Over the past few weeks, speculation surrounding former Nittany Lion Carter Starocci has surged among Penn State wrestling fans and on social media. The controversy stemmed from the posts of his former teammate Beau Bartlett and his wife, Sydney Bartlett, alleging the five-time national champion was the subject of a Penn State police investigation.

The Daily Collegian obtained texts confirming the Penn State University Police and Public Safety (UPPS) was investigating an incident regarding a break-in and theft of Bartlett’s locker in the Lorenzo Wrestling Center (LWC) last December, which Bartlett believes was an act of retaliation by Starocci.

In late 2024, the Bartletts allege they were made aware of a sexual assault allegation against Starocci. Sydney said this wasn’t the first she had heard of it.

Jane, a woman who requested anonymity due to concerns about unwanted attention, told the Collegian Starocci first began pursuing her via Instagram direct messages in 2023 while she was 17 and Starocci was 22. She said Starocci invited her to his home and the LWC sauna multiple times, knowing her age.

“I am doing this in an attempt to stop my assailant from attacking more young girls, ” she said.

After arriving for her freshman year at Penn State, she accepted Starocci’s invites to the LWC gym, where he met her at night alone or with a training partner present. She said Starocci allowed her into the wrestling team’s locker room and sauna on multiple occasions.

“He had groomed me to feel comfortable with him,” Jane said. “The whole experience feels extremely manipulating.”

In the fall semester, she visited Starocci’s home after he invited her to watch a movie, where she alleges Starocci raped her twice. She said the last time she saw him after that night was when she asked him to purchase her an emergency contraceptive pill the next morning.

Why are you trying so hard to pretend this is a thing. The school, the police, the team looked into it and you know what the result was? The school named him athlete of the year, the town of Eerie honored him and renamed a street after him, he’s signed to NLWC which Beau claimed wouldn’t happen. And the reason you aren’t hearing anymore about this it is because starocci is suing them for slander. Starocci is in the room practicing every week and not one teammate has said anything or has a problem with it. The writer (another friend of beaus) submitted the article then immediately quit his job ,hopped on a plane and went on vacation.

I’m not pretending anything.   It’s their web site.  Why did they leave it up.  Do they want bad publicity for a completely exonerated athlete?

there are a ton of new fans on the site.  Maybe they didn’t see the news.  Just reporting what’s on a psu run site boss 

Carl or psu could denounce the accusations no?

I don’t recall.  But I don’t recall being the one bringing this up.  You can check if you like.

Often times sexual harassment goes unpunished / not charged because the victims do not feel safe testifying or maybe even embarrassed.  Do you know what the victims did or did not do as part of this investigation?   Did Cstar cooperate ?     Did the victim in Aj pinto Ferrari retract her statements for some reason ?  
 

I don’t think some rando poster on the mat.com has any inside info on this other than they’re a blue goggled psu fanboy.

What was I proven wrong about? The entire happy valley knows Erik Gibson was the friend in the article. It isn’t mystery. And no not at all bc he did leave the job when the article dropped , if he went back he went back, it doesn’t change anything , over 6 months of police and the school investigating and they found no evidence of anything and yet you continue to slander Starocci and call me an idiot.

i know you are really hoping for this to be true but outside of that article not a single damn person came forward and said anything about Starocci. If he was this devious sexual predator I’m sure women from all over the campus would’ve came forward right? But no nothing , instead a city in Pennsylvania honored him and renamed a street after him

Yea I’m a penn state fan boy now. You have the IQ of a handball guy. Yes I do know bc if any person came forward an allegation that needed to be further investigated they wouldn’t have named him athlete of the year, signed him to the NLWC , he wouldn’t have had a street named after him and he wouldn’t be suing the Bartlett bc that opens him up to discovery. The only “victim” here is Beau bc he got bullied for being corny 

 

the AJ case got dropped bc of the nonstop attacks from the Ferrari camp on the victim, that obviously didn’t happen here bc there is no victim just made up names in a dying college newspaper 

 

also ESPN , Sports Illustrated and other major outlets all looked into the story and no one thought it had any legs or credibility and didn’t pick it up, that should tell you alone there’s nothing to it

You don't know jack and you have nothing to backup anything you say. There were two teammates other than Beau mentioned in the article. 

You don't know what the police investigated or what they did or did not find. The only public investigation was into the stolen watch and apparently Carter did not cooperate with the investigators. 

Numerous women talked to the reporter about Carter's alleged misdeeds, some of whom were not mentioned in the article. The writer discussed this fact on Twitter after the article was published.

You have to real dumb SOB to think his hometown naming a street after him has anything at all to do with his guilt or innocence. 

We've certainly never seen a serial sexual abuser get away with it and enjoy success and praise despite the open secrets about them. Never a financier or a tech founder or a media mogul and certainly never a politician.

The whole thing is discredited , you don’t think espn is going to jump at the chance to report on a coverup and sexual assault scandal with Penn state athletics with the best wrestler of all time as the coach in the middle of a dynasty? Based on the news from penn state insiders Carter has filed a lawsuit and it happened around the same time the Bartlett stopped posting and talking about the situation, you can find info on this topic on the Penn state forum.
