  2. Imagine Calipari with some of his super frosh. Going 31-0 in the regular season then sitting his three super frosh for the postseason. Having them suit up but sit the bench in actual red shirts. Kentucky is down by six with three minutes to go in the SEC finals. Whoever they are playing nails a three to go up by nine. He looks over at his assistant and gives the solemn, yet assertive nod. BOOM! One of the super frosh yank their redshirt off and go to the table to rotate in. Kentucky wins the SEC championship on a last second DUNK! National Semi-finals come along. Kentucky is down six again and once again their opponent (a different one) nails a three to go up by nine - only this time there is onky two and a half minutes to go. Calipari with the nod again... BLAMMO! Superfrosh #2 yanks off his actual red shirt and checks in to thr game. Kentucky down by two and Frosh#2 throws up a prayer to Frosh#1 and BOOM! Dunk and a foul! He sinks the foup and they win. NCAA finals. Calipari shoots down the media before the game that he is going to pull superfrosh#3's shirt. He is confident. Even says he may not even sit with thel courtside, but he is obviously joking. Two minutes to go. Down by two this time, but their opponent shoots up a three. Gets fouled and makes it. Puts them down six. OMFG THERE IS THE NOD! HE JACK NICHOLSONED THAT SUMBICH! SUPERFROSH#3 GOES HULKAMANIAC AND SHREDS HIS SHIRT! HE IS IN THE GAME! Kentucky scores 16 unanswered points in two minutes and wins by ten. Impressive. All three enter the draft because they are pissed over having been put on redshirt in the postseason anyways. Experiment failed? Or succeeded? Both?

  4. Don't know about that but next time I get a speeding ticket in Illinois I'm gonna sue via the national equity law cause I can go 75 in Kansas & Missouri but its posted 70 on the same interstate in Illinois. It just ain't equitable!

  5. When they change the speed limit do people sue because they used to be able to go faster? When they made the Heil rule going into his senior year, did he sue because he used to be able to look at the lights without penalty?

  9. It is simply a final ranking, taking into account world championships, based on number of points earned. Done, simple, easy. Crazy how hard this was to figure out.

  11. for fucks sake they tally all the points from the 4 ranking tourneys and worlds. then they come up with the rankings/standings you are complaining about now. then they remove all points except for those earned at worlds. then they start over. this isn't fucking hard. (that's what she said)

  12. the option to go with one of three weight categories is a trainwreck. you're going to have states with those three and a few states with their own version. then, what does USAW do? Then what does, say S32 do. Then you have international / UWW weights. it creates a ton of issues the most important of which is a universal product and the least of which is a pain in the ass for rankings.

  16. I was looking to re-calc my NCAA all-time leading scorers to do it on a per match basis. I noticed that from 1981-1984 Jim Zalesky wrestled 23 NCAA tournament matches (6,5,6,6). That is the most I have seen so far, but I am only looking at the list of high scorers which generally means that you have won some titles. It occurs to me that the max number of matches it was possible to win would have been 32 (8 per year). This was possible from the mid-1980's to the mid-1990's when there were both full wrestlebacks and more than 32 wrestlers in many brackets. To wrestle 32 matches you would need to place in the 3-8 range and be in a championship pigtail match every year. So my question is, has anyone wrestled more than Zalesky's 23 NCAA tournament matches?

  18. The media lies have a substantial influence on young women voting behavior. While most people agree that abortion should be situationally legal, the media would have women believe that the evil Republicans will issue a comprehensive ban. The lies are so effective that in states like Kansas, where abortion is legal, even Republican women believed they were losing their rights. When the media generates a shitstorm about tiny percentages, stupid people do what stupid people do.

  21. Not sure I can easily explain but you can increase the possible number of cons matches when the pigtails are symmetric top to bottom. On my phone, don't feel like looking it up but this might be what happened here.

  30. Thank you for considering the 'Board Bets' concern and thank you for moving the link to a lower spot. I hate to be a nag but really would you please think about putting it beneath the Women's Wrestling link? To say it plainly: When 'Board Bets' appears above 'Women's Wrestling' it looks as if Intermat views board bets as being more important. This looks like a dumbass Flo move, wholly inconsistent with Intermat's thoughtful approach. Board bets are niche and they're extraneous; women's wrestling is awesome, popular, important. Please move Women's Wrestling up a notch.

  33. @Dark Energy credit yourself for the genesis of it. i feel (in a lot of different aspects of the world) that we add layers of rules that make things really out of whack that we should often times just revert to very simple structures.

  37. It’s a sound idea. I think not accepting Olympic redshirts will actually be the hardest pill to get coaches and the NCAA to agree to Then the next question is.. how are medical redshirts handled? Because getting that accepted will be almost as hard. I really think people’s view of this is super warped because of the Covid years.. And this is where I might offend some people.. but a lot of the.. vitriol seems to come from either not getting the same chances or because it doesn’t work that way in hs

  40. I agree. I think people really don’t want to address the fact a lot of coaches think building an effective program means making them run till they puke. I think the numbers issue would be still a thing but nowhere near as bad if coaches stopped trying to be what they “think” Gable was.

  41. I guess I'll also add my thoughts on the weight classes. I'm and old fogie and really they don't matter as long as we have a wide range of weights. Anyone that complains about the weight classes is doing so based on their immediate experiences and most likely how their team is shaping up today and the future. There are years coaching where I wanted the old 103 start weight and years I wish the start weight was 110. There are years where I would have loved having 6 weights 170 on up and years where I wish there were 2! In my area we might have trouble filling 182lbs, but in others they may have trouble filling 106lbs. The bottom line is the weight classes won't do much to affect the forfeit issue that is there. Reducing the number of weights just gives coaches an artificial bump in saying their reduced forfeits and they'll keep doing the same things with recruiting and retention. The NFHS and NWCA need to focus more on educating coaches and working on retention of athletes more than the weight classes. If we do a better job of retaining athletes we will see a reduction in forfeits more than changing the weights will ever do.
