  1. I have said this before but I will say it again. There are many reasons that the public schools are failing. None of them include lack of funding($17K+ per student here in KS). Just a few of the many reasons below. 1. No child left behind(one of the reasons why some high schoolers can't read) 2. Lack of Actual Parenting(schools are not your childcare) 3. No student accountability (teachers are not allowed to punish kids for bad behavior and instead are encouraged to use positive reinforcement. That doesn't work. Most kids don't care about rewards, stickers, pizza parties, etc) 4. Qualified teachers are burned out because they are being asked to do too much. They can't educate properly if they are too busy trying to act as an educator, counselor, parent, etc

  3. I think that Russian vs Iran dual was at +2kg allowance. Actually I saw a a little video with Ghasempour today that the federation did with him. In it he says he is very sensitive to cutting weight and his plan was to stay at 92 until 2028 and move down for the olympics. From what he said I got the vibe that the coaches kind of forced/ talked him in to going down earlier than he would have liked. So we will see. I think if it doesn't go great he will go right back up to 92. He beat Aoyagi in the semi final of the Meiji cup ( the second and final stage of their trial) but then lost a match he should have won in the final. Aoyagi had won the Emperor's cup ( which Yamahshita did not participate in) so no matter what happened in the Meiji cup he would get to wrestle the winner for the spot. Yamashita went up to 74kg and he won the all Japan student championship a week or so ago. Not sure if that is their u23 trials or what.

  4. Herman is going 149. Jones is going 157. Herman will battle Carter McCallister (Mizzou transfer) for the spot.

  7. I guess a few things. Firstly, 140+ views and not one researched the validity of the post. Secondly, if they had they would’ve seen the similarities between this and a story about and quoting Reagan in the 60’s. With shockingly similar rhetoric to 47. Attacking the very things that stand in opposition to fundamental conservatism, knowledge and learning. Also, seeing the similarities between the two. Both celebrities made famous by lying to the masses. Convincing them they are someone they are not. Then going into politics attacking the same people their billionaire backers see as the obstacles to more power. Thirdly, what did Reagan do? Killed free or cheap tuition. Limiting higher education to those who could afford it. 47 rails against student loan forgiveness. Loans being a measure put in place as a bandage to address Reagan’s war on education. For some reason people are happy with the result.

  14. 57 - lee 61 - suda as he has momentum 65 - no one repeats at 65, but Kiyooka wrestled Amouzad and Amouzad couldn't really do anything to him. I will take Kiyooka 70 - No clue , maybe Aoyagi 74 - Takahashi - pure hunch 79 - Usmanov - Nokhodi is bound to win this weight at some point as he has been right there these past few years and probably should have won in 2024, but he hasn't wrestled a tournament or even an official match since last years worlds. 86 - Ghasempour 92 - Firouzpour - reasonably confident 97 - Tazudinov - I think he will win and win in style 125 - Zare - the only guy who could actually wrestle him for 6 minutes was Akgul and he is gone. Someone would need to score big points on him very early and put him in a huge points hole( or tech him) to beat him and while it seems he has a match like that once in a while, I don't see it happening in this field.

  15. Even though, the seedings are a result from various wrestlers attending, placing,(AND winning) various ranking tournaments... it IS surprising to see that only FOUR (Lee #1 @ 57Kg, Valencia #4 @ 86Kg, Trent Hidlay #8 @ 92Kg, & Synder #3 @ 97Kg) are seeded. Much like the U20, the Senior World Championships will start off w/ the FS tournament 1st, on Saturday, September 13. (61, 70, 86, and 125 kg) For some... pairing off w/an unseeded American may be a dangerous draw. (Wyatt HENDRICKSON anyone? ) D3

  18. I think you’ve misinterpreted the conversation, again. It’s really been more about the inner city schools and not the “totality of American students across the country.” The fellow you keep criticizing has said repeatedly that he’s mostly referring to the ctu. That would be the Chicago Teachers Union. And Chicago public schools.

  21. 1) your numbers are social media agenda driven BS, intended for blind sheep to run with and parrot. Can you cherry pick this district or that area to find those numbers…of course. But as for totality of American students across the country your parroting is not repeating accurate information. You can spend the next couple of hours finding social media posts to copy if you want to try and combat that but I’d suggest you not waste your time, it’s not convincing. 2) I’ve said in similar discussions on this board the #1 reason for performance decline is parents, and not at all a country full of teachers who don’t care, as you describe. For one, far too many parents these days take the easy route instead of the difficult route. Because allowing kids to play their games and thumb around in Instagram and TikTok is a lot easier than doing the hard work, disciplining their kids to be accountable for their learning, engaging in activities that enhance their learning, getting them outside for exercise, etc. And secondly, more and more parents are setting bad examples for their kids who are sucking up what they see their parents doing. For example, if a parent is spending hours upon hours everyday thumbing social media sites so they can copy and paste for gotcha moments to complete strangers on the internet 1) what kind of example is that setting for the kids and 2) how are they holding the kids accountable for their learning, engaging in activities with them to enhance their learning, etc. As I said, there are definitely a few bad apples in every bunch. But your post wasn’t talking about a few bad apples, your post pointed at the profession of teachers, and it’s bulls**t

