  1. Brooks, you are the most annoying and piss-poor post-match interviewee of all time. Absolutely no insight whatsoever.
  2. I like Fix, but he's worn out his welcome in college wrestling. Kind of like Max Dean.
  3. I was just going to ask about Greg D. He's been out of HS for four years. For a five-time HS state champion, his college career has been underwhelming. Was hoping that he would be a starter this year.
  4. Right, he was great against Yianni. But a couple of weeks before that he got thumped by Paniro Johnson, and shortly after the Yianni match, Gomez nearly got decked by a freshman. Then, Gomez was getting thrashed by Sasso, only to make a dramatic comeback for the win. Gomez is a bit all over the map. He definitely does not bring his A-game to every match.
  5. Gomez is also inconsistent. He can be great one match, and then be much more ordinary in the next. I have doubts that he can put together a full run at NCAAs to claim a title.
  6. A short-fused guy who doesn't know how to fight can be taken out in seconds. Be more afraid of a measured opponent who knows how to fight. Or, forget about 'fuses' altogether, and worry about who is skilled at fighting and who is not. Otherwise, the moron with the least self-control would be the baddest man on the planet.
  7. It's hard to believe that any garden-variety takedown is now the scoring equivalent (or greater) of putting another wrestler on his back for the required count. One is considerably harder than the other. This rule change is just silly, IMO. Thumbs down.
  8. At the South Beach duals a few years back, Koll was asked in an interview what's it like to coach Yianni. He responded that Yianni was the easiest kid to coach - he hands him over to Mike Grey for coaching, and doesn't have to worry anymore about it. So yeah, Koll delegates to his assistants.
  9. Seems like a 3-point takedown de-values mat wrestling. This rule change is good for takedown artists, and for blowing matches open. Pretty soon this is going to be freestyle with these rule changes...takedowns, and get them back to their feet quickly.
  10. In his post-match interview at the NCAA finals, Yianni mentioned that he had one of the hardest years of his life due to having to deal with a family member, whom he declined to identify. But he also mentions that he'd be 'nothing' without that person. I don't recall this being discussed on here at the time, but does anyone know (or has heard) who he was referring to, and what the context was? I'm guessing it was his father?
  11. It would have been fun to see him wrestle next season, but I don't think he had a good shot at winning a national championship.
