Is the two piece uniform experiment dead?

Don’t see them much at all after the initial start of the experiment.  A few HS kids here and there.  Anyone see any kind of thoughtful debrief on the experiment?

It is good to experiment.  Also good to pull plug when learning it didn’t work.

Yes. Honestly the singlet was never the reason interested kids would avoid wrestling.

Missouri still uses them sometimes. I don't see a problem with teams offering both. I agree with the other posters I dont think this is the main issue about kids not wanting to try the sport, but seems like a pretty simple easy thing to give a choice

Haha we were at a highschool dual last night and there were a bunch of toddlers running around in singlets. I think when you are comfortable with them from a young age, the "weirdness" of a singlet doesn't ever take root.  It's the kids thinking about starting wrestling after 5th grade that seem to be hesitant.

Not a chance. Bo Basset wears the two piece and that means he's committed.

We use both in the kids club I run. 2-piece looks sharper, but they're more expensive and harder to get a good fit. Kids all want the shirt to fit loose but it's not supposed to be.

They were crappy in the 1960's and are still that now.

Had one of our wrestlers with his short pulled to his ankles while trying an escape - he was iffy before and never came back after it happened in a gym full of kids & parents watching.

The singlet may not be great but it works.

Likewise. I still think fight shorts and shirts would be good. There are a lot of weirdos out there

Yep they used them last weekend against OSU

Any chance that the NCAA would switch back to shorts and no top? I think competing in just MMA-style shorts would be more marketable than the singlet.

I'm in favor of anything to protect the kids more.  two-piece should be used for youth absolutely.  I suppose adults can wear what they want.

T shirt sleeves are harder to grab than a bare shoulder in a singlet, right? That part seems weird, uniforms shouldn’t get an advantage. But beyond that I say let em wear what they want

It's not the only reason, but if you think that a junior high kid who isn't familiar with the sport isn't offput by wearing a singlet in front of his classmates, you are mistaken. It has always been, and will continue to be a barrier to bringing fringe kids into the sport.

A two piece looks sharp until the shirt rides up and the heavyweights muffin-top is exposed.

Not a fan of the two piece from day 1.   If you have been on this board for a long time, you might remember there were a lot of people who wanted the two piece and how it was such a great thing for kids who were embarrassed to wear the singlet. We needed to make kids more comfortable so more kids were going to wrestle. Singlet guys for the win. As a side note, if you want to see some fun stuff, give Nate Engel a follow... his 3 boys wear their Oregon State singlets and head gear everywhere...literally - haha.
