What are some of those most memorable moments from wrestlers who would otherwise often go forgotten?

Marco Vespa nearly putting Spencer Lee on his back with a cradle is one that comes to mind.

Ryan Lange for being Askren's only collegiate loss outside of Pendleton

Ramos over Lee

Caldwell over Metcalf

I wouldn't really classify Ramos or Lee as "forgotten" without their iconic moments.

They were both very good D1 wrestlers that were highly relevant during their careers at their respective weight classes. I'm thinking more along the lines of guys that weren't relevant on the national scene that had a moment.

A few recently that come to mind

2026:

Hepworth vs Messenbrink, Hepworth having the stretcher pulled out for him on the mat, only to shake off what looked like a neck injury and keep wrestling and give Messenbrink one of his toughest matches in the last 2 years.  Just funny to me because I thought he was about MFF out and then I think MM didn’t even bonus him.

Cesar Alvan pinning Dee Lockett was crazy as hell.  Big move

2025:

Blood round 157, Caleb Fish vs Brandon Cannon, went to OT and Fish threw him for the win to AA.

Regular season Iowa vs Nebraska dual when Lenny Pinto and Patrick Kennedy scored like 28 points between them, Pinto went up big, then Kennedy came back big then Pinto put it on again.

Jenkins pinning Taylor in the finals.

Realbuto (Cornell) v Miller (Kent St) -- marathon match where they couldn't get the score right and it was still wrong at the end.

PSU 125 Kuhn getting out to early lead over NATO in PSU/tOSU dual in 2018. Threw him iirc early. ‘Held on’ to only lose by major. Ended up being huge in that dual W for PSU. Think that was only match Kuhn ever wrestled for them.

The thing about hindsight is it's always much clearer. How about an unseeded freshman ACC champ Darrion Caldwell vs Ryan Lang 2007 big ten champ in the NCAA quarters.

Lang got the first period fall but Caldwell had three tds and a nearfall.

DC opened with -30 second fall against a double digit seed. Draws into andy simmons, scores every way but backs to lead when simmons mffs match and career. Draws into top seed Ryan Lang

Lang would lose his undefeated season to nathan morgan in the finals and DC had his season end in the r12 by fall to J jaggers in a six minute barn burner.

Everyone remembers the 149 DC or his senior year ended by injury like simmons, not so much his freshman 141 run that came up short. That place was roaring before and after all of DCs matches that year. He won the crowd for his career there as metcalf was still two years away, and it carried through the salute he was given as a senior.

Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

This post made me think of Tariq Wilson's run in 2028 when he just went nuts on people and took 3rd
