The "experts" were right... advantage to the un-injured wrestler.

Wow.

Jax Forrest is your 61Kg rep at the Worlds.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Well done Jax!

Whoa, Flo.  Camera blocked by coaches doing the oh so surprising -- standing up during flurries on the mat to coach, with no backup plan for another camera or moving that camera.  And while hands are being raised an ad pops up and drowns out commentators commentating.  Bummer - but Flo gotta Flo I guess.

So what does it look like for a senior world team member to be wrestling in High School? How on earth is it fair in anyway next year for him or his opponents. Seems like a wasted year when he can clearly win a NCAA title now!

Just a joke on this one -- I really like the Cornell team and Dake, Yianni, and Vito all seem like nice guys so I'm bummed to see none of them get through this year. With that said crazy huge for Jax and OSU

Vito clearly out of sorts. Started the second match looking better so maybe it was a weight issue. Who knows? Anyhow it wasn’t prime Vito.
Jax earned it though. That stuff at the end - acting like a high school kid 😂

Good on him! Congrats to the kid.

Bragging rights and a big ego to whoever gets the straight scoop on what’s been up with Vito.

Minnow was saying Vito would dominate so I bet he’ll have an excuse teed up soon 🙂

This happened in the middle of action. Not during a break. Vito put his hands on his knees, dropped his head and looked straight down. I actually thought Vito might just literally just stop wrestling and leave the mat at this point. It was clear he didn't want to be there anymore and had realized he couldn't win in his current state.

It was hard to watch.  After watching Vito slump off the mat in the first match, while Jax skipped off, the result of the second match seemed like a sure thing.

It's been a while since I've seen a wrestler whose cardio was that bad.  I don't want to judge since we all know Vito is coming off some sort of injury, but dang, I can't help but wonder if there was something else Vito could have done while he was getting wrestling-ready to keep his cardio up.  Ride a bike, swimming, anything?  Both matches his tank was empty at the 4 minute mark.

Truly. I'm surprised that he even competed for the spot if that was the kind of shape he was in. Hopefully things work out and he can heal fully and be back to his old self.

Yes, Vito has so much potential, but it appears Jax does as well.   What an incredible performance.

Because you would have to literally kill a world champ before they would just let someone take their spot due to an injury. Big props to Vito and hoping for a full recovery. The cumulative toll on a world champion's body cannot be overstated or understood by anyone on a message board.

I'll repost what I said in the Final X predictions thread, sadly match #1 makes me fear I was right about his health:

"I don't know of any specifics, but he talked recently about having nerve and stinger issues.  Plus he had surgery late last year for his hand/fingers I believe.  Now maybe he's fully healed and I sure hope so, but it just seems like he hasn't been right since he won Worlds.  Couple all that with the time off and I just don't feel like we'll see peak Vito at Final X. "

That aged very well. Agree with your point about not seeming right post World but he was on a helluva run there.  Just seems like both he and Yiannis opponents were extremely well prepared. Both PJ and Jx had near perfect counters ready to go.

Since Marcus Blaze was second in line behind Forrest for the 61 kg. U23 slot is Marcus allowed to claim the spot now, thus allowing Cornella the opportunity to take the 65 kg. slot that Marcus claimed before Forrest made the World Team?

Forrest will still be going to U23s, much like Duke.

Why? I have no horse in the race. I'm just thinking how good Jax will be in 2028. The more time at the senior World level the better.

Because at the end of the day I think we can agree we all want to see two guys at their absolute best compete for a spot and that's clearly not what we got today.
