Random 65kg thoughts- I don't think Pantaleo will have a gas tank down at 65. And that is the IOC's fault not his. It's a shame really. Gross should qualify but I wonder if he crash cuts down to 57 if he doesn't. He just doesn't pass the eye test for a legit 65kg body which, again, is the IOCs fault and not his. i agree its not easier but it is more likely. the advent of kids being hyper specialized in one sport, the internet making it possible to recruit the whole country meaningfully, and the RTC system has pulled the elite high schoolers way closer to the top of the NCAA than it was in the past. Whose heard amazing wrestlers say, "i didn't score in the college room for months?" Cause I have many times, now high schooler I havent even heard of are beating #1 ranked guys and its just not that shocking.

In the non-freshman eligible eras there were 16 wrestlers who went N/A, 1, 1, 1. So without question 4.2 of them would have won it as freshmen had they been eligible because math. Since King Solomon don't live round here, which four are you picking?

Speaking from personal experience as a far worse but similarly built athlete from a long time ago, a decision to move up ten pounds and one weight class had me running over guys I couldn’t handle the year before bc “weight management” took it out of me. It allowed my frame to fill out, sleep better, be better rested and be much stronger Hamiti might be getting really big in the off-season, or even in-between matches. It’s hard to bring the heat when your body explodes back up in weight from just seeing calories or hydration.