  22. It’s not so much that what the NG guard was actually doing in the particular instance that concerns me, it’s the opening of the door of putting the military on our streets for law enforcement activities, and the slippery slope that follows walking through that door. It’s the prospect of slowly normalizing the use of military troops to police citizens that concerns me. As for your question about military police my answer would be no. 1) Because it’s military troops policing citizens on American city streets, and 2) because MP’s are not trained in policing citizens/residents on American streets, they are trained in policing military troops on military bases, etc.

  23. My cousin was a dancer. My neighbor was very tall and this guy I know once knew a teacher. He forgot the teachers name but that’s not relevant. I live in the inner city. And I grew up in the inner city. So farking what. None of that helps you make me understand why less than 20% can read. They don’t need more $ if the kids don’t want to learn. Or if their parents don’t give a shit. We’ve thrown more $ at them for 70 years. I’m not surprised you didn’t read the stat that we threw a ton more per head count at them in the last few years. Guess what. It doesn’t help. Throwing money at kids who don’t show up or want to learn is not good policy or good use of my tax money. Give vouchers to the 20% who show up to learn to go to good schools. Let the 80% eat generic fruit loops and go gang bang or whatever it is they want to do besides learn to read.

  27. Not much has changed in CBUS. I have it looking like this for now. 125 - McCrone until Kilkeary beats him. 133 - Davino until Bouzakis beats him. 141 - Mendez. 149 - Stiles. 157 - Cannon if he can hold the weight (he needs to). 165 - Paddy until Birden or Cannon beat him. 174 - Kharch until injuries or father time beat him. 184 - Fishback. 197 - Shumate until Geog beats him. 285 - Feldman. Some of the Buckeye toons are throwing Wolbert's name around. He committed to OKST before Jax and the Raney Bros... Mendez looks a bit gaunt...

  29. Ghas nearly took Sadulaev out, and it was because I honestly think Sadulaev was surprised with how strong Ghasempour was. That was at 92 KG, but if Ghasempour maintains that strength down 6 KG, there isn't anyone who's going to be able to combat that very well. USA's Valencia might be able to if he can keep from getting under him (sweep singles, etc), but I don't know that he can do that for six minutes - and if he cannot, Ghas will gas Valencia.

  40. No one would have predicted Jordan Burroughs, some random American kid who barely won NCAAs twice to become the best wrestler in US history. No one would have predicted Kyle Snyder to bounce back from a juniors bronze + getting pinned in 90 seconds to becoming the P4P best in the world from 2015-17. No one would have predicted college J'Den Cox to even make OTT or WTT finals at any point with his style, much less have stellar international success. No one would have predicted David Taylor, who was never better than 3rd best domestically at any weight, to pack on 33 pounds and at one point become the P4P best in the world. No one would have predicted Gable Steveson to enter his first senior international tournament and go absolutely gangbusters on the olympic bracket. Then again, no one predicted Wyatt Pindrickson to beat him a few months ago. There is precedent. It is an intimidating changing of the guard, and following our renaissance generation is certainly intimidating. But if I have learned anything this season, it's that this crop of young guns is cold as ice and not afraid of the lights on the big stage.

  41. It's not surprising whatsoever. Primary points are based off previous year's championship results at the weight currently being contested (eg. Dake would have 0 seeding points at 86) and supplemental points from rankings series (4 total tournies this year not heavily attended by any single athlete) + continental tourneys (1 per region [Pan-Am, Euros, Asian, Oceania, African]). Out of the Team USA roster only 12 total tourneys were wrestled and none more than twice. Given the turnover of the team and the fact that a couple guys were wrapping up their junior year studying for the SAT, the numbers don't lie. Zagreb Tiran Mongolia Pan-Ams Budapest Total (Feb) (Feb) (May) (May) (July) 57 Spencer 1st --- --- --- --- 1 61 Forrest --- --- --- 1st --- 1 65 Woods --- 3rd --- --- --- 1 70 Duke --- --- --- --- --- 0 74 Carr 2nd --- --- --- 3rd 2 79 Haines --- --- --- --- --- 0 86 Zahid 1st --- --- 1st --- 2 92 Hidlay --- --- --- 1st 1st 2 97 Snyder 1st 3rd --- --- --- 2 125 Pindrickson --- --- --- 1st --- 1
