  1. China exists totally on the American market. If we are disciplined for a short time they will cave. Every game they play will cost them. We have the right and ability to change their behavior. They outright consider us an enemy and not treating them accordingly is foolish.

  2. As thoughtful as you are regarding wrestling news, how can you possibly follow this story and conclude its fake news? From a broader perspective, how can you possibly view Trump - and the entirety of the GOP - as anything but an incompetent, corrupt, and yes - fascist dumpster fire? Admittedly, the Dems haven't done much to help themselves, and the unfolding story about Biden's decision to run for re-election while his mind was precipitously declining is devastating. That Democratic insiders actively tried to cover it up makes it even worse. Their ethics, and competence leaves much to be desired, and Biden - who actually appears to have been an excellent President, will die with his legacy in tatters. And yeah, wokeism can sometimes get annoying. When the Dems want to show solidarity with displaced Indians by holding pow-wows in the Capitol building to lament the theft of Indian lands, with zero interest in giving back said land, all you can do is roll your eyes. But at its core, beyond all the theatrics, woke only means one thing. A recognition that the world is unfair (and I guess the belief that government should function to improve the lives of the governed). But to view Trump - and the current GOP - in anything remotely resembling a favorable light, you have to somehow explain away the following (just off the top of my head): - The Trump University con that emphatically exposed his corruption back in 2015-16. TU was found civilly liable for, I think fraud and misrepresentation, etc., and while Trump was not running the place, I'm pretty sure he was shown to have been well aware of their business practices, and directly profited from them. - His repeated business failures; from impulsively, repeatedly overspending on real estate (after the NYT obtained his tax returns from Mary Trump, they eventually published a 2018 article detailing his father's repeated bailouts, his own tax shenanigans, his business failings etc. The article authors eventually published the book Lucky Loser last year, and unsurprisingly, Trump has yet to file a defamation suit) - statements from dozens of top officials from his first administration, detailing everything from his inability to read briefings longer than a paragraph, waking up at noon to watch Fox News all day, frequent tantrums when under any duress at all, complete unfamiliarity with how government functions, inability to keep from sharing sensitive, often classified info with others w/o security clearance, to how easily influenced he was by whatever that last person to speak with him said (the prime example being his first term China tariffs, and how they arose). - his unsubstantiated claims about the 2020 election, which were thrown out by 64 separate courts (the majority of which were right wing, many with Trump appointees). Not a single court validated any of his claims. - the revelation that SCOTUS justices Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito had each accepted millions of dollars worth of gifts and luxury vacations from right wing business owners, many of whom had claims before the court, and all of whom had significant interest in maintaining influence with the court. Alito even had the gall to try and head off the news by writing a Washington Post editorial in which he argued that he didn't realize he needed to disclose such gifts, while also excoriating the public for attacking his integrity and not giving him the benefit of the doubt. - Meanwhile, an upside American flag - which represents the claim that the 2020 election was stolen - flew at Alito's home for months. He claims it was his wife's doing, and that he didn't know about it. Multiple witnesses - including his own friends and neighbors - dispute this. - Despite a Congressional subpoena, both justices refused to testify before lawmakers, and Chief Justice John Roberts refused to amend any of the court's related ethics rules. - Trump's refusal to debate on 60 Minutes with fact checkers present, after every major news organization (including Fox News I think) noted his complete dishonesty during the first debate. - While I'll admit most journalists are probably left leaning, they bend over backwards to appear unbiased. So much so that, for example, the NYT mentioned Biden's age and cognitive issues nearly twice as often as Trump's age, dishonesty, and propensity to aimlessly babble when answering questions. Meanwhile, Fox News, which has become the mainstream media, and is anything but unbiased. Documents revealed during the Dimension defamation suit showed network hosts - both editorial and news anchors - constantly agitating on-air about the election being stolen, while interoffice emails revealed they knew very well the election hadn't been stolen at all. - The entire January 6th debacle, which sure appeared to be an attempted violent insurrection to me (and everybody else trapped in the building at the time, GOP members of Congress included), and the subsequent pardoning of every single individual involved. I'm now worn out, but if needs must, I'll continue adding to the list tomorrow. Mind, I haven't even gotten past the 2020 election, and the above is just off the top of my head. I'm genuinely curious how anyone can even begin to dismiss any single one the above issues, let alone all of them, as fake news.

  3. Even if you don't want to be ramping up your veteran guys this early it's a perfect event to get backups some reps and use one of the 5 dates with your freshman to get multiple quality matches and see how they do in an actual match. If they joined and didn't use their best lineup that makes sense, but there is no justification for not attending at all IMO.

