me up...start an anti-Israel protest...errr....I mean an anti-war protest...errr...I mean a pro-Palestinian protest...errr...I mean a climate change/anti-police/reparations protest....and we wait for the next reason they give to act like complete idiots and have people on here make excuses for them and support what they are doing3 points

I have friends who have, for now, temporary custody of their 7 year old nephew. It has been really impressive how much he has been able to improve from a stable home environment and caregivers who do what they can do help him thrive. And that has been in this school year basically since things started at Labor day.3 points

A huge difference between Penn state sending out two guys who never wrestled a national tournament for anyone else in MM and Kerkvliet and Iowa and michigan basing their entire programs now on poaching older kids.3 points

I recently decided that I think its a moral duty to start restoring the definition of the word "racism." Last weekend a friends girlfriend told me "you're such a white man", and I just ignored it because she's sort of dumb, but I should have pointed it that such comments are just a resentful mechanism intended to weaponize racism and sexism under the idiotic idea that doing that is how you prevent future injustice. In my opinion the word "genocide" is people manipulated similarly, and to indulge my partisan side I also think "gender affirming care" and "pro-choice" are repulsive euphemisms intended to deceive people. I'm sure the right does this too, the most obvious example I can think of now is "collateral damage" as an expression for random people getting blown up, what others am I missing?2 points

I guess people are just desperate to belong to something.2 points

That's pretty unlikely IMO. Ferrari is slow and methodical and...Starroci is going to add some weight obviously. I think a bigger threat to Starroci would be a Trumble or someone who is just so much longer and bigger. Ferrari is bigger obviously, but I think the length would be a bigger issue. More likely he goes '84 though I would guess.2 points

They are all Portal U, some on the demand side, more on the supply side.2 points

No group think here... Everyone has independently thought a wrestling room is terrible if it doesn't have natural light and the same facility would be better if it had windows. Always the number one thing you hear when talking about a facility, "whats the window situation" Thank goodness Cael, JB, John Smith, etc. all lifted and trained in naturally lit buildings that led to their gold medals success....2 points

Now Turkey added Karavus instead of Atli and the he'll be the 2 seed. I got the info from UWW, which sometimes shows the full rankings. Also, if you want you can just add up the rankings this is off of - the 2023 world champs, the continental championships of 2024 and the Zagreb Ranking series. Also, for African wrestlers you have to add African Games. You can use the system - https://cdn.revolutionise.com.au/cups/wai/files/hhezgc8rlkkke8hr.pdf So the current 57 rankings are below. Only top 4 are seeded, the rest are alternate seeds as it were. 1 Aman Sehrawat (IND) 2 Muhammet Karavuş (TUR) 3 Roberti Dingashvili (GEO) 4 Zandanbudyn Zanabazar (MGL) -- 5 Roland Tambi Nforsong (CMR) 6 Horst J.J. Lehr (GER) 7 Spencer Lee (USA) 8 Georgi Vangelov (BUL)2 points

Did anyone see the clip of the "peaceful protester" at Portland University run at the police officer with a gas mask on and a garbage can shield...freaking hilarious when he gets owned by the police officer and subsequently arrested...these kids are freaking idiots!2 points

Wouldn't one who is for someone replacing the American flag for another countries flag, in America, also be for someone who says they should move to the country of which replaced the American flag???2 points

Agree . Along with that there’s a noticeable difference in two parent households versus single parents. The ability to do all those things you referenced to support the kids is cut in half.2 points

Alternate isn’t truly an official designation in wrestling- where it is in sports like gymnastics. It’s more a semantical thing but if you are second at the Trials and end up going as a training partner, you might be next up, but it doesn’t make you an Olympic alternate or THE Olympic alternate as a designated name.2 points

I NEVER thought he'd walk away from a chance at 5 and whatever NIL he's going to get for the chance to be the first 5X Champ. The freak set of circumstances that came together, it'll be cool to see.1 point

Very likely yes. The OK State head coach will be a public employee, very different from being on staff at a private school (yes I know cornell has certain programs which are considered part of the state school system).1 point

not sure what you mean by that but if I remember correctly from 20 years ago, hammerlock was taken, HL1 seemed stupid, HL2 implied there was a 1, which there wasn't, so i just dropped a 3 for people to ponder over.1 point

This is a bad take, we've seen a drop off for what seems like every 6th/7th year guy throughout the NCAAs, even PSU with Max Dean. College wrestling is too tough on the body for that long of a period of time.1 point
