I will grant you that different environments have different norms. That said, a quick internet search finds that 44% of Americans own at least one firearm of some sort. Of that 44%, 33% own (at least one) handgun. That gets us down to 14% (44% x 33% = 14%) of Americans own at least one handgun. God knows how many own multiple handguns, but 14% own at least one. How many people keep that handgun in their car? I have no idea, but it is likely significantly less than the 14% already identified. I am just saying that those of you who pack-n-carry (any gun, much less multiple guns) are the outlier - NOT the norm in America.2 points

You’ve actually made the point that represents how a lot of people feel these days. At worst, simple weed possession should be treated like a standard speeding ticket. You pay a fine. It shouldn’t get you arrested, thrown in jail, and ruin employment options for you in the future.2 points

I kinda doubt we ever see a close to "100% Vito" again. The finger injuries have not been great, but may eventually get better. His neck is always going to be an issue, unfortunately. This stuff is going to affect his training, which will affect his gas tank. To make matters worse, I have heard that Vito has long been a weight cutting machine. When you reduce his training time/intensity, making weight is going to be that much tougher and will take its toll even more than it has in the past. That being said, he is still a tough out and Jax is to be commended.2 points

Hidlay into the finals! Takes Kurugliev down early, and the Greek gets hurt, then defaults out.2 points

No, he won the Takhti tournament and beat Emami in the finals. All the notable 74 guys were there but the coaches wanted to send them to a international tournament and this time Yazdani ended up losing to Emami in a close match in the finals. Probably would have been fair to setup a wrestle off between them but the coaches love Emami so they gave him the spot at 74. None of them could medal at 74 anyway so Yaz is probably better off at 70 if he can still make it.2 points

The best part about these updates is that Askren still seems like Askren. Sharp, thoughtful, smart. Sounds more or less like the Ben we know, which is great to hear.2 points

My brother was a survivor of Dr. Strauss and an ongoing victim of Ohio State (stealing a line from the doc). I was a mediocre wrestler at Oregon State. My brother is 6 years younger than me and was highly recruited. I had not heard good things about Coach Hellickson from people I trusted and tried to talk him out of going to Ohio State. He had friends there, and he really loved Coach Jordan. He is not interviewed in the documentary, but his name does appear prominently during the portion of the doc where they are highlighting the names of the guys being interviewed on the original lawsuit filing, below Coleman's name. He was warned by some of his teammates and fellow plaintiffs not to watch it. But he was at kid nationals in Iowa and his roommate fell asleep watching HBO. My brother woke up to the documentary about 10 minutes in. Called me in the middle of the night completely falling apart. After all, he was going to be in the UNI-Dome the next day with scores of people he knew. He got through that OK, although there was one guy who kept harassing him about it, "It wasn't really that bad. Why didn't you just kick his ass, etc." One of my brother's people got rid of that guy. The suffering continues for these men. The current administration at Ohio State is trying to wash their hands of it: "it happened before we were here...statute of limitations...etc." But they continued to take actions to cover it up, because they knew it went deeper than the 177 original plaintiffs. Now for my mea culpa: My brother went from a star student committed to a championship lifestyle to struggling with school and substance abuse. For years, I resented him for "wasting" the talent and all his hard work. He continued to wrestle, NAIA AA, OTC Athlete, etc. but was a shadow of himself. I blamed him for it, and of course, we all make our choices. Like I tell my athletes, "There are reasons for things not excuses." I mostly cut him out of my life for a handful of years. Fortunately, a sports psychologist at the OTC recognized there was something else going on with him and he got help, even though it wasn't until years later that he unearthed the horrors he endured. He came to watch my son compete in Pocatello in 2012 and it was the first time he had anything to do with wrestling in years. He is now a great coach and mentor to kids. We are closer than we have ever been but I will never forgive myself for my lack of empathy and anger toward him. There are hundreds and hundreds of stories like his. Strauss destroyed what these men could have been. Ohio State could have stopped it. It is on record that the athletic administration, and Coach Hellickson, knew about it before my brother enrolled in Columbus. They could have stopped it. They could have warned him. But they didn't. I have a special distaste for Congressman Jordan. But, as my mental health professional wife once pointed out, it is quite possible that Jim was a victim as well. Yes, he went to U of Wisc. but he was an Ohio phenom and I am sure he spent plenty of time in Columbus.2 points

I'll just say this....6 years ago, I slipped on a sheet of ice in a parking lot going in to order an award for a wrestling hall of fame banquet. My rotator cuff was torn beyond repair (never hurt it wrestling!) Even went thru surgery with a great surgeon.....couldn't fix it. So I sued....during the deposition, the owners of the building knew what happened, and lied during questioning/the deposition right to my face....would never have expected it...thought they were good people??? NOT. Fortunately, I was relentless....did lot's of videoing, investigating with my camera at that time of year and found the reason for the frozen ice right in front of the business door, and won my lawsuit...I'm still pissed though....will never get a workout in the same in my weight room. People do lie, even under oath....I'll stop right there.1 point

