It's possible they don't need help (maybe personal & university insurance), also possible they don't really know what they are facing yet. Maybe we need to wait a bit, see how it plays out and what they need. Hopefully all goes well and great medical care.2 points

Glad they are mixing in the Little Rocks and Lock Haven's of the world.2 points

Sammy had a second surgery this morning and is still in serious condition. Someone close to the family has said he expected to have a full recovery. An 11 year old boy witnessed the shooting. No one has been arrested. Flo has an article on there page.2 points

9lbs in either direction, and she'll have 6 months from the U23s in October until the trials in April. She's already lean, also carrying impressive muscle mass. Our depth at 76 makes me hope you're right. Also, the fact that she didn't move this year indicates that she's at least considering going down. Given her age, muscle mass, and style of controlling ties, it appears to me that bulking up would be best for her. Her leveraging techniques and superiority in lateral positions will be just fine at 68 where they're a little scrappier than 76: Tie up with her, she wins. Attack her legs, you lose.2 points

Prayers for Sammy. Hope he is in recovery with the support he needs. Let’s catch this son of a bitch.2 points

The Brakeman reports were always a great read and wealth of information. You can still find them online... a couple of my favorite reads were his take on Shawn Nelson, North Royalton, Ohio (now the coach at Findlay College) and Luke Fickell, now the head football coach at Wisconsin. If you are ever bored, pulled a couple of these up for your reading enjoyment....also a great learning experience. Fadz http://www.ovaecwrestling.com/2010/2008_brakeman.htm2 points

You're not wrong. Especially for Toledo. They hosted more World Cup tourneys than anyone. Close to two decades.2 points

I swear I do not mean this with an intention to bring all the Iowa and PSU fanboys together to once again run their mouths at each other... I know they will all show up anyway, but here goes...1 point

My goodness. This woman needs more discussion. She just wiped the mat with other women in her age group (U20) … not surprising since she is already world champ at U23 and the big show - seniors. Very very rarely a close match. Need some pros to give insights on her style. Also, is she going to challenge Gray for the Olympic spot?1 point

We knew the day when the Brakemen Report was due. We would stay and practice late just waiting on the fax to come out. He's a legend in Ohio. He mentioned me once. I'm kind of a big deal.1 point

meyer wrestled his whole life. he didn't compete a ton. and, in his first year at Fargo he DNP'd. which is why, when i said in my Cadet Trials two years ago that he was a lock, people lost their heads. he's been a prodigy since middle school.1 point

Can't take his skills away from him, for sure. Among, if not the best 125 pounder I've seen.1 point

They didn't hesitate to put Lock Haven and NC State on the same side of the bracket either. Some bad blood between Noto and his old team. Will be fun to see that one with him and Camacho.1 point

He was training in Japan for a little bit a few months ago with Yui Susaki and wrestlers at the college she graduated from. He also met up again with his ol' buddy, Otoguro and trained at another university.1 point

No Steely Dan? I know you all just played a Steely Dan classic in your head like Josie, FM, Reeling in the years, and smiled, then said “no! studio band,”1 point

It's interesting that she wants to compete in Junior, U23, and Senior again this year. Good for her, though. Why not travel and win more? I like watching her hands in ties. She must have incredible strength to control those ties as a teenager, but the levers she creates and cranks are fun to keep track of. I'm guessing her jiu-jitsu and judo experiences are in play here.1 point

@MPhillips I thought it was sacrilegious for an Ohio college to drop wrestling. My buddy's dad wrestled for Toledo, when they still had a program.1 point

Lol Cunningham isn’t giving up training world champions to coach at UNC Kolat would be fine, probably a notch below where UNC is today to be honest. But Ramos is already there. If they do him dirty then he’s probably gone and that recruiting pipeline is going to dry up real quick. I heard he doesn’t mess with double-crossing liars.1 point

Really just depends on how you want to skin that cat. From an individual success standpoint, Coleman has been awesome. O’Connor is the best thing at UNC since TJ in the 90s. We’ve also had 3 all Americans pretty much every season and McNeil shows a lot of promise. The negative is from a team perspective, UNC has gotten worse every year. The team has had the same holes in the lineup for years now (125, 165, 197, 285 haven’t been competitive weights in years and recruiting hasn’t addressed it). We’ve been passed comfortably by NC State, VT, and Pitt making us the 4th best squad in a conference with only 6 programs. I’m just not the guy that’s going to use a post about our coach leaving to poo-poo on the weaknesses he’s had over the years lol. So yeah, hate to lose him and wishing him the best.1 point

U. Cal. Davis had the NCAA outstanding wrestler award winner (who is now the head coach at Cal Baptist) but the school dropped wrestling soon thereafter, close to 2 decades ago: https://cbulancers.com/sports/wrestling/roster/coaches/derek-moore/462 Encouragingly enough, Coach Moore is now based where wrestling shows & movies have the potential to be made more often, and where the '28 Olympics will be held. In other words, he is now well positioned to help our sport survive at the college level and hopefully gain a renewed Olympic bid after its current one otherwise expires around 2028 in Los Angeles.1 point
