I am once again upset about Flo (& track) and their terrible product. Is this the right thread?3 points

i think part of it is that he lost to domestic contemporaries, not just savvy vets wrestling FS full time. no one expected him to lose to Nick Lee 3xs. another thing is, i think, he's been a superstar for so long people forget how young he is - 1 year removed from college (and already has a SR medal). he's revered. and those kinds of stars often have unreasonable expectations put upon them (spencer lee). anyone that thinks he's 'overhyped' probably have themselves to blame. no one is going unscathed at 65kg over a multi-year period.3 points

... and, to reiterate what I've already previously posted, I would like to see Israeli change their military strategy to put more emphasis on protecting civilian lives. That being said, I would also like to see Hamas (and Hezbollah) do the same - by stopping the rocket attacks into civilian area of Israel. It is extremely difficult to accept allowing Iranian sponsored militant terror groups to be held to a lower standard than the Israeli military. If the Iranian sponsored terrorists continue to target and kill Israeli citizens without apology or remorse, then how could anyone reasonably accuse Israel of being any worse than Iran/Hamas/Hezbollah? They simply could not. And don't forget - only one group is holding hundreds of civilian hostages. An unacceptable and barbaric act.2 points

What a bunch of bullshit. There is no ethnic cleansing going on, lying bastards like you keep claiming there is - but there isn't. Israel is targeting Hamas (the militant group who attacked them), and not targeting civilian Palestinians. That is NOT ethnic cleansing. Due to the Hamas attack, Israel and Hamas are now at war. During war, civilians perish - on both sides. That is one of the many downsides of the horrible nature of war. But because civilians perish, doesn't make it ethnic cleansing. Not even close. Nobody is being forcibly moved from Gaza. Nobody. They have been warned to clear out from the areas they intend to attack and move to a safer location inside Gaza. That is NOT ethnic cleansing. It is beyond ridiculous that you - and others - keep making the BS claim of ethnic cleansing. As everyone knows by now, Hamas is a lying terrorist group that hides among civilians and in hospitals. Egypt doesn't want any part of Hamas making their way into Egypt as they hide among civilians and use terrorist tactics that are abhorrent in any even remotely civilized society. Other countries agree with Egypt, as should they all. Hamas is an evil cancer - not to be welcomed anywhere.2 points

You gotta rep the brand...as I was told anyway. Looks like you are already sponsored by Michael Crichton. Might want to hold on to that one... start reppin that brand...you know sell the books, set up some displays at the NCAA.2 points

Both Brawlnagels and Lucas Byrd in the lineup, and you have quite a different result. Their absences accounted for three losses. Two of those three were bonus: Pin and Tech. Additionally, Navy is young but bona fide. This was my preview here. The guy who took Edmond Ruth into overtime was at Blair two years ago winning a couple of Beasts of the East and other tournaments. The big news out of the dual was Kannon Webster making his Orange and Blue debut with a tech fall. He will redshirt this year, but, man, wait until he and Scoles and Moore and the others break into the lineup with the Brawlnagels and Byrd. Luffman will be back as well, and he's looking real good. Check it out:2 points

Beginning of the season so wrestlestat isn't exactly accurate, but they pump out upsets on the regular based on their on rankings. Below screenshot shows what we have so far before Sundays matches. Thompson over Hall seems to be the most unexpected. Latona has had a couple of odd early season tournament results in the past (e.g. Pat Phillips), so I don't worry too much about him. Kaylor on the other hand seems to be on a bit of a slide since earning All American a couple years ago.1 point

Metcalf, Mocco, Schlatter (maybe due to injury in part), Askren. Many of the best domestic wrestlers have been humbled against international competition. We are in a golden era where a guy who has won "only" one world silver medal at age 24 can be viewed as overhyped.1 point

I don't know who "They" is supposed to be, but you - like UB - have it backwards. Hamas is very simply and very clearly the guilty bastards and the target here. If they are eliminated, it will be an actual victory. The notion that any country could eliminate global terrorism is unrealistic. It's much too big of a cancer. It doesn't matter if Israel acted to eliminate Hamas or not, terrorism from the group would continue to grow and spread. You're right, history is clear on that. Inaction will not change that any more than action. What Israel is doing is eliminating the one terrorist group that is by far the worst in terms of their peoples' security. Just the one. That will improve their security for now. The only other option would be to give up and let the terrorist bastards have their way. Just like solving any big problem. You break it up into small solvable pieces and move forward. You can't solve it all at once.1 point

You are confused here. Worldwide terror is not the target. It is far simpler than that. The current effort isn't intended to end terror - it is intended to eliminate Hamas.1 point

The older I get, the more disappointed I am with the educational gap in required life skill education. Schools ought to be teaching finance management at a young age. How to make money. How to save money. How to use money to make more money. Good debt versus bad debt, etc. How many elders would have saved more money at a younger age had a mentor spoken with them about it?1 point

Yeah, I remembered that 'down" year for Bruce... all before his amazing gold medal performance @ Barcelona in "92. How many of you remembered seeing his round 3 win in the last seconds over David Gobejishvili ("88 gold medal winner over Baumgartner @ Seoul ?) 0-0 , ref stops action and brings the two combatants to the center meter circle. As both get set to wrestle when the whistle gets blown, Bruce noticed the Gebejishvili visibly relax... he was satisfied that they were going into overtime and to go after Bruce then. It was then that Bruce bulled rushed him at the whistle, grabbed his legs and bowled him over for a 3 point exposure! With only a few seconds left after they both landed oob... it was virtually impossible get those three back. That opened up to winning the B group and going after the gold (beating Canada's jeff Thue, 8-0.) THAT, after his 1991 medal-less showing at the Worlds, was something to behold! D31 point

If we harken back to days of yore when freshman were not eligible to wrestle there were a number of dominant wrestlers who left us with a bunch of what ifs. Among the three timers in the three time era (100%ers) who would have won as a freshman? Maybe that Sanderson guy wasn't so special. Maybe Pat Smith shouldn't have been the first. After all, there were 15 of these guys and 6 of them were undefeated. Surely one of them would have won as a freshman and done it in style. Like the answer to the question "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?", the world will never know. But we can know what the intersection of their careers and modern careers looks like. Instead of adding fictional titles and points to past champions, lets do the more recent guys dirty and subtract titles and points. If we subtract the first year of competition and just focus on years they all have in common, years two through four (sorry Myles and Jaydin), who scored the most NCAA points? Without further ado, I present your new king of the hill: Zain Retherford. A few other observations: In the spirit of subtraction, I decided to also subtract the 5 points Dan Gable earned in his two pigtail matches from when brackets could be just about any size. If we look at it on a per match basis Dan Hodge would take his rightful seat on the throne as he scored his 80 points in just 13 matches, while the others at or near the top did it in 15 matches. Bonus points are huge (too huge? let the debate begin). The third and fourth positions are occupied by guys who only went 2 for 3 in their last three years. But, boy did they do it in style, with Dan Gable putting up a perfect 30 points in 1969 and David Taylor scoring 29.5 in 2012.1 point
