  4. A really interesting aspect about UCLA and USC is they'd have a natural competitive advantage due to their proximity with the APAC countries (also the schools' reputation and alumni base). With the right coaching staff and support, it would be incredible to see those schools pull together a lineup with recruits from China, Japan, Mongolia, Iran, etc.(in addition to the West Coast). NIL could become a strong counterbalance to foreign athletes staying home and getting paid. And women's wrestling in Japan is so stacked, I'm sure there's some good talent willing to train & compete here. Unfortunately none of this will happen, but it's fun to think about.

  5. It is exhausting to answer so many questions continuously..., but list any three pressing questions you want here and now, and I'll get to them. If the clown emojis bother you, listen to the advice. Engage constructively, acknowledge valid viewpoints, admit when wrong, and give reasoned arguments/evidence when persistently dismissing opposing viewpoints. Pull your pants up, tighten your belt, iron your shirt, make your bed, and adult up.

  8. Pyles slipped this in on FRL today when they were talking about the OSU coach search. I know the guy that funded most of it announced he was retiring or something, but I didn’t realize they were folding completely? Was this previously announced? I don’t see much chatter about it on x/twitter or anything on their website (which is actually a pretty good website as far as RTC’s go!), but I do see this which was just posted late last night

  19. I don't care how good he is, Koy Hopke needs to redshirt. He's not going to win a title next year and the guys on the senior circuit aren't going anywhere. He should use the season to transform into a brickhouse and be in serious contention for 2-4 titles depending on how his development comes along.

  25. My boy's baseball team lost an exciting close game in the tournament. The umpires made a few atrocious calls that went against us and the boys were upset. After the game, I did my best Cael speech about gratitude, and how loss hurt, but we'd move past this and forget about it quickly. The I asked why we lost. The answers were unanimous: "the umpires." No! What opportunities did you miss at bat? Where can you improve your fielding? Did you make any baserunning mistakes? These are the areas where we can make a difference, regardless of the calls made on the field. PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY My 11U team is used batting against 50 mph rather than 63 mph. They are used to big hits that go 200 feet, not 270 feet! We went 3-1 against 12U teams this weekend. Not bad.

  26. You ask a question without answering, where Ghandi is common knowledge to some, and imply non-violence was their ticket to freedom. Questions are asked in return, without being answered, implying there was violence to the story. You evade the questions. You almost nailed it here. I know there is more to the story, and your understanding skims the surface. I don't want to tell you that you are wrong; I want you to rebut with facts or increase your understanding. This is an excellent point that you must ask yourself first. What evidence was presented with the implication that India became free without guns? Besides the USA's role in WW2... charter... there was violent Indian resistance (Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh - more) I really value your input. It'd be awesome to see well-informed opinions and evidence more often.

  29. Have you seen CP’s latest video where he predicts the next HC of OSU? Genius content. Joking aside, he suggests OSU should reach out to Pat Pop, Pendleton, Branch, etc. What?! Why would anybody think they’d even consider someone besides Coleman?? Clearly there was an agreement in place, that he had to be comfortable with, for him to give up his job at NC and move his family. After 11 minutes of rambling, he finally “predicts” that Coleman will be the guy. Then, he goes on to suggest that Coleman will need to backfill the role he just had (associate HC) and suggests he go after Neil Erisman. First, that role was created for Coleman…not really a reason to backfill it. Second, Erisman is killing it at Little Rock…why would he want to leave a head coaching position for an Associate HC position at a school that now has a long term answer at HC? To be a career assistant and not be a head coach?? I’m usually impartial to CP’s videos, but this one made me laugh and really stood out as a “no sh*t, Sherlock” video.

  30. It costed me $5.99 plus tax. Seems like a fair price for a month. Supposedly, I can cancel any time. On top of that, there are movies and tv shows. I haven't seen Oppenheimer, so that's a good deal, but my goodness, there's a lot of trash. The Dog Who Saved Halloween? This website needs a font to show when you're dead-*******-serious. I'm serious, The Dog Who Saved Halloween. Is that why are brains are all mush? I will certainly cancel the service within a month. In any event, I wanted to ask this question: Does anybody know when brackets come out? I heard it was today, but that narrows things down to the next 16 hours or so, and I want to get to work on a Moneyball post. If you know, but don't want to say in public, please send me a direct message. Cheers!

  32. he nearly teched vince bouazakis in the s32 finals 2 years ago and went up two weights to beat ladarion lockett in an all-star match event. I dont know if ive seen someone with as many varied attacks on their feet at such a young age. The only thing that could limit him is injuries, I believe hes had two semiserious surgeries already, but I think he's the best recruit for his class in terms of separation from guys around his size. 125-141 just has a ton of kids that are going to be great whereas 157-165 for his class the only guy that really rivals him in any capacity is Sealey.

  34. If you know, you know... Was warming up one of my wrestlers at the State tournament...we were drilling on a really soft mat. Anyone who has wrestled at the VA States at the Salem Civic Center knows that the "Big Orange" mat is one of the softest mats ever. Kid hits a nice double on me, driving me to my butt, so I posted my hands on the mat. His momentum drove all of his weight to my right shoulder and my posted hand. Pinkie finger sinks into the soft mat and dislocates. I pop it back into the joint and resume drilling. But over the years, the pinkie slowly moved out of joint and is where it is today.

  42. My man, you have no idea what you are talking about. "the guy" at 165 is Will Miller. Do you want to say Will Miller is a top tier wrestler? So, you are telling me that you believe a person can get better from having partners the years before? Sure, when he was working out with Jon Jon and Ian Miller, he was absolutely getting better, but they are gone. There is a reason you can look at a top program, name one...and there are backups that push the starters and that is how they get better. NOBODY pushed Askey, do you understand that? There is a reason that Caleb Smith AA this year wrestling for Nebraska. Was that luck? The reality of that, he went to a room, where there were wrestlers that pushed him and he got better. Jon Jon Millner worked out with Ian Miller daily, Jon Jon will tell you, working out with a multi-time AA that could still wrestle, made him better.

  43. 33 years is a hell of a run. Just think of all the changes in the sport over the last 33 years, some which arguably made the job of coaching much harder. From stylistic changes in wrestling to weight management, the RTC model, youth club system, AD changes, academic reporting, compliance, scholarship count, conference realignment, programs getting cut, pressers, social media, and now the transfer portal and NIL. The most exhausting to me would be recruiting. When ol' Johnnie started out, coaches would hit the recruiting trail and did their thing. Then came the internet & mobile phone age and fan hype over recruiting, kids building brands and verbaling/decommitting, new contact channels etc. which made the job a bit more complicated. Now with NIL and the portal coaches have to go out and recruit a new class of kids AND re-recruit their current guys to stay on for another year. I can't blame John Smith if he's had enough of that.

  44. Everyone can say what they want about Askey, I can tell you he did A LOT with LESS. He literally had nobody to push him after Coach Miller left the program. The kid works his A$$ off, and I will bet he has a great year for the Gophers. Different that Oakley, Oakley had Patterson kicking the hell out of him, and Caleb Smith prior. BUT, look what Smith did in a Nebby room...
