I kinda agree. I didn't think he was a great scrambler.

Even the first Ramos match that year, he was taken down, put on his back...then either put on his back again or taken down again, but I thought it was 8-0 or 8-1.

I didn't think he was great on his feet. He was more than good enough, but if you're saying "as complete as a wrestler as one can think of," then...I don't see it.

He gave up TDs a few times that year on early scrambles. For a guy who was SO dominant... that seemed like a weakness.

At LEAST relative to the rest of his Wrestling.

I've been reading people here talking about Spencer being a great scrambler as well thinking, "what guy did they watch?" I think Spencer Lee is an unbelievable talent, but he was very meat and potatoes as far as wrestling goes. I can say the same about Zain Retherford. They dominated guys but I don't think about scrambling ability when I think about them. Spencer Lee had amazing fundamentals paired with insane grip strength that allowed him to dominate guys. Spencer definitely had a crack in his amor though and if you could exploit it you could beat him.

Uncle Chael weighs in.

Chael offered him $1 million for his “NIL rights” (not sure what that’s even supposed to mean, TBH), and the Bassett’s didn’t even respond?  I think that gives credibility to the $5 million number…

Pretty sure he was injured both years. He just didn't make a public statement that "I'm injured, but excuses are for wusses." Instead, he kept quiet and wrestled on one leg . . . twice.

Oh no... Cardinale's knee was very much talked about... the next year, which would be the year after he taunted injured Lee while being down by more than a touchdown.

Not necessarily if they considered the source.

He really sounds like a clown.

Look, every program has black eyes.

I think Minnesota is an exceptionally well run program and clean. They had their legendary, Championship Coach run out for covering up drug dealing.

So calling Iowa(he says us) the most ethical program all-time...it's silly.

He also acts like Bassett said Iowa is a 2nd tier program and they don't know how to win given how he claimed Bo attacked them on the way out...

The most ethical program that was founded by flat out cheating.

Their entire history is based on documented and verified disregard for NCAA rules.

They should have had a bunch of titles stripped.   Even today, ask schools like Arizona State how ethical Iowa is.

Not a good place?  Where did he say Iowa is "not a good place"?

I must have missed that.  Can you quote that for me?  All I saw was him saying it wasn't a good fit, which of course is entirely different since it isn't a qualitative judgment as "not a good place" is.  If he said Iowa isn't a good place, then I'll agree he badmouthed them.

I also missed where he said it wasn't a good place for him "as . . . a Christian".   I'd agree it was harsh if he said Iowa isn't a good place for Christians.  But all I saw is him saying it wasn't a good fit for his own faith journey, which is of course personal to Bo.

The fact that Bo doesn't think Iowa is a good fit in more ways than one doesn't mean he's taking shots at Iowa.  It just means there's a lack of fit on multiple levels.  None of it judges Iowa in any way.  No more than he previously found (implicitly) that every other program besides Iowa wasn't the right fit, since Iowa was.

Come on Vak.  If you find it necessary to twist the words of an 18 year old kid to make the case that he's badmouthing Iowa, then that should tell you his actual words don't get you there.  Maybe that should be the point where you pause to say, hmmm, maybe this is just grapes at the kid's expense.

You want to complain about his pop, I'll give you some sympathy, but you can't possibly think that Bo himself is out there taking shots at Iowa.

LOL.  You're just being intentionally obtuse here as opposed to just reading the words with context.  What he said was a shot at Iowa.  Everybody but you seems to acknowledge it.  And he's allowed to take that shot ad may even be justified (although most of the scuttlebutt suggests not), but don't piss on me and swear it's raining.

After trying to get "all sides' of this story I have no clue where Bo will end up. Hey its a huge topic of conversation, so nice work Bassett family on getting back into the epicenter of attention. Where ever he ends up, i'm putting it right now at 50% he still transfers again anyway in the next 4-5 years.

