Not a bad night, we got Dake in the finals, and with Zain, Corey and Wyatt all in the hunt for Bronze.

Bo Bassett and SnyderMan, Wow, Fantastic! SnyderMan wins the bracket of insanity, and Bo, does something that we haven’t done in like forever at 65 Kg. Huge wins!

I have to admit, I was worried, but they are no long in the Semis, they are now both in the finals! Amazing.

Holy smokes Batman, this has been a spectacular night!

Well that’s a little harsh, but yeah I think that we should be much better than we are.

Well, unfortunately U.S. Greco has gotten off to a slow start, hopefully things turn around for us. I know this has little to do with what is occurring now, but I was just at the U23’s and I watched our Greco guys, and for the most part appeared to be game, the problem I saw was that as our guys progressed through their bracket they would get beat in a situation or two. So I guess this is my way of saying that if things don’t turn around, USA Wrestling has to take a hard look at our Greco program and make some changes. Yes I know that there’s a laundry list of issues but we have to checking some of these things off the list.

I hope that I am wrong, but I believe that we are in for some tough sledding here.

Well, I am certainly concerned. I think after watching U23’s all week, I think we are in for a tough time.

Well I looked at the UWW schedule and they have the Senior World’s scheduled for this same venue next September. So I hope it will be better attended. I know that some venues would be better but they may not have the airport, the hotels, and restaurants, so maybe that’s why they chose Vegas. When I went to see the 2015 Worlds at the Orleans it was a ghost town for Greco and the Women, but it got packed for MFS. Anyway I hope people will attend and support our team and our sport.

Well Davino, won the Gold, but the way he wrestled made it closer than it should have been. James I think was just a little bit overmatched, but great effort to make the finals. Rademacher wrestled really well, and made the finals, so great job. Merrill steamrolled his guy for the Bronze. He wrestled like we are used to seeing our guys perform. Congrats to him. We will have to see what Lillendahl can do tomorrow, as well as Rademacher.

Shumate, was doing very well, unfortunately I believe that he tore his pec against Italy. Which was a double tragedy, besides the injury he was clearly better than his opponent. Hopefully he can heal quickly

Yet, some kids still make it, and I hope that we see a new renaissance of talent, like Snyder and Burroughs. We have young kids like the Jax Forrest’s and many others, too many to name really, that hopefully will prevail. But it’s like any sport, every little kid dreams about being in the Big Leagues, yet so very few make it.

Well I did not know this. When the U.S. Open was being held at the South Point they would have the Western Regional going on at the same time, and it seemed like there were a thousand kids competing. But I am out of the loop so who knows.

I can appreciate this sentiment, but we were senior world team champs only about 20 years ago. That is a huge dropoff. Yeah, and like I have asked before, why the drop off, how come we don’t have any more Joe Warren’s or Matt Lindland’s anymore. I think our last multi medalist is Andy Bisek.

I think he showed his ass a bit when he said their goal is to win "a medal" in 2028 Not multiple medals, not gold medals, just...a medal Well, I don’t know where we stand as a National program, but I am sure that we are near the base of a very large mountain, and it’s going to take quite a bit to get to the top. So who knows when we can accomplish this. But for this tournament I know that we eventually got outclassed, but we did take some positive steps forward.

From the video posted above from our coach, I agree with him. We had 11 wins to 10 losses, and normally we don’t have that many wins in a tournament like this. While it is true that we all wanted better results, but if you told me that before this tournament started that we would get 11 wins, I would have thought cool. I believe that this tournament is a positive, and hopefully we can build from this.