You are correct ,if you have had any alcohol or have an open container in your vehicle your CC permit is invalid , same situation with the weed even if Sammy was completely in the right with his CC permit that all goes out the window the second they have find the weed PA is very clear about this with there carrying laws concealed or open. yea PA has weird delivery method laws, vapes with thc are legally sold as well as some flower but allegedly it’s missing one compound from your regular run of mill weed but has the same effects so it’s technically not illegal until its physically burning .I had this explained to me by a hippie running a weed booth at a county fair , he also explained cops can’t differentiate just by looking at it so anyone caught with anything gets arrested and it’s sent to a lab for analysis so maybe Sammy gets lucky and has some of that funny legal weed PA votes every single year to legalize it and it still hasn’t passed and idk if they will anytime soon , Philly has completely decriminalized it , the little park next to my hotel for ncaas (where I randomly ran into Sonny Sasso) was filled all day long with people from all walks of life smoking every way imaginable1 point

I saw excerpts too before just running the whole thing through (which I still have a little more to go, four hours isn’t going to happen in one sitting, or even two for that matter). But the excerpts don’t get it. Not trying to convince anyone how they should feel about the guy. It’s just a good conversation between two people who aren’t exactly on the same side of everything. Might I add a conversation that includes a lot more data, statistics, and factual information from both people, than pack messaging. Like I said at the beginning, it’s not going to be comfortable for someone of the pack mentality who goes with what they’re told to think, but for open individuals who enjoy hearing out opposing view points it is very worthwhile.1 point

None of the individual allegations would bother me in isolation but... Loaded handgun: fine, should probably be properly registered but I can overlook that Expired tags: Don't care - but know that your tags are expired and behave accordingly Weed stuff: Don't care but while driving is stupid Three extra handguns in the car: If he's specifically on his drive to move, sure but probably lock them away. Any other case this one is weird. All of the above: That's a bit shady. If this were a guy named Pat Downey or AJ Ferrari everybody would be skewering him. He's very likeable and historically is a good dude but this is a bad look.1 point

You can't know if someone is a woman just because they are anatomically correct. Anyone can be a woman. In many cases, men have been better women than women have. How would anyone know if that picture is anatomically correct? Ket (you just saw her) anji Brown Jackson couldn't tell the Senate what a woman is because she was not a biologist. RV are you a biologist? Apparently not because you are a geologist. So how can you say that the doodle is anatomically correct? You can't if we are to believe the rhetoric. So we can see how morally and logically bankrupt the trans ideology is. Even RV can see right through it. It is the embodiment of the Emperor's new clothes story. mspart1 point

Something to keep an eye on: the NCAA and power conferences have actively lobbied Congress to codify a federal NIL framework, which brings us to the SCORE Act (HR 4312). The proposed legislation would: Prohibit schools from charging mandatory student fees to subsidize athletics programs and NIL (e.g., Cleveland State's $90/yr "save wrestling" tuition fee, Clemson's $150 athletics fee, portions of Fresno State's $495 instructional activities fee; but not "talent fees" and similar add-ons that are tacked onto season ticket sales) Require agents to register and carry a license, and caps their compensation at 5% of the athlete's NIL contract Require schools to cover all medical expenses for athletic injuries for at least 3 years after they graduate or leave school, and provide academic, career counseling, and financial assistance if they decide to return to college Keep the FBS 16 sport minimum (with at least 8 women's sports), applicable to any program with a coach that earns more than $250k/yr Block athletes from being classified as employees of the university based on their participation in sports Go back to the one-time transfer rule; multiple transfers still be allowed but the athlete would have to sit the season out Grant the NCAA, conferences, and programs an antitrust exemption, as long as they comply with the SCORE framework, mitigating further lawsuits based on anticompetitive practices So, a mix of good and questionable rules. The bill is still making its way through committee (current draft is here, for the legislative masochists) so who knows how it might be amended or modified, but I think expectations for now are that it'll pass the House and be a cointoss in the Senate.1 point

Castro was giving a speech to a crowd of people one day, and was praising Marx. A vendor walking down the aisles is saying "peanuts...popcorn." Then Castro continued his speech, and started to praise Lenin. The same man continued, "peanuts...popcorn." Again, Castro continued his speech, and once again...the same man, started saying "peanuts...popcorn" again. By this time, Castro was furious. "Whoever is saying 'peanuts, popcorn' come forward and I will kick you from here to Miami. The entire crowd started shouting "PEANUTS! POPCORN!"1 point

The men’s freestyle portion of the 2025 16U and Junior National Championships from Fargo, North Dakota is in the books. You can check out Jason Bryant’s Fargo Guide to track the long history of success in the FargoDome and how it correlates to winning at the collegiate and Senior levels. So that means you shouldn’t be surprised to see the wrestlers who found the podium yesterday to be the same ones challenging for the top eight at the NCAA Championships. And with the way that high school wrestlers have trained and are getting better than in past generations - we won’t wait very long for them to contend. Below are the wrestlers who earned All-American honors and have committed to wrestle at the next level. They are listed by their future home, along with their placement and weight. You don't read very well. It has since been revealed that the intricate prize hoisted aloft by the London club’s captain, Reece James, was a replica because the president of football’s governing body, FIFA, has let Trump use the original as an ornament in the Oval Office. The trophy, crafted in collaboration with Tiffany & Co, features a central disc with three rotating outer rings. It has a 24-carat gold-plated finish and is thought to have cost around $230,000 to make. If FIFA lets Trump keep the orbital award for good, it is likely to end up in the National Archives. The trophy was given to Trump by the FIFA President. And this was done in March. Perhaps you should take this up with him. mspart1 point