Why stop there?  Since Iowa fans ALREADY think Bo's "not the right fit" explanation was "nasty," a "shot" against the Hawks, and "an unethical attack" against the most ethical program since the beginning of time, let's hope Bo now feels liberated to say EXACTLY why, in detail, Iowa not the right fit for what he wants in wrestling, what he wants as a person, and how they are not compatible with his faith journey.

Details, Bo, details!  They already think you're a liar and a traitor, so no reason to hold back now, right?  Your 200K followers want to know!  Explain in detail to all the up-and-coming recruits who idolize you, and don't leave out a single description of how Iowa fell short of your expectations.

They burned the bridge, so what do you have to lose?

Iowa fans = one guy (Chael Sonnen)? Okay then. Don't think I've seen anyone else saying that.

I think it is important to look at his entire body of work.  What if I used Chris Pendleton to say Ben Askren isn't actually a good scrambler

Shoot, there's several in this thread alone!  They all say he's taking shots at Iowa. Or just look at the comment section to Chael's video, and witness all the Iowa fans opening fire on a high school junior.  Look at the Iowa Rivals forum, and how it's open season on this kid. To quote one Iowa fan from this thread, "Everybody but you seems to acknowledge it."

So let 'em have it, Bo.  Details.  Tell it to all the up and coming recruits who follow your every word.  Don't feel bad:  You tried to take the high road, but Iowa turned on you.  They drew first blood.

Bassett loses to Stanich - What can you expect, he's a HS Junior wrestling someone who has been in a college room for years.

Bassett decommits from Iowa - He's almost ready for an AARP card.

I’m not an Iowa fan, but his post most certainly was a shot.

And he is no longer a high school junior.

As opposed to the reverse that has been happening with the anti-Iowa contingent, where after he committed he was probably already topped out and is nowhere near as good a prospect as Blaze, Forrest, etc , but now Iowa is losing out on a program-changer.  Yeah, duh, welcome to online discourse.

It's amazing how Iowa fans like the pastry are twisting themselves into knots that Bassett "looked good" losing.  He's going to look "great" in college then when he can't physically bully other wrestlers.

Now the pastry is pointing out that Mirasola only had pushouts on Mocco as a slam on Mirasola instead of the fact that a non-physical heavyweight was able to physically manhandle their other prized recruit.

The cope is getting more and more exaggerated.     Bassett "looked good" losing, Mocco had takedowns while getting horsed around despite a weight advantage...  even a future potential recruit in Miller "won" by not getting destroyed by Duke.    The only thing all three shared was losing.

Go back and look.  I bad mouthed his age long before his Iowa commitment.   I stand by my comment.  He can vote and serve in the military as a junior in high school and there is something wrong with that.

Have to wonder how being with JB all week for the Alliseeisgold camp is playing into this process. JB seemed to really enjoy his time in stillwater and is obviously not the biggest PSU fan. Bo also has a camp in stillwater in the next few days.

Ironically, if Bo hadn't reclassified before his freshman year, he would be on campus training in the Iowa room as we speak.

Very true,Technically he is slightly older then when I started my sophomore year in college.

I'm sorry but there is zero chance that "not getting a handful of free flights" is the reason Bo decommitted. Absolutely zero. That's a cover, I don't care what any social media warriors or wrestling content creators say about it.

My biggest question in all this, is did Bo and family expect for all in involved to live in the Hawkeye family room until they all hit the ground and after? Meaning come train whenever for however long? 1 yrs worth for Bo, 2 for Melvin and 3 for Keegan? It’s not making sense. Outside of Spenser and Desanto who else is making moves on the seniors circuit? Caliendo wrestled recently but not often. Eierman left Mizzou saying the move can help his aspirations to win Olympic medals and he’s not been doing anything of note for how long? Yes could they make the bassetts better, most likely, but I would guess there are clubs, high schools or other rooms in the PA area that probably have high level training partners closer to home. It’s just not making sense. The Iowa room is good, but it’s not top tier compared to others. It would make more sense if he went to Colorado Springs for the year, EAP program or whatever it’s called.