  5. So every coach in D1 wrestling is willing to participate in an event that is detrimental to their teams success in March.. except Cael Sanderson. Wow, PSU is showing everyone the secret to winning NCAAs, and they're all too foolish to follow suit! Participating in this event would do nothing in any way to hurt PSU's potential in March unless they are truly just trying to refrain from any legitimate competition outside of their B10 schedule. How is participating in the All-Star Classic conducive to helping his wrestlers win at the NCAA championships? He certainly hasn't had any issues with his athletes participating in that event which has been held in Rec Hall the past two years. It's his team and he can certainly do whatever he wants, but I do think that when every other program is willing to participate in an event, and you turn your nose up at it and the $200k prize, it makes you look like a bit of a prick. It would be different if multiple teams were opting out, but when you are the only one stopping this event from being as good as it possibly could be, that's a disservice to the sport. Cael is saying "we're too good for your event, and won't validate it by participating."

  8. -Yes, if you go to a local dispensary they will or should know everything about CBG. If they don't, run for you life. Good chance CBG will be sold at your local pharmacy in the near future. Lot of info out there on it and as I've mentioned it's non psychoactive -The Indica/Sativa myth is that either plant will give you a specific high. There are a lot of factors that contribute to that. Indica is a plant that is shorter/bushier and came from a drier climate. Sativa is taller with thinner leaves and came from a more humid climate. Indica does have more CBD in it. That's pretty much it. And now with all the hybrid plants being made it's impossible to know the actual effects it will have on a user.

  9. Isn't it possible that some people have found their new favorite word and just spew it all over the place in order to somehow make a political point??? How about war SUCKS!! Innocent people die during war which is the main reason it SUCKS! It is absolutely laughable to say Isreal is committing genocide when if they truly wanted to, they could wipe the Gaza strip off the face of the earth in no time at all. But hey...it's way easier to be intellectually lazy and try to earn emotion points by throwing the word genocide around all because somehow "Orange man bad".

  15. Having a bit of trouble following but I get the general idea. So did Aaron Brooks or Kyle Snyder kill 5 hookers in Paris?
    1 point
  16. Let's run down the TMZ blotter over the past 13 months: Aaron Brooks pissed hot at U23s on his way to a gold that some say is tainted at best, should be overturned at worst. Eventually got a TUE after the failed test AND after NCAAs AND after Olympic Team Trials - this was a full 6+ months between failure and "free pass." Penn State medical team has legally proven themselves in the past to be willing to turn a blind eye. **gives one twist to the tinfoil fat** Kyle Snyder, self-proclaimed man of godly faith, gets busted in full 360p display during a sex trafficking operation. **couple more twists on the tinfoil hat** Thomas Gilman ignored USADA not once, not twice, but three times while an active athlete. How do we know he is active? Two reasons: 1) he literally said "Not retired." during the timeframe in question 2) He went back to the NLWC room and then accepted the freakin' suspension! He didn't say "ahh crap sorry let me make a quick press conference where I set the record straight that I just blew them off because I was done." **lots of twists on the top of the tinfoil hat** Now let's go through one conspiracy theory that has been discussed ad nauseum, and another which about 4 gilmangummies ago became my latest NLWC conspiracy theory. David Taylor's physique and association with Treigning Lab has long been discussed. Everyone has an opinion and there is no need to discuss any further, only that it is worth mentioning in this thread. But that's not the big 86kg elephant in the room. Oh no, no, no it is not... The conspiracy theory surrounding the one and only Aaron Brooks, the Ram Of The East himself is the big one. He's already proven that he will do whatever it takes to study harder, stay up later, and stay hyper-focused. Now if you recall, we all heard the rumors that he skipped the Olympics opening ceremony for a number of reasons - it was raining, he didn't want to be on his feet for a while two weeks before competition, he didn't like the metal band that stole the show, he didn't understand the difference between a greek god and a drag queen, etc etc. BUT What if a certain olympic athlete wasn't there because there were other things to be done. Other things much, much more nefarious. Acts that could never be done in public, much less at the most public event in the world. That is... unless there were no witnesses. Did you know that Craig James was at the Paris Olympics but he also chose not to attend the opening ceremony? And do you know what Craig James did at SMU? Spencer Hall is an investigative Journalist (big J journalist, not like those losers at Flo) and sources are saying that he is uncovering a sinister plot that is smack-dab in the middle of the Snyder-James venn diagram, and it ain't good folks. I think this thread is really onto something - the culture at NLWC/PSU needs to be under full scrutiny. 6 feet under as a matter of fact.

  17. In my lifetime there has never been a Commander in Chief with the respect and confidence of the boots on the ground grunt that Trump has. Our veterans also respect this President more than and Democrat elected in the last 50+ years. If you supported Clinton then you have no argument to make about military service.

  18. Yes, the retort "Doesn't surprise me that Trump only cares about injustices committed against the white race" exemplifies a straw man argument. A straw man fallacy occurs when someone misrepresents an opponent's position to make it easier to attack. In this case, the original argument highlights the high overall murder rate in South Africa and provides specific data on farm attack victims, noting that both white and black individuals are affected. The retort distorts this by suggesting that the focus is solely on injustices against white individuals, thereby misrepresenting the original point to criticize it more easily.

