  1. Yes, except for when Liam was beat by Ethan Berginc and when he was majored by Caleb Smith. He is a senior in his 7th college season with 1 career win at NCAA's. I think its fair to question whether he will be able to keep up this hot streak he is on.

  2. Washington's bottom wrestling was incredible after the match ended.... Haven't seen wrestling like that after the match since Metcalf.

  5. For all intensive purposes how about you curve your hunger with a bowl of cold slaw as "that guy" on these hear boards before you turn yourself into a social leopard.

  6. This is all true but let's please stop using HR as a source for what all/majority of Hawkeye fans think. There are what, maybe 60 active posters on the board (that feels high). It's a good source for information and a chuckle but at the end of the day, that board represents a small sliver of the Hawkeye fandom. Ditto for other team centric message boards

  9. I think we have seen this many times where a freshman is tough out of the gate, but as several have said, they start to wear down because of the grind. In HS, a kid of that caliber might go a month before even going to the 2nd period, now he's fighting for every point in the room and in competition. It's a battle that they have not seen.... and it goes on..... foorrreeevvvveeeerrrrr.

  11. "Rokfin" doesn't determine anything. The individual channels do. I went with non PPV. So it was no additional charge for those existing subscribers. On what planet is that 'greedy'?

  12. The #1 ranked wrestler at 197 lost to a guy ranked only 19th!!! Word on the street is because HEW kicked in. I’m sure Mizzou twitter and forums are going crazy right now saying he should be replaced by the backups.

  13. Don't know what happened with that match. But in general BTN is orders of magnitude better than Flo.

  14. Starocci is a cornball. “You should have killed me last time” is absolute loser shit. It’s folkstyle wrestling.

  18. Ferrari, obviously has much better WWE credentials. But Steveson had an impressive suplex on Chas Betts. Ferrarri has much more wear and tear on his personal life while Steveson had less issues in college. Steveson has stated many times his goal was to win Wrestlemania and Royal Rumble. But he also supposedly is next in line to be the next CEO of the WWE. Ferrari hasn't really stated his goals but he's pursuing WWE seriously now it seems. I doubt he's going to end up in the AEW given his demeanor. Factoring in all things, who do you think ends up having the better WWE career? Steveson or Ferrari?

  19. Here's another Just embarrassing for Starocci... Imagine getting so worked up over a guy who upset you two years ago and poses no threat to you. Didn't DJW get pinned by an NAIA guy earlier this season? No disrespect to the NAIA but this is NCAA Division 1 wrestling.

  24. I see your point. You're right. That was my mistake. By saying - simple, obvious and something we can all support. I didn't intend to include wackos on the far left and far right. There has always been and will always be plenty of wackos out there. I don't expect that to ever change. When I refer to 'all of us', I'm not strictly referring to 100% of us. I'm not including the loonies. I'm referring to what I believe is the vast majority of the country who are thoughtful and reasonable. Those who, most importantly, are willing to listen and discuss rather than stomp, scream, and shout like children. I believe we significantly outnumber them - they just make a lot more noise.

  25. For clarification, My choices are based on shoehorning past greats into current weight classes. I'm also considering each wrestlers best season (often their final college season),but allowing for every weight class they may have competed in. The more I consider it the better a Dake vs Schalles bout sounds.

  26. Agreed. I don't usually have any problem with the stream on BTN+. Although the broadcasting has high variance - the kid doing the PSU vs Indiana match Sunday was another one of these guys who sees "players" on the mat...

  34. This is absolutely a thing on Hawkeye Report. A number of posters there are certain he will be the next head coach of Iowa after he completes his international career. And at least one has speculated that he could be the next AD, perhaps extrapolating from a comment Spencer Lee made in an interview that he had been to events for every team save crew. I stopped counting at 20 posters who suggest Lee as anywhere from 100% the next choice, to just one of many candidates: https://iowa.forums.rivals.com/threads/who-would-iowa-go-after-when-brands-retires.403783/

  36. Since we are digging up old coaching vids, can anyone post the video of Cael crying, throwing a chair, and getting kicked out of the World Team Trials? I believe it was 2019 right after David Taylor lost to J'den.

  38. This is D1 wrestling ,now days men. It is a long drawn out season. Dual meets mean nothing ,in the big picture . Purely side exhibition and entertainment. Us fans, supporters need not worry or complain, it’s kosher now in the coaches circles to hold guys to make sure they peak in March. And this also gives friends and families of back ups ,a chance to actually watch their guy in a live match on the big stage. How could this not be entertaining?

  40. For what it’s worth, the BTN app is horrible for me on chrome cast. It will randomly start looping. I’ve completely given up and just watch it on my wife’s laptop which is fine but pretty annoying when you have a TV just sitting there.

  41. I get what you're trying to do with that rule but think it a pushout would be much better. The automatic stalling is still subjective - which wrestler do we hit with the call. Pushout rule is objective, and I think that's a big part of why it's been a substantial plus overall. This would be a good move. The lack of action in the 3 minute first period gets too many matches off to a bad start. The sport is suffering. Even Penn State matches have less action. I thought that the Tom Brands press conference on this, assuming I heard things correctly, showed the problem. First, his simple retort is that they sell out NCAAs so you can't say there's anything wrong with the product - college wrestling leaders, don't take this for granted, if you do it will be too late before you realize you've got a problem. Don't be Rod Blagojevich - I've got this thing and it's f'ing golden. Also he was asked and answered generally about moving toward freestyle. I don't think they have to move toward freestyle. They just have to add one objective rule, which freestyle itself added not long ago to address the same problem. This is necessary because the referees make it as clear as they possibly can, every single match of every single season, that they are not comfortable with aggressive subjective stalling calls being the answer to the problem.

  44. Maybe Michial Foy deserves just a little credit for this recent win over Warner. They had a very similar match last year that Warner won by just a point or two. So not a total shock.
