  2. I had forgotten how strange these OTT brackets are when there is a semi-finalist laying in wait. The way they have it set up means at 57kg: Arujau gets a triple bye, Richards and Suriano get a double bye, Fix and Gilman get a single bye, The #5, #8, #9, #12 all get a single bye, But the #6, #7, #10, #11 do not get a bye. At 65kg: Retherford gets a triple bye, Lee gets a double bye, Alirez and Diakomihalis get a single bye, The #4, #5, #8, #9, #12, #13 all get a single bye, But the #6, #7, #10, #11 do not get a bye.

  6. I have been reluctant to respond to some of the comments on here. Many of you have different thoughts on this matter. My grandfather served in combat World war 1. My father served in combat in World War 2 and passed away at the age 41 . 5 of my Uncles also served in World War 2 .All of them passed away from Huntington's Korea at he age of 40 to 43. My older brother passed away at the age of 18, 3 weeks after he had enlisted in the Navy. I had 7 cousins who served, most of them in combat. One of them after serving in Vietnam was killed 3 weeks after returning home in a car accident. The driver ran a stop sign. My son and 3 son in laws have served in combat. On was injured with an I.E.D but made it home. 2 are still actively serving. My daughter in-law served in the Army. I'm not telling you what you should do as an American that is your decision. But I for one will stand for the National Anthem with a ( sense of pride and sadness) knowing the sacrifices of these men and women and their families have gone through. Side note. None of these men or women expected recognition or special honors for their service. They are very humble and unassuming. The last 12 words of the National Anthem have a special meaning to me.

  16. I mean, this is classic athlete speak. He sees Dake as the likely rep and a potential rival for the podium so he does mental gymnastics to downplay his accomplishments because it makes him feel good about his chances. He's trained with Burroughs, is friendly with him, and likely won't have to wrestle him, so he showers him with praise.

  25. Nice try. You know I meant that there should be biological male bathrooms, biological female bathrooms, and unisex single stall bathrooms...three type of bathrooms everywhere. You are right, it is a simple fix. How about answer my questions...why are you FOR biological males and biological females in the same bathroom? Who is making this a big deal? Who is lashing out violently? By the way, I am going to follow your "logic", if you think it is okay for a biological male to use a biological female's bathroom and vice versa, wouldn't you, again using your "logic", be okay with biological male who is trans using a biological males bathroom?? So what is the issue with that if you are okay with it the other way around??

  28. Okay dum dum...nice try making it about that actual act of wearing a mask. It is about the MANDATE to do so...all the while knowing IT REALLY DOESN'T DO MUCH. I'll never understand the need/want/thrill people get forcing something on the vast majority for something that impacted such a meniscal minority. Not to mention you throw out words "cowardly" when you feel the need to wear a mask 24/7. Funny part is...I don't have a problem with people wearing masks...have at it! But don't force your irrational fears on me.

  29. Who is making it a big deal? Who is lashing out violently?? Have a bathroom for unisex...problem fixed. All sides of the issue win. Why are you against that??? Why do you want to force the situation that we all know will end up at some point being very bad? I look forward to you somehow turning unisex bathrooms into some kind of "ism" of "phobe" of some kind....

  30. The answer to the question, who scored more, is the same as the answer to the question, what kind of underwear does @BobDole wear, boxers or briefs? Depends. You have a couple of errors. Advancement points were awarded in 1997 at the same level as today, 1 for the championship round and 0.5 for the consolation round. The only difference was that in 1997 it was treated as a 64 man bracket when there were more than 32 wrestlers. That meant there was an extra advancement point on the championship side and an extra 0.5 advancement points on the consolation side for just the brackets with >32. The other main difference was in 1997 you only got 1 bonus point for a tech fall without back points. Adjusting for those differences by re-scoring Iowa using today's method gets you 171.5. The only question, then, is were bonus easier to come by this year? That is where "Depends" comes in. Yes, it was easier to get majors and tech falls, but the increase in tech falls appears to have had an unintended consequence. The number of pin falls dropped. The obvious explanation would be that getting to a tech fall faster meant there wasn't as much opportunity to pin fall an overmatched opponent. But bonus points are somewhat volatile from year to year. So, was this just a down year for bonus that was lifted a little by the easier major and tech? Or was this a normal bonus year where we traded off pin falls for tech falls, thereby offsetting the increase in majors?

  34. I wasn't a killer - that's why I was in his 2nd class, although I was also recruited by the other Ivies as well as Michigan (man, that was a fun visit), Syracuse and Rutgers, as well as other schools. Roger was hired at 26 after Penn tried to drop the program. By the time my class graduated (1993), we were getting votes in the Top 25. In 1996, Penn won the first of four straight EIWA team titles. Honestly, I'm not sure why I'm responding to you or Three Point Takedown - your responses have repeatedly demonstrated you have no freaking idea what you are talking about. Good day.

  35. He's pretty good, but the age cheating drove/drives me crazy. Saduleev is quite a bit older than we thought, but obviously still great. The age seemed to hit him hard this year. We will see if he recovers. Yianni tells a story about how he was in cadet world finals and talked to vito after the semi. Vito was training with the club that Yianni's final opponent was from (Russia/Belarus/whomever). Vito told Yianni that the club guys had been laughing all week bc Yianni's finals opponent was from their club and was like 20 and there was no way he would lose. Yianni won, but that is an example of how things work. (the details are close if not 100% accurate) Frank Popolizio said that one year at his Journeyman International tournament that every Russian "kid" had the exact same birthday on their papers! Day and year!

  40. I was leaning more towards one of the most dominant wrestlers ever and have a very good shot at making it to the Olympics as well as being a great ambassador for the sport despite having adults criticize him since he was a child. Simply a matter of perspective though.

  41. This is one of those that if the call on the mat was a Takedown, it needs to stay a Takedown. If it wasn't a Takedown it needs to remain not a Takedown. Unless there is some sort of other evidence that we can obviously not see (which I imagine there is), then I see no way that either call could have been overturned with 'no reasonable doubt' being the criteria. So yes, it appears Chamizo was absolutely pegged.

  48. Penn coaching timeline: - Reina steps down first time, Penn hires Zeke Jones as HC from WVU. - Zeke leaves in the middle of his 2nd season for Colorado Springs, Penn promotes Rob Eiter to head coach. - Rob - great guy, love him - doesn’t work out. Penn hired younger Tirapelle. - Younger Tirapelle REALLY doesn’t work out. Reina returns from athletic administration to right the ship. - And now, Valenti steps down from athletic administration to step in for Reina. i have a lot of thoughts about what’s going on at Penn, but for now I will just say I believe Matt is going to be a very good head coach for Penn.

  49. Ivys offer pretty much full financial aid to anyone whose family falls below a certain income threshold .. if your family makes less than 85,000 a yr then Harvard aid covers everything Cornell is 60,000 and under Princeton is 100,000 - 63 percent of the student body apparently falls into this category
