I just think you cross a different bridge taking PEDs in college / international sports. I also don’t believe for a second if was just that once. I also believe both coaches, fix, his father had to openly lie and support the narrative that daddy left a unmarked bottle in the fridge…. Knowing full well his kid is a college / international athlete subject to not taking banned substances. comparing PEDs to a speeding ticket isn’t worth arguing over.3 points

I do hope he finishes 2-2-2-2. Or better. 2-2-2-2-2. Don’t care who beats him in the finals. Cheaters don’t need to ride into the sunset with a victory at the end of their career.3 points

Nope. Unlike previous years, dominating wrestling isn't a guarantee for Lee this year. He's obviously gimpy. He's got to wrestle a quality schedule, and show he's a dominant wrestler, while going undefeated. Won't be easy at all. In other words, it's not Spencer's to lose - he's going to have to earn it. It'll be an uphill battle.2 points

Obviously bad news for fans (and thus the sport) if a highly talented wrestling like Glory is significantly reducing matches for weight management. What about a solution where in order to qualify for a weight class at Nationals, you must have at least X number of successful weigh-ins at that weight. If the rule already exists now, it could be a matter of increasing the requirement.2 points

Spencer isn't going up to 61, I was only asking if he would bump up to 133 for a single dual against Fix because it was a fun hypothetical. I don't think he will, but it is a fun question to ask. I also don't think Fix drops to 125 for NCAAs or 57. Unless he wants to guarantee another silver medal...2 points

I don't think MMA is for Spencer. With knees like his, they would get attacked mercilessly. Not worth it. mspart2 points

And here is where you're overlooking his secret sauce. He lets his wrestlers be who they are. He doesn't mold them, he enhances them.2 points

Once we resolve the issue of the legality of trump's tax situation, if it is found that he is not guilty of any tax fraud I think we have an even larger problem in our country. If a person that is as wealthy as him can legally pay only $750 in federal tax for a year, the general tax-paying public (pretty much defined as what's left of the middle class) should be outraged regardless of where they are on the political spectrum. It's pretty obvious (to BP anyway) that taxes are a zero sum game. If trump and his ilk are not paying them, you, me, and Bobby Mcgee are. Having said this, whether or not he is found guilty of anything illegal, I would expect his supporters to organize another of their "love-ins" at the headquarters of the IRS this time.2 points

Dan Gable is The King First a pretty graph showing the years that each coach coached and the percentage of the bracket that AAed each year. The % of a bracket to AA takes into account both the bracket size and the number of AA's each season (which was variable over the time period). The assumption is that the higher the % of the bracket to AA, the easier it is to AA. I don't know if this is exactly correct. In the open era with more wrestlers in the bracket there is, I believe, a higher incidence of soup cans. In the qualifying era that gets sorted out before the tournament. So take it with a grain of salt. Next a table. Based on AA's per season Gable is clearly head and shoulders above the rest, with Cael Sanderson a distant second. But I also wanted to adjust for field size and number of AA slots (in spite of the caveat above) so I also calculate the percentage of all AA's available during their tenure that each coach earned. Again, Gable runs away from the field, but now Harold Nichols pips Sanderson as there were between 4 and 8 AA's per weight and between 8 and 11 weights during Nichols' tenure.2 points

Nothing on here is being released to others and is all encrypted. I would suggest when using gmail you can and a "+" and something after it and it will go to your account, but you'll be able to sort emails and see where they are coming from. So you would update your email to username+intermat@gmail.com and you can then setup filters for that email address. The ads are still being tweaked as far as what is shown and not allowed. Of course I see this ad on this topic2 points

As long as we are talking rumors from a rival board, is it true Griffith dropping to 149?2 points

currently streaming on FLO 125: Golhoffer slides by with a decision by narrow margin (5-3) 133: Biscoglia first period pin over Stacey 141: Score is only 6-3 in favor of Happel, which doesn't tell the whole story of a match in which he has three takedowns vs Greenwood's three escapes1 point

Thx flyingcement, updates are great! (I just had a run-in with Flo's support over my subscription so I cancelled it. To be fair, after a half dozen emails with a Flo bonehead - a much better Flo rep did get it right.)1 point

While Holschlag was up 4-3 with eight seconds left, the crowd got quiet enough for a moment and all you could hear was a guy yelling "Finish Him" in the Mortal Kombat style1 point

Bleak outlook for the cowboys who lost the only match they were favored (157) with half the dual remaining and zero team points scored.1 point

Holschlag in a double with 46 seconds left, but gets his head pushed inside. Long battle before he eventually secures the takedown and narrow victory.1 point

Scoreless first period. Holschlag starts second on bottom after thirty seconds of earned riding time by Wright. On their feet and Wright in on the legs for a takedown. Immediate escape and it's 2-2 going into the third with Wright starting on bottom.1 point

Zollman with a late escape to avoid the major. 10-3 decision for Realbuto. 157 we have Soldier Solute champion Jacob Wright vs UNI's Derek Holslchag1 point
-
Greenwood, obviously the superior mat wrestler, but less confident on his feet, rode Happel for the entirety of the third period to earn a riding point in addition to his three escapes. 6-4 match but wasn't that close. Realbuto is currently working on a major decision over Zollman1 point

I agree with you and I'm sure my idea has other flaws, but that is why I said X number of weigh-ins instead of X number of matches. This enables even injured guys to comply without risk.1 point

Good idea, but I can see it going bad (someone is injured and misses too many matches). The fact is, the kid doesn't belong at 125 based on the existing rules. They found grey areas or tricks to fudge certification and are deliberately manipulating the rules. He is afraid at 133, and likes to use his size advantage against 125s. As an athlete, I was very old school as far as weight cutting, but a lot of this changed after the deaths. Even more changed as I grew older and saw more and more.1 point

So don't you think the more plausible plan would be to stay at 133, go to the Open and try to win a spot to Final X, try to medal at worlds, then get a bye to the 57kg semis at 2024 OTT in a non-olympic weight? Seems much better than doing an Uncle John suckdown for 6-8 weeks only to have a less than 50% shot at Gilman, no?1 point
-
The turnaround from NCAAs to the US Open is very tight and Fix would have to be already in his descent at NCAAs if he plans to give 57 a shot. Remember, with the new rules any weight with a returning medalist sits in Final X and that weight class will not have a world team trials tourney; the US Open winner faces the incumbent medalist (Gilman) at Final X. The alternative would be that he certified at 125 and plans to hold that weight for multiple weeks which seems like a very tall task.1 point
-
Fix is probably staying at 61 this year given the tight turnaround from NCAAs to US Open since there is no WTT at 57. So what about the inverse - does Lee bump up in February? If he does and he wins, does he get the Hodge?1 point

I strongly suspect that simply means the defense contractors' lobbyists are better at filling the pockets of the scumbags we (somehow) keep sending to DC than some other lobbyists. Those others are pretty good too though.1 point