  25. Also hilarious that people like @Husker_Du complain about "illegal" immigrants who they would never even know existed if the news didn't tell them, yet can't understand the Palestinian cause where, not only did millions of immigrants enter the land without their permission, but they also kicked 700,000 people out of their homes, made them refugees, and put them under military occupation for 75 years. Imagine if instead of picking fruit or working in construction, Hector from Guatemala showed up on your door with a gun and made you leave your home or die. And then when you moved to a worse house away from home, you then had to get Hector's permission to go to work, buy food, turn on your lights, go to the doctor, etc...That's what conservatives act like is happening here, but it's what actually happened in Palestine, and is still happening today.

  27. 1) Israel didn’t exist 100 years ago lol 2) “100 years of attacks” Only a tiny fraction of Israelis have been killed in this conflict compared to Palestinians. Millions of Palestinians have lost their lives or homes so people born in Brooklyn could exercise their “right” to the land in Palestine. The scoreboard isn’t even close here, and you wonder why they hate Israel. 99% of Palestinians alive today have never lived free in their ancestral homeland. 3) The vast majority of the arab world DOES NOT want to “genocide of jews.” They want their land back from Israel. They want the *apartheid state* of Israel gone. That doesn’t mean they want to kill every jew in the world or the jews who live in Israel. Jews lived in Palestine before the state of Israel existed. They will continue to live in Palestine after the state of Israel too. They just won’t have a Jewish-supremacist ethnostate. They’ll have to live under *shudders in horror* a democracy.

  30. Let's use a little bit of Occam's Razor here, based on his previous view on national duals. As a PSU fan, I would love to see them at National Duals. I would love for them to wrestle in 5 tournaments and 20 duals a year. That would be great. Reality is as follows: The primary goal of the Penn State team is to win the NCAA championship. The measure of the teams accomplishments will not be how many victories at National Duals, Cliff Keen, or even Big 10 championships. Everything on their schedule is therefore designed to allow the team to peak at the NCAA championships. Anything that interferes with that game plan is a negative and won't be acceptable to Cael. So, despite the fact that the concept of National Duals is a great one for determining the best team in the country, that is not the recognized metric for that designation. It is still the NCAA championships. So, Cael is not going to do anything that may be detrimental to that goal. Having said that, National Duals are a great idea. Can't wait to watch. Wish PSU were there, even if they used all their backups (will the matches count against red shirt limits?). I also believe it is quite possible that Cael will join the fun in the future if he feels the timing can be incorporated into his run to the national title.

  33. Yeah I’ll give you that, Hamas probably would try to commit genocide if they wouldn’t get their ass handed to them if they tried. That doesn’t mean they are actively committing genocide though, nor does it mean that a genocide needs to happen for “Palestine to be free from the river to the sea”
    1 point
  34. Sure, Jimmy is using it incorrectly, but I'm not. I'm agreeing with the worlds' foremost experts on Genocide, people who have been studying it for decades and decades. They all say it's a genocide and give you specific examples for why it meets the criteria. You never engage with those reasons because you're not willing to entertain the fact that you're wrong. If the worlds' leading genocide experts were saying the opposite, I wouldn't use the term.
    1 point
  35. You can keep saying this, but it doesn't make it true. Since 2017, Hamas' official charter endorses the existence of a Palestinian state with the 1967 borders, which implicitly acknowledges Israel's continued existence as a state next door. And that's Hamas, the most extreme faction in the Palestinian resistance. Your information is outdated. Maybe if Palestinians were white, you'd actually see them as humans.

  37. Considering Fox News has become America's mainstream media, I agree. Well, I'm not sure their anchors outright lie, but their opinion hosts (Hannity et al.) absolutely do (see Dominion v. Fox News for details). And both their news anchors and op ed hosts aggressively promote right wing talking points, without any real attempt to be "fair and balanced". MSNBC seems pretty left wing, but IMO they're nowhere near as partisan as Fox News. If you can point me to research etc. that suggests otherwise, I'll certainly read it. I'm sure most reporters probably do lean left, but also bend over backwards to appear unbiased. Which is how we end up with the NYT mentioning Biden's age in a negative context much more often than Trump's age, propensity to babble, and even his constant dishonesty. But if you don't realize that Fox News has become America's mainstream media, just look at their market share. Edit: BTW, who has lied on this airplane issue, and how? And are you seriously claiming to suddenly believe an administration that has told two or three different stories about this plane since the story broke? When Pam Biondi claims Abrego Gracia is an MS-13 gang member, without any evidence at all, do you believe her? Do you believe her claims that the 2020 election was stolen, despite all 64 court cases being thrown out? Trump's been gloating about owning this airplane from the beginning, and the admin has been trying to craft a narrative that somehow reconciles his claims with American law.
