No high profile schools in pursuit says a lot. I'm still calling a transfer to Rider by the end of his eligibility, this has happened too many times before with troubled northeast blue chips to convince me otherwise.

It’s a beautiful place. I actually drove past the trail head parking lot this morning going to the family farm around daylight. The parking lot was almost full.

if you go, make sure you don’t park where there are no parking signs. Not trying to be funny but during the fall, it happens and you will get towed. I’ve seen cops have 6-8 tow truck lined up and hauling cars off. There’s a shuttle service too but not sure how that works but it’s probably on the Roanoke County website.
There is a new bridge from the parking lot over route 311 to the trail. I haven’t been in years since I did trail runs but, depending on your condition level, it’s moderately difficult and maybe a 4 mile trip each way.
I highly recommend being at the knob before daylight or near sunset, it’s stunning if the weather cooperates.
You can also do a much further hike with two vehicles from tinker cliffs to McAfee’s
Dragon’s tooth is another worthy option just down route 311

I used to ride down Craig Creek, hang a right on 311, then take another right on Bradshaw in Mason Cove to get back to Blacksburg.

Also did a boat load of rides at Carvins Cove and Douthat.

Small world.

Small world indeed. Carvins Cove is a great resource. I’m not a mountain biker but did a few 25k trail runs there that started and end at Loch Haven but had about 13 miles of trail running in the cove.

Douthat is absolutely beautiful. I did a trail marathon there. The view at the top of Blue Suck trail (I think that’s what it was called) is amazing.

Some prefer cities, some prefer college towns.  Blacksburg is a great college town.  Chapel Hill has none of the big city benefits with none of the quaintness of a college town.

I’ve only been to Chapel Hill once but I thought it was a pretty cool “college town.”   Also nearby Raleigh & Durham if you want “city benefits”

*Probably* back on topic.  Dylan Palacio gives some perspective that might explain things.

Sorry what does this explain about Knox?  Are you suggesting he needed a 4.0 at community college to get in but didn’t get it?

I'm just saying that Palacio, who went through what was likely the same scenario (wasn't initially accepted and needed grades from TCCC), said he needed a 4.0 (not a 3.0) to get accepted.  Nobody knows exactly what terms were given to Knox.  Getting a 3.0 from TCCC seems pretty lame to raise one's qualifications to get into Cornell, wrestling laurels notwithstanding.

I got the point, was also just giving credit to Rider for what they do

This kid was right there in the conversation with Blaze, Forrest and Bassett at one time. Now you never see him mentioned anywhere near the names of those guys. I really didn't follow his recruitment all that much, especially after he committed, but is there a TL;DR or is it simply the fight he got into at states?

scuttlebutt is that he didn't do well enough during his greyshirt year at community college to get his resume past the cornell admissions office. i'm sure the pending charges didn't help but it's unclear if they hurt (innocent until proven guilty etc.)

as for unc academics, it is my wife's alma mater and was a great school while we were in college. i'm sure some of the programs are still top notch but the powers that be in the state have spent a decade degrading the school on purpose out of open hostility to the humanities.

Knox said he had no hard feelings towards Cornell and appreciated his time there.

“It was super beneficial,” said Knox. “They are a great program. I still talk to the guys, I like them a lot, the coaches were great. It didn’t work out the way we thought, and that’s OK. They’re still a great program.

“My class is really, really good, and I wish them nothing but the best. I got better at wrestling. I worked with (world champion) Vito (Araujo) a ton and it was a super-stacked room. I’ll look back at the positives.”

I will reluctantly agree that this was a good response from him.

Why "reluctantly?"  Other than the into-the-stands episode, I've found Knox to be respectful and thoughtful
in his words and actions. I wish him no ill.

So Knox reportedly gets a huge pay day..........Going to a team that MAY finish top 10 next year. (Currently 19th on Intermat this season)

Obviously nice for the Knox family, but is this good or bad for the sport? I think of it like a middle of the road MLB team like the Royals sign a big name all star for a huge $100 mil plus deal to only maybe finish 3rd in the division. Perhaps they just want a face of the program for 4 years and put some butts in seats.

Why would it be bad for the sport ? So bc Rutgers isn’t going to knock off penn state Knox shouldn’t go there? 6 years ago Rutgers had 2 ncca champs and finished top 10 at ncaas , in years since they’ve been a solid dual squad nd the main thing they’d been missing is the big point scorer in the lineup

Great freaking statement.  As if parity in a sport is a bad thing?

If nothing else, it will 100% boost ratings for every Rutgers dual where he is facing a solid guy. I'm personally not tuning into many Rutgers duals, but he will make me want to watch just for 125.
