  7. I just find it humorous that people use "fact checked" websites for their truth and then swear by it. I have used them before as a point of my information gathering on a topic but by no means are they the be all of everything "true". I found that most of the sites use indirect things to prove or disprove things..ex, "Biden wasn't telling the truth because he said that thing happened on a Wed when in fact it happened on a Tue', when the day of the week had nothing to do with the topic...or the "fact checkers" take things out of context. It was really bad on CNN for Trump and Covid crap. Oh and the irony of people trying to bash others about just believing everything they read on the internet, then prove they are right by saying they used a "fact checking" website...can't make this stuff up

  9. I have not read a single thing asserted by anyone writing in this thread which implies that he/she thinks a person of any race is less entitled to respect and human dignity than anyone else. I have read quite a few posters on this thread who think that if your understanding of history is not 100% aligned with theirs you are a racist, a crackpot, a cunt, a pig, pro-rape, evil, and vile things. The black guy having to let another know that he is a great American therefore great American does not equal racist is very interesting in the underlying implications. The first implication being that racism is only against blacks. Rashida certainly thinks great Americans – and one in particular - are racist against her and those who worship like she does. The second implication being that no one who is black thinks any less of any one of any other race whatsoever. While it might be true in the case of this particular great American I do not suppose he can speak for his whole race. In fact, we are often told that it is very racist to think that an individual of a particular race can give us "the perspective of ______s (fill in the race of your choice here)”? When the thread veered into discussing relative man-size and Ban's wife's enjoyment in finding out the rankings then I knew there is still hope for all of us to maintain perspective on this board.

  10. It’s so funny that conservatives say things like this but the more our country distances itself from these countries, the more you say things are going wrong and we need to return to the way things used to be when you were growing up. Well guess what, things were much closer to those countries back then! Our government and economy wasn’t totally controlled by multinational corporate interests, we had a strong social safety net, strong unions and labor protections, healthcare and education didn’t ruin you financially, the food wasn’t poison, etc…Now that we’re living in the capitalist, deregulated utopia you dreamed of everything sucks!

  12. There is a pisspoor understanding of socialism in the world. Most people don’t even think about it, which is all well and good. The ones who think about it enough to use it as an insult really, really don’t understand it.

  13. @Husker_Du Here's a question. Trump handed out over $20 billion in aid to farmers during his term. He increased it significantly from where it was. That is direct wealth redistribution from the tax payer to farmers. Is that not socialism to you? What about the $800 billion in Covid relief checks? $1800/person paid for by the rich? How is that not socialism to you? Genuinely curious how you feel about these things?

  18. kamala called him a racist, you imbecile. and the great quote from obama 'never underestimate Joe Biden's ability to screw things up.' that he is in the position he's in and associated with black colleagues is pure politics. he's a puppet. a career politician. and a documented racist. the only reason you ignore the writing on the wall (his own words and record) is b/c there's a D next to his name.

  21. wtf are you talking about? since when is 'wealth redistribution' a prereq for being left? that's the thing. the nutbag lefts went way down the road. that's where most of us (me, maher, etc) bid adieu to you crackheads. now being 'left' means socialism. and in case you missed it, the left has gone full scale war hungry, not the right.

  27. It started as a joke. People were discussing how nutty pampered affluent white people reacted to innocuous statements and hypothesized that if we posted a bunch of flyers that said “It’s Alright to be White” it would be decried as racist. They did and it was.

  30. i don't know the answer to this question i'm about to ask...it's a genuine question i don't know the answer to so please don't read anything into it (the way many on this board (including myself) often do. But i read that Egypt has a very secure border on the Gaza strip that prevents Palestinians from entering. Why? do they not want them there? why has no other Muslim nation offered them refuge including Egypt, who could make it very easy for them to flee.

  40. Simple. Protecting children from potentially harmful content is a self-evident choice that prioritizes their well-being over unfettered access to sensitive material within an educational setting. I disagree with parents' beliefs that access to Huck Finn's N words will transform my white kids into rabid racists. These parents believe hearing the N-word read aloud, personally reading in silence, and classmates reading it could traumatize their black kids. Removing Huck Finn from the school library does zero harm to my kids. Keeping the book accessible has a non-zero risk. A graphic novel, "Flamer" is available in K-6 school libraries. One page has multiple images with boys' pants down around their ankles and says, "We're each busting a load into this bottle. If you don't cum, you have to DRINK IT! Hahahaha!" There is zero risk for harm by banning the book in the K-6 library. There is a nonzero risk a young child is exposed at the wrong time in their life, and the parent may not even be aware they need to discuss it.

  43. Seems like you're focusing on the wrong aspect of their personas. Not that two wrestling coaches reached that level within such and such a period of time because THAT is remarkable. It isn't. The thing these two guys have in common is that they are scumbags. Not something to celebrate in our community or nationally.
