It's amazing how Iowa fans like the pastry are twisting themselves into knots that Bassett "looked good" losing.  He's going to look "great" in college then when he can't physically bully other wrestlers.

Now the pastry is pointing out that Mirasola only had pushouts on Mocco as a slam on Mirasola instead of the fact that a non-physical heavyweight was able to physically manhandle their other prized recruit.

The cope is getting more and more exaggerated.     Bassett "looked good" losing, Mocco had takedowns while getting horsed around despite a weight advantage...  even a future potential recruit in Miller "won" by not getting destroyed by Duke.    The only thing all three shared was losing.

Bassett loses to Stanich - What can you expect, he's a HS Junior wrestling someone who has been in a college room for years.

Bassett decommits from Iowa - He's almost ready for an AARP card.

Go back and look.  I bad mouthed his age long before his Iowa commitment.   I stand by my comment.  He can vote and serve in the military as a junior in high school and there is something wrong with that.

Have to wonder how being with JB all week for the Alliseeisgold camp is playing into this process. JB seemed to really enjoy his time in stillwater and is obviously not the biggest PSU fan. Bo also has a camp in stillwater in the next few days.

Ironically, if Bo hadn't reclassified before his freshman year, he would be on campus training in the Iowa room as we speak.

Very true,Technically he is slightly older then when I started my sophomore year in college.

I'm sorry but there is zero chance that "not getting a handful of free flights" is the reason Bo decommitted. Absolutely zero. That's a cover, I don't care what any social media warriors or wrestling content creators say about it.

My biggest question in all this, is did Bo and family expect for all in involved to live in the Hawkeye family room until they all hit the ground and after? Meaning come train whenever for however long? 1 yrs worth for Bo, 2 for Melvin and 3 for Keegan? It’s not making sense. Outside of Spenser and Desanto who else is making moves on the seniors circuit? Caliendo wrestled recently but not often. Eierman left Mizzou saying the move can help his aspirations to win Olympic medals and he’s not been doing anything of note for how long? Yes could they make the bassetts better, most likely, but I would guess there are clubs, high schools or other rooms in the PA area that probably have high level training partners closer to home. It’s just not making sense. The Iowa room is good, but it’s not top tier compared to others. It would make more sense if he went to Colorado Springs for the year, EAP program or whatever it’s called.

Is it possible he got "guaranteed" signing money that vested after a specific time & now that time has passed? If so, he can do the whole show again & make even more money.

Does he give refunds to any of those who bought his I Love Iowa gear?

Nobody, including papa Bassett, is saying that was the reason for the fallout

To keep things brief, from what I gathered, Bill Bassett wanted Bo and Melvin to train at the RTC whenever (and, according to rumors, that the expenses should be covered by someone else). Tom said the compliance department said no. I've also have read repeatedly that Bill Bassett either 1) wanted to have a say in/influence over how training was conducted or 2)offered his unsolicited opinion on how training should be conducted. I've read and heard a bunch of other unsubstantiated claims on what else was demanded but I think that is all hokey.

My uninformed opinion is that tensions have been brewing for quite some time and this was just the latest incident that led to a final snap

I think it is important to look at his entire body of work.  What if I used Chris Pendleton to say Ben Askren isn't actually a good scrambler

Ok...Ramos wasn't the only one to beat Lee. Askren had 7 losses in his career I believe(out of 8 matches) all to Pendleton. That number may be off, but it's close. I think Askren got one on him.

I pointed out there were multiple Wrestlers who came out and got a TD on Lee and that even the great fluke, that same Wrestler...who was not a 2X National Champ, he'd done it before.

I've been reading people here talking about Spencer being a great scrambler as well thinking, "what guy did they watch?" I think Spencer Lee is an unbelievable talent, but he was very meat and potatoes as far as wrestling goes. I can say the same about Zain Retherford. They dominated guys but I don't think about scrambling ability when I think about them. Spencer Lee had amazing fundamentals paired with insane grip strength that allowed him to dominate guys. Spencer definitely had a crack in his amor though and if you could exploit it you could beat him.

Yeah, I'm with you.

I'd say the same about Starocci. Some guys don't put themselves in those positions and they're good enough to control the match so they don't need to. But Zain's an even better example.

The biggest difference between those two, Zain and Lee is Lee would come out a little...overly aggressive and that's why he'd get taken down early at times. I'd be surprised if Zain gave up more than a couple TDs in his career... and one was vs a 4X Champ.

^^This^^

According to Keegan Bassett, "all (the Bassett camp) wanted was... what other top recruits were getting"  and according to Bo this was not NIL related.

I am not sure what other benefits a recruit, 1 year prior to graduating, can receive that is not NIL related.

Most likely, PSU kept recruiting Bo and convinced him to flip and the "not feeling the love" "Brand's yelled at my mommy" stories are just a cover to save face for someone who is very image/brand conscious.

I know I said earlier I thought it was more just about the ability to train there, but honestly the Keegan (probably Bill on the wrong profile) post actually does make me think maybe it did have something to do with funding the travel.  Because I’m not sure if they’d really consider just the ability to practice as “getting something.”

This one is for you @BruceyB

tell me again that it’s normal?

About 3% of U.S. high school juniors are 18 years old or older during their junior year.

According to National Center for Education Statistics–based estimates:

  • Around 63% of juniors are 16 years old

  • About 14% are 17

  • A smaller group — roughly 3% — are 18 or older

edit

👉 Estimate: Perhaps 0.5–1% of juniors are 18 due to sports reclassification.

Great question

The remaining 20% are 15 years old or younger, typically due to early school start or grade acceleration

Is this a random AI google search because you didn't want to find a credible source? So 77% of Juniors are 16 or 17, and 3% are 18 or older.. where are the other 20%?

Also, how do you "define" what age a kid is when they are more likely than not to have a birthday in the given school year? The standard Junior begins the year at 16 years old, and turns 17 at some point during the school year, so are they a 16 or 17 as a junior?

And never once have I said that Bo is "normal" age for his class. I have always stated that he is 1 year and 1 month older than a typical senior with a September birthday (like I was myself) in his class. He is not 2 years older than his class (or more) as people like to suggest.

Honestly, I shouldn't have bothered responding. You'll continue to fixate on his age "advantage" despite the fact that he has had significant success in freestyle where he has won multiple world medals competing against his own "age" and was actually a first year 20u wrestler when he won a bronze medal.

That is absolutely not true. I would almost guarantee that more students have a delayed school start than are started early. Try a new AI service.

Don’t make it any less weird to be a military aged junior.  Or any of these other dudes that pull the same shenanigans.

I wasn't able to find any sources that I'd consider "credible" but if you do a simple good search, it suggests that nearly all high school juniors are 16 and will turn 17 during the school year with the exception being early starts/those who skipped a grade/those held back (which is a negligible number as a whole) there is not a remote chance that 20% of high school juniors are the same age I was as a traditional freshman.

Exactly. It’s all deflection and it’s Iowas fault. Ok, whatever little bro. Entitlement is fine but don’t package it like you’re some kind of victim.

Your AI is hallucinating (the AI industry's attempt to rebrand "making shiit up"). There is no way 20% are 15 or under.

Let’s not obsess about the data that we don’t care about.  We care how weird it is to skip a grade or two to get an athletic advantage over your peers.
