Since this a completely legitimate question, and it seems genuine, I'll give it a shot. I may bounce around a bit. As I stated, it is tough to leave him off. I wouldn't disagree with anyone that says he belongs more than someone else. The 13 World and Olympic medals is a good enough argument on its own. And, unlike some posters that act like what they say is the end all be all, I'm well aware that my opinion doesn't mean a whole bunch. All right, let's get at it...
If we're going strictly by most medals, John Smith would be gone. I believe he belongs due to his 6 straight Golds, 2 being Olympic Gold, and his dominance. I believe Helen Maroulis belongs due to her longevity and overcoming various health issues to win 12 World and Olympic medals, including 3 Olympic medals, one being Gold. And, her absolutely epic win over a true legend of the sport, Saori Yoshida, ending a run of 13 straight World and Olympic Gold medals and denying her of her 4th Olympic Gold. I believe Kyle Snyder belongs due his extreme consistency in earning 11 or 12 World and olympic Medal opportunites, including 6 World and Olympic Gold medals. Many while dealing with the likes of the Abdulrashid Sadulaev. I believe Jordan Burroughs belongs due to his 7 World and Olympic Gold medals with the ones at 74kg coming in some pretty loaded brackets. He was also the face of USA wrestling for many years. I don't have a single bad thing to say about Bruce Baumgartner and again wouldn't argue with anyone if they would prefer his face on the rock. If I can nitpick or give my personal preferences, it's about the weight class and the era prior to the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Regarding the Soviet Union, I understand the same could be said for John Smith. Baumgartner was also amazingly consistent, as well. Can I just have 5 people on the rock?
