  1. J.P. O'Connor with SIX! 132-17 career (9 losses to six champs): Jordan Leen, 3x (2007 Dual @ 149, 2007 EIWA @ 149, 2009 EIWA @ 157) Dustin Schlatter (2007 NCAA @ 149) Jordan Burroughs, 2x (2008 NCAA @ 149, 2008 Vegas @ 157) Bubba Jenkins (2008 NCAA @ 149) Darrian Caldwell (2008 NCAA @ 149) Gregor Gillespie (2009 NCAA @ 157) His other losses were to: Josh Churella, 2x (2006 Vegas, 2007 NCAA) Jake Patacsil (2006 Midlands) Cesar Grajales (2008 EIWA) Michael Chandler (2008-09 Dual) Chase Pami (2009 NCAA R12) I can't find the other two losses from his frosh season, which probably occurred in open tourneys. He only had one dual loss that season, and I've got the Vegas and Midlands results.

  2. talk about a 'reach,' Vak. geesh. he's clearly half joking. drilling and closing the border aren't even dictatorial moves. but know what is? opening the border. TDS is real.

  3. My apologies if this has already been covered someplace else, but I haven't seen it. The NCAA has recently modified the at-large process of qualifying for the NCAA tournament. In addition to needing at least two of the existing six criteria to be considered for an at-large berth, wrestlers must participate in at least two matches at their conference tournaments. The NCAA has already cracked down on the "arranged" injury defaults by requiring that real wrestling take place; now a wrestler must do that twice in the qualifiers in order to be eligible for at-large consideration. The existing six criteria remain unchanged; wrestlers need at least two: ● .700 Win % ● Top 33 RPI ● Top 33 CR ● .700 winning percentage against all competition ● One win against a wrestler receiving an earned position (pre-allocated) ● Qualifying event placement one below number of pre-allocated spots I've been thinking about whether this makes it easier or harder to grab an at-large position. Maybe Seton Hall Pirate will weigh in with his opinion. If injured wrestlers who have earned pre-allocated spots don't enter their conference tournaments, those spots will be freed up and so there will be more at-large positions available. But there will be more healthy wrestlers competing for the at-large spots, so it may balance out.

  4. Time for NCAA football to become FBS football and become their own semi-pro league. Give them what they want. Contracts, unions, medical staff, owners, 55 man rosters....etc. Let them lease stadiums and facilities back from universities, do their own promotions, pay for commercials, etc. Let them have what they want...

  10. Historically Greg Jones would be an example. One of the best ever but seemed like an afterthought even when he was competing. Modern day would be Austin O'Conner, if he's wrestled for iowa, which would have been a good fit he'd have been talked about constantly. And for fun, the anti example, a big market wrestler no ones thinks about and i have no idea why TJ Williams. 1 loss in three years at Iowa.

  14. Buchanan hasn't wrestled for a year. you don't move a 3x AA down for missing one match unless you have totally changed your methodology. why didn't Fix drop for missing CKLV? Brooks? i mean, i can follow the A->B->C logic, but i've never seen rankings done like that. and i can follow their rationale for Maida. it's not lost on me. but it's never been done like that in the history of sports or rankings. the guy literally fell 18 spots and didn't lose lol.

  15. Because of the comments and discussion here I went back and watched the question and answer. My thought was, TDS is real and contagious. I don't like Trump but good grief he hasn't changed, this is the way he talks, any who understands that know what he was saying and its not that he is going to be a dictator for a day. I don't know why we don't have a vaccine program for TDS, half the country has it, if you show symptoms you should be required to isolate for 10 days with no internet, clearly a booster shot program may be needed to get us thru the next ~5 years.

  19. Interesting idea....I would add (and maybe. you inferred this) that there are no at-large, that the last chance determines the at-large selections - like you said top 3 are in. You have to have been entered in your conference tournament first. Personally, I would love to see this tournament.... but not on FLO.

  20. In addition to Goldman, there are two other three time runner ups who lost to a different wrestler all three times. Willard Duffy lost to Rex Peery (1935), Ted Anderson (1936), and Joe McDaniel (1938). Gerry Abas lost to Lincoln McIlravy (1993), Alan Fried (1994), and John Hughes (1995).

  21. if this is going to become a weight class discussion, it may deserve a less misleading thread title. however, as much as I would prefer 13 consistent NFHS weight classes across all states, those listed here with their corresponding kilogramatic values are not reflective of the bell curve of high school wrestlers. even adding those bottom 3 weights, there are too many upper weights, too many lower weights and not enough in the middle (with too large increments). 75% of the kids would fall into less than 50% of the weights. that is the difficulty in trying to have HS classes, where kids are starting lighter and growing faster, mirror college or "grown up" weights.

  22. How are you not strongly disgusted by Christie? You seem like the type of guy that eats a snickers bar with a knife and fork. Christie is a faceplant feaster. Only a person bothered to hear someone clear a throat full of mucus would criticize Vivek.

  23. I'm just not sure if you're giving big Cass too much credit . I'm worried the offense, down a weight, might be too much . But otherwise, very fair Cass has a U23 gold and bronze medal. He will be extremely powerful at 197. Should be interesting to see how he does down there. He will be shredded.

  24. Thanks. Not sure about Goldman. Ten career losses (132-10). NCAA finals losses were to M. Schultz, J. Scherr, and D. Chaid. 4x B1G champ. Not sure that there were other champs for him to run into. He had seven total losses as a frosh & none of the other AAs were NCAA champs. I hit on O'Connor by targeting weight classes that had 4-5 timeframes with multiple champs... i.e., the 149-157 brackets during the mid-to-late 2000s. I also looked at 125-133 during that timeframe (Nickerson, Donahoe, Escobedo, Ness, Coleman Scott, Valenti).

  34. 42 states including National Preps use the 14 weight set across the county. I would say use those, but I'm just a dead senator. 4 states are using the 13 weight set(Minnesota, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Pennsylvania) 1 state(Alaska) is using the 1996ish weight set(103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, 285) Idaho has 15 weights, the old set plus 98lbs New York uses the NFHS 12 weight set plus 101lbs Montana has a modified set of weights(103, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 205, 285)

  38. This 'second time' isn't the win you may think it is. And neither was the first time. "I want to close the border and drill, drill, drill." That says executive orders to me. Here are some of Trump's executive orders with border or energy in the title. Biden revoked them all. You can expect Trump to put back something similar.
